Rough start for Manson. Outside of Edmontons first line they are not that good.
Literally can flick the channel to anything else as you may miss two goals.
all the years i’ve played hockey i’ve never heard of the “chip it forward into the zone and but don’t control it” technicality to negate an offsides…
Well if they didn’t do replay it would have been a goal either way, but thought it was offsides for sure.
Manson is on pace for the worst defensive game of all time. Not as if Darcy is helping at all. They should just play old school first to ten wins.
normally we’d jokingly say the first to score 10 wins…but this game it might need to be first to 15 or 20…..
What the hell happened to Darcy.
Listed as upper body injury and unlikely to return.

no goalie wants to be playing in this series….
This game made it seem like neither team has a chance against the east. Their goalies and D are better and can match Edmonton/Colorado’s offense. I know it’s game one and I should chill but IF this keeps up the finals could be ugly.
Yuk what a ugly game. I’m not feeling too good if I’m Colorado. Put up eight and it takes a empty netter for you to escape from possible ot. It’s like the most of the game was 4 on 4 and the parts that weren’t were 3 on 3. It was fun for a while then it became like watching a bantam game with endless scoring.
Hopefully that’s out of their system and they get back to playing hockey.
Yeah that wasnt the goalie battle I was expecting last night. The Bolts still have to be the favorites, but they looked vulnerable last night.
Sounds like Zucc, Spurgeon and Dumba were all really banged up. All 3 required surgery. No wonder they didnt look their best. Sounds like Merrill might not be ready for camp either. That didnt seem like too bad of a play, but clipping skates can lead to any sort of leg injury.
I think Merrill’s was upper body from how he kinda hit the boards on that play.

Oh that could be. He did go awkwardly into the boards. Just read that it was an apparent arm injury. So that be anything to clavicle, shoulder, etc?
wasn’t Merrill’s latest injury was from his 1st shift in the World Championships?

If it wasnt his first shift it was only a couple in yes.
The Islanders Athletic beat writer just posted an article on what it would take for them to aquire Fiala, they have dreams of playing Barzal with him…He proposed a combination of the #13 pick in this years draft and either Oliver Wahlstrom or Aatu Raty…
That #13 pick could likely get a Conor Geekie, Brad Lambert or Marco Kasper, either of those guys are great forward prospects…I like Wahlstrom over Raty only because he’s proven he can play in the NHL and he has a cannon right-hand shot…He has 1 year left of his ELC….Raty had a bounce back year in the Finnish League and is just starting his 3 year ELC…
What say you about this potential trade? I like it…
Seems like Russo is pushing his Athletic cronies to write these articles, almost like he’s keeping Fiala’s name active in the media to drive up interest and the bidding war. That stuff has worked in the past a la Matt Duchene.
Would sure be nice if Gaudreau and Forsberg could go ahead and sign extensions. If teams think they have a shot at either one then that kills their interest in Fiala prior to free agency.
To me, Id to Raty because of the 3 year ELC and hope he returns to form like he had a better year this year.

That right-hand shot though…Wahlstrom has been a goal scorer his entire career, could be a good Fiala replacement on a budget with potential future upside still and you could immediately pencil him in on 1st PP unit on the left side boards spot for 1 timers…after this next year you can sign him to a manageable 2-3 year bridge deal…

I don’t see how Nashville doesn’t resign Forsberg, who else do they have to score? Gaudreau is an known imo… Calgary has lots of important guys to sign (Tkachuk will likely get $9+, Mangiapane will likely get $7+) and might choose to spend his potential $9+ caphit elsewhere if they think he’s peaked…
Just meant that those 2 superstar wingers on the UFA market could put a damper on the Fiala sweepstakes – maybe not for Ottawa but definitely teams like NJD and LAK. I agree though that Fil stays in Nashville and Johnny Hockey is going to free agency – but that’s based on his choice, not Calgary’s.
Yeah Gaudreau is going to hit the market. NJ would be a good landing spot for him Id think. I hear ya Joe on Wahlstrom, I just think it would be tougher to get him vs Raty and I think Raty has a higher ceiling personally.
Give me Raty over Wahlstrom 100% – Wahlstrom hasn’t done anything remarkable since the spinorama goal when he was 8. OK so maybe he was very good in juniors but he hasn’t had a single good professional season. I get Ryan Donato, who was the big get in the Coyle trade, vibes from him.
So do the Avs finish off Edmonton in 4 or will the Oilers actually won one for the home fans so they can then be flattened back in Colorado in game 5?
