We don’t know for sure that’s the reason they acquired him. Its only speculation.

Its simple, BG acquired him because he see’s him as an upgrade over Kahkonnen. He wouldnt have done it otherwise.

Oh I don’t think there’s any doubt about that.

I stand behind my opinion that Talbot should be starting in game 1. I think starting Fleury is not the right move. And apparently others agree with me.

A lot of us think Talbot should be starting. It’s the “I hope it backfires” part that’s a little dark.

Can we talk about how weird it is that 36 year old Alex Goligoski is healthy scratched for game 1 a month after getting a 2 year x $2m extension?

I think that extension was a perplexing move, but they probably had some gentleman’s agreement based on his initial contract. I just dont see how it makes sense to sign him however. He hasnt been bad, but its clear he’s lost a lot. It also hurts us with that higher contract than someone like Middleton. Its also not possible to move Goose so that is what makes it even stranger.

I dont think they could make a bad decision with who they chose to start. Talbot certainly earned it, but honestly Fleury is so much more athletic and facing a team like the Blues who generate so many chances in front of the net with their quick passes I think it suits his game better. We’ll see what happens, but I am fine with whoever they chose to throw out there.

I mean the blues are sitting a goalie that won them the cup only a few years ago so…

Agree it’s not a big difference, we’ll see both goalies, and I said the same thing about Flower’s style being better suited to the Blues. Just saying given option A or B, vast majority of fans would choose Talbot for game 1. Whole point was basically that the “I hope it backfires” line has angry hockey-mom energy.

Going to let the off season play out but I have a feeling several D may be moved and he will be a bottom pair next season.

Having watched a lot of the recent games, I was in the Talbot camp as well. Maybe it is his style but Fluery seems to scramble around and has not controlled the rebounds as well as Cam. I do believe the team may feel better having someone back there with so much experience. I just hope it works as this team as been fun to watch this year.

IDK if I like him in a bottom pair role. Typically those are you beef eater types.

This Goligoski extension is a head scratcher for sure…What would his caphit look like if he was burried to Iowa? Just wondering they must have a plan B is his game falls off a cliff next year…obviously bringing up the buyout word scares alot of folks, but it’s only $666,667 for 2 years if they wanted to…

Kulikov is for sure gone this offseason and if the plan was to trade Dumba as well he gives them another vet who could fill that spot in spurts (with periods of rest throughout the season)

Can’t bury Goligoski because he has a full NMC. That’s the difference between NMC and NTC. No ‘movement’ clause means he can’t be placed on waiver’s and assigned to the AHL.

We really talking about the off-season on playoff opener day? I suppose it’s my fault for bringing it up.

ok, so the plan must be to ride him till he keels over then…or he comes down with eczema…

Well I wouldn’t consider Kulikov and Merril beef eaters…and like Joe said has flexibility to move up if need be.

it was your fault, we can talk about Ek’s playoff faceoff % if you want??? )

in all honesty, he’s been alot better the 2nd half of the season, but this series we’re going to get absolutely owned on pretty much every important draw…I just need to bite my lip and hope our guys can play defense…

Merril is the perfect 6th defenseman, especially with that contract, Goligoski could be an effective 5th defenseman with limited minutes and be an emergency powerplay guy I guess in our coaches eyes…

How far into game 1 does Dumba try to destroy somebody with an open-ice hit and re-injures his shoulder? I say first 5 minutes…dude is going to be jacked out of his mind!

The best part is D-Lo just instinctually assumes a sweep

As long as Nick Seeler isn’t lacing up for the Blues D-Lo should be all right. wink It’s good he’s fired up but no stupid penalties. Please!!

And he will only get half the guy while the puck winds up in the back of our net.

I went down to the sweater vault and found one that has some luck left in it. I’m going old school tonight.

All I can say is I’m glad the days of the Wild getting beat to a pulp in playoff series are over. Take liberties, pay the price. How’s that head feeling, O’Connor?
