It depends how Boldy does next season but right now J-Rob is a perfect comparable… and that’s big compliment. He scored at a higher point pace last season than Boldy is now and he’s closing in on 40 goals this season. Both are big skilled forwards that aren’t great skaters but don’t let it hurt them. They are who Charlie Coyle was supposed to be.

Sounds like Merrill is back in for Benn tonight and Chaffee plays again. Dumba, Greenway, and Jost all still out but are skating and could likely go if the playoffs started tonight. Nice to see them resting guys and letting them heal, obviously value full health way over home ice. Should be the obvious choice but it doesn’t always go that way.

I wonder what version of Calgary and Colorado we see in the last 2 games of the season? Both are locked into their seed and should be resting their top players but it might not play out that way. Calgary has absolutely nothing to play for but Sutter is a crazy man and probably thinks resting players is dumb. Colorado might push for the President’s trophy plus get games for Kadri and Lande coming back from injury.

Its crazy what Colorado has done with those big guys out. Considering the run the Wild and Blues have been on and Colorado just keeps pulling away. They are a load for sure. Sutter is a crazy guy so I doubt he rests anyone. Too old school. It will be fun to see Boudreau back at the X tonight.

I read that Tony Abbott article about Boldy as well. Problem with projected points is they don’t mean anything until the points are actually scored. Kind of like games in hand they mean nothing until they are played but if your team has two games in hand most people will count them as at least two points. The counting chickens thing.

Besides showing he can be damn good he has also shown a propensity to being injured. Hopefully that’s not something that continually dogs him. What will be even more interesting is to see how he does without Fiala next year and Fiala without Boldy.

Tony leans heavily on the analytics world for his articles. He picks and chooses the charts and stats that support his opinions and narrative. Nothing wrong with having that voice but it needs to be taken with context.

Talbot starting tonight confirmed by Deano.

Propensity to being injured is a bit much. He broke his ankle on an akward collision fall. I take that as a freak injury.

Big game for Vancouver and Dallas at Calgary tonight. Guessing Canucks come out strong.

I agree. He would have made the opening day roster most likely had that not happened. He at least would have earned it.

I like this. Rewarding him for the shutout. This is a good problem to have with two goalies who have been playing well. Fleury wasnt at his best last game, but being the legend he is I am sure he will bring it tomorrow night.

Didn’t he injure a ankle in Iowa as well and was out for a time? Also he just recently missed a couple games here with a upper body injury. Anyhow it’s been enough for it to be a legitimate question.

Yeah I think Bruce will have the boys ready to show up tonight. Should be a fun one.

I think the second time he got injured it was a blocked shot that did him in right after he came back.

Yeah he broke his ankle in preseason, injured the other ankle in Iowa, and then the unknown UBI a couple weeks ago. It’s a fair concern, but definitely can’t throw the injury prone label on him (which I don’t think you did). FWIW he was never injured in college or at the USDP.

Seems to be a lot of mysterious upper body injuries going around the team… Might be carpal tunnel from all the locker room chemistry and being such a “tight group”

This subject comes up on KFAN a lot lately when they talk about the Wild. They make a case for both as the starting goaltender when the playoffs start. Fleury obviously has the experience, but Talbot has been playing well. I would personally roll with Talbot in game of the playoffs. I think it would be beneficial to have a goalie 1A and a goalie 1B. They’re obviously both capable of being the full time starting goaltender. I just don’t think that going back and forth is a great idea, and if that started to occur then the Wild would likely be losing more games than they are winning.

If they alternate the rest of the way I believe Talbot is in line to start game 1 after getting back to back starts. Before it was set to be Fleury.

If you were Evason, and the playoffs started in 2 days, who would you start?

If they are both still playing well and theyve been rotating I would start whoever’s turn it was. Both guys have playoff experience, obviously Fleury has more and is well decorated, but the moment wont be too big for him I dont think.
It really seems they have both embraced it and rotating keeps them both fresh.

    If it starts tomorrow Talbot.
Not sure it’s 100 percent Deans decision though. BG loves the flower.
The wild and most teams give there goalie the next start no matter what after a shutout so I would not dive to deep into the decision.

They got the youngster drinking more milk now. He should be good.😂
I think it happens to a lot of younger guys. They are not used to playing 82 game season and learn how to manage the load better the longer they are in the league.
I mean Spurg has missed time Ek, Zucc, Greenway, Brodin. I don’t think they are considered injury prone. Just a grind in the NHL season and I think he got off the wrong foot no pun intended when he broke his ankle.

The Talbot/Fluery question seems to be one everyone is asking. They discuss this daily lately on Sirius NHL radio and the opinions are varied. One comment was that regardless how well Talbot plays there is going to be pressure to put Fluery in at some point. I’m guessing there will be a goal tenders only meeting with Evason after the regular season to flesh out a plan.

The insanely condensed schedule has led to alot more injuries this year…guys dont have the recoup time like they used to…

as mentioned Boldy had a freakish bad injury to start the season and another unfortunate against the boards injury after a month+ of rehab, college kids maybe play 35 games a season if lucky, most sputter out the back half of the season because they are not prepared fir the 82 game grind… he’ll be fine…

Seems like Goligoski cant make simple hockey plays anymore… he’s just kind of a body out there taking up space…

Well he takes up enough space to not be on the ice when the other teams scores very often.

I’m trying to make my peace with the inevitable departure of Fiala but he sure makes it difficult. Be interesting to see what BG throws at him for a qualifying offer. Whatever it is he will have multiple offer sheets for more. We can only hope that he lands buried in the East somewhere and not to Nashville, St. Louis or anywhere in the West for that matter. I can see the Kings make a run at him. Fiala and his fiance look like California dreaming types.

I’m willing to bet he doesn’t get offer sheeted by multiple teams.
More likely multiple trade offers for his rights from teams that have the cap space before the draft.
