2022 MN WILD/NHL THREAD

Wild missed the exact same opportunity Sunday night.

So we’re just calling every loss in every series a missed opportunity now? Both teams lost and that’s where the similarities end. Caps were winning with 2 minutes to go and missed an ENG by 2 inches. Caps are heavy underdogs and play 2 of the last 3 on the road. It’s the complete opposite of the Wild’s situation.

This level of pettiness will get us to 250 pages for sure

The Caps are massive underdogs and if they just held on they would have a chance. I dont see the Panthers letting this one slip away now.

Since Muskie brought up the fancy stats… Rangers are getting absolutely stomped. Their lines and D-pairings take up 7 of the bottom 13 xG% spots lol

Whats happened to Fox? Norris winner to no show. Crosby is still Crosby and Guentzel is just clutch. Zucker back and he had a couple great changes last night too.

Of course every lost game is a missed opportunity to win. Not that hard to understand.

The difference is the Caps were leading with 2 minutes left. The Wild never held a lead.

    Flower starting tonight

Its obvious at this point that the mgmt/coaching staff always had the intention of starting him regardless of wins/losses, or play by Talbot down the stretch. The only way Talbot is going to get a chance now is is Fleury gets hurt or he completely implodes.

So finishing the year like 13-0-2 Talbot played himself out of a job? I think its BS

Talbot like many goalies is not the type to be able to sit for long stretches and then come in and be anywhere near the top of his game. This is by Talbot’s own admission. It seems they are going to win or lose with Fluery.

I think many of us would agree with you on this, but its obvious they made up their mind ahead of time, regardless of how well he played down the stretch. And as Ice Cap stated, they’re sticking with their plan. Its going to take an act of god to alter that plan now. Like an injury or an implosion.

2 teams to watch for in tonight’s NHL Draft Lottery, the Senators and the Devils, both teams rumored to be very interested in Kevin Fiala, their 1st round pick is likely part of the cost…

I also remember how average to bad he played most of the year. Not sure why you would play him right now. It is not like they need a spark or are desperate like the blues were when they lost two in a row pretty handily.

My cousin grabbed me one of those Kaprizov designed sweatshirts at the Hockey Lodge just now, said the line wrapped around the X and they sold out pretty much instantly… man this town is nuts for that kid!

Its revisionist history. We only focus on the last 15 but the rest of his season was meh at best and especially against Division rivals.
Fleury is playing because he has what 90ish playoff wins and 3 cups.

    Yep.

Sounds like same lineup for the Wild tonight. Leddy and Bortuzzo back for the Blues and Binnington back in net.

It will be interesting to see with those two guys back. The Blues are a better team for sure with them.

I’m curious to see what changes on the Powerplay? Who does Fiala swap out with for PP1? Boldy?

I have no problem with Fleury. I’ve seen Cam let in plenty of soft goals too, even though I like him.

I’d say Evason and Geurin have done an excellent job, let them make the call.

Kinda like Fluery was 9-2 in his last 11 games but 19-21 before that. I would call that worse then meh.

Laughable. You are comparing his stats when he was with the Hawks. Look where they are in the standings again.

Sorry just don’t a reason to blame Fleury in this series.

Sorry just don’t see much to blaming Fleury on in this series.

Nope. You could blame him for not scoring more goals perhaps.

    More smoke…

I need to listen to that podcast, I saw another clip of it where he was throwing Radulov under the bus too. Don’t see that stuff very often.

Well, there it is I guess…

Confirmation for a number of us that didn’t like him. Best thing the Wild could do was send those two boys packing

Im not blaming Fluery at all and I understand why they are putting him in there It just dont seem fair to me that the guy who went 32-12-4 and got you to where you are doesnt even get a shot.

Was just going to say managing a professional sports team has nothing to do with fair.

Sounds like Arnott echoed what every one was already suggesting with Suter. Said all he did was complain about everything (from the write up):

“The attitude of Suter was night and day to Weber. All he would do is complain about how come he’s not on the power play, how come he doesn’t play enough, ‘I can’t believe this guy’s making this much money.’

    Sounds about right to me.
