How would getting the #2 pick (Devils) or #7 pick (Ottawa) plus more assets help ease the pain of losing Fiala this offseason? There are some really good players in the top 7…
It’s good, but nothing is proven in picks. Not sure anything other than Fiala continuing his postseason ghosting will ease the pain.

100% Russo has done some stuff on his brother Cam who was in the wild system. Hard not to like guys like that. Kudos to mom holding out through the game. Man I can’t imagine.

I don’t follow prospects enough to know but they had quite the discussion on Sirius radio today how this draft is pretty mediocre. They were speculating that this will be the Covid draft when these kids got disrupted from playing and cost them in development.
I agree with mahto that draft picks and prospects are just that until proven otherwise. If Fiala is mia the entire playoffs two things will come of it. It will ease the pain of losing him and it will drive his trade value down.

He’s still going to get a handsome haul regardless of what he does in the playoffs. There’s always a GM that thinks a change of scenery will make a difference or they can unlock untapped potential. Especially a rebuilding franchise.
We can’t afford him… we cant afford to pay an established player to replace him, draft picks and/or prospects on their ELC are our only option. After the top 10 players in this draft I agree there’s a significant dropoff in projections… so do what you can to get into the top 10….
With our prospect pool so good, we can afford quality over quantity, so trade picks to move UP in the draft vs the Vikings philosophy of trading back for more picks…
Another option could be trading for a 2023 1st round pick which has legit top 5 franchise prospects, most experts agree 2023 is a 1 in 25 years draft class…

Yeah it’s going to be almost impossible to keep Fiala. As much of the warts he has with his game if love to keep him I just don’t see it.
