Had a brush with Wild Fame yesterday at the game.

We had seats on the club level and I was waiting for the elevator to go up. The door opens and there’s GM Bill Guerin standing there.

So about 6 of us pile in and before the doors close, I said, “Look everybody, It’s GMBG!”

He gets kind of red and says, “I just look like him.”

So then I said, “Bill, is now a good time to talk about how you’re going to resign Fiala?”

Everybody laughed and Bill reached for the suite-level elevator button and started hitting it again and again really fast. It was funny.

That was the highlight of the whole damn game. I said to the people around us at first period break that the Wild were going to find a way to lose this. General agreement that yes, they would. And so it was.

Cool story! I bet BG would want to escape fans asking about Fiala!!

Overlook Dallas at your own risk. Any team right now could get hot and any team could go cold. Hopefully the Wild can win these last two for the feel good and get that home ice they are going to need that advantage against the Blues. That Arizona loss was a stinger.

AZ loss was huge. That really hurts with 2 real tough tests tonight and tomorrow. Nothing is going to be given away that is for sure.

Wild just signed Simon Johansson! great signing as a solid right-handed depth defenseman who’s been getting better every season since he was drafted…2 year ELC starts NEXT season… very similar size and build to Brodin, plays a similar game, perhaps a tick better offensively, but obviously he’s not near the same level of skater, very few are…

This is NOT Phillip Johanson, former 1st rounder we WON’T sign and instead get another 2nd round draft pick this year….

You say any team can get hot and cold then say the wild have to have home ice.
I don’t understand the double standard here.
I am going to guess the wild blues series will be a coin flip in Vegas with maybe slight edge going to home team.
You win one of the first two games and now you have home ice advantage.

Sounds like Rossi has been playing injured for some time.

He didn’t play in there last meaningless game after they were eliminated. Sounds like he is coming to Minnesota to get treatment or better diagnosis.

Here I am again. wave Looking at the results of the head-to-head meetings between Dallas and Colorado, Dallas won 2 of 3.

Ya, I know, you and others don’t think that means jack sh** when it comes to the playoffs, but right now that is the only head to head comparison available so it is a relevant stat.

Well hell why even play the playoffs then. They should just do head to head and declare a cup winner?
So Dallas is the favorite in that series and Colorado is the underdog?
What a Cinderella win that will be for Colorado.

No, I didn’t say that. I simply displayed the results of their games this season because you stated Colorado was going to destroy them.

Not long ago, Tampa had one of the best seasons in the history of the NHL and they were swept by Columbus. Its not out of the realm of a possibility you know. Tampa did rebound from that and won back to back Stanley Cups, so losing to Columbus that season is long forgotten, but it did in fact occur.

Colorado will be a heavy favorite. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. There will also be an immense amount of pressure on them. Say they lose game 1 or 2 and fall behind in the series, then some doubt creeps in, etc. Could easily happen.

Thanks for the Tampa history lesson.
    So what’s your point?
Dallas has a chance to upset Colorado?
Thanks captain obvious, but it will have nothing to do with what the regular season record was of games played over 3 months ago.

Yes, that is my point. Apparently you don’t think its even remotely possible. Colorado is going to destroy them, so the Stars might as well just surrender ahead of time then, right?

    It’s called an opinion.
Yes I think Colorado will destroy them.
Whoever wins it will have nothing to do with the regular season head to head.
With your deep diving stats the Wild may just as well walk away as well.

Playoffs are a different animal entirely than regular season. The intensity and compete level is nowhere near comparable. Dallas is going to get throttled by Colorado. Dallas not a very good team, but if they get good goal tending they can compete. Id be shocked if that series went 6 games provided Kuemper doesnt have gremlins. That is really the only potential weakness they have. He’s been great all season, but we will see what the playoffs bring.

Actually I just looked at the standings and Nashville is in the 8 hole. So the argument about Dallas-Colorado is a completely moot point right now.

Dude what is your freaking problem. You think Colorado is going to destroy whoever they play and I think there is a chance that their opponent could make it a series. Chill out already.

Dallas and Colorado are both just lucky they don’t have to play the Coyotes in the playoff. Yotes beat em each twice…

Listening to GMBG’s presser from today, it sounds like the injury just happend in the last game.

another note from GMBG’s presser I found interesting, at the end a reported asked him about how not only Fiala, but ALL players on this team have a team first mentality and always talk about the Team performance vs Individual performances and how much it has changed since he took over. his answer gave hints that pointed directly at the Stahl/Parise/Suter/Koivu era… He said nobody on the team now cares who scores or who gets the assist, it’s all about winning…This made me think of the time Parise was trying to get somebody an empty net goal and made a mistake that resulted in the other team scoring? didn’t he get benched/healthy scratched afterwards? (I think i’m remembering it right?)

You are correct. I want to say it was moose trying to get him a hat trick on an empty netter. Totally could be wrong in that. I think his comments afterwards not taking accountability was what really sent off Bill.

Rossi’s production fell off big time after his 2 NHL games. 23 points in 21 games before the callup and 30 points in 42 games after. He didn’t even make the AHL all-rookie team and a couple forwards in his draft class did. Could be a concern if he’s penciled into the Fiala sized hole for next season.. But that’s next season so who cares right now.

I still can’t believe how bad Vegas choked.

Yeah was fairly vague from Russo.

Was against Vegas at 6v5 last year, Parise chased the puck into the O-zone after an already long shift. Vegas came back down and scored on a play he should have stopped, then won in OT. Parise’s quote to the Strib was “I asked Moose if he ever had a hat trick and he said no so I stayed out to help him get the third goal.” Then the dagger to his career in MN was “I know my teammates have my back”. He got scratched the next game and it was all downhill from there. To be fair Parise had been absolutely terrible up to that point in the season. He was a good 4th liner after that but then got scratched down the stretch.

I think the kid just flat out hit a wall after no hockey for like a year+

He was also removed from the 1st line when Rask got sent down on 2/20 and I don’t beleive was ever put back since? He then played mostly with guys who are career AHLers…I never understood what the thinking was there?

Yes that was against Vegas last year. It was horrible. He took a ridiculously long shift which led to a goal.
