Super fun and exciting lineup just released for the game tonight!

Boldy/Rossi/Beckman/Addison/Duhaime all playing with the big boys tonight!

    Greenway and Rask out tonight…hmmm

Pitlick also not in tonight which is kind of surprising, he’s had more than enough time to get to MN…

Sounds like a young roster for the Blackhawks. Should be a fun one to watch. I wonder if Bruiser Beckman will drop the gloves at the drop of the puck to set the tone? jester

I see Saturdays game is not on the BSN network so is it on the app again? I guess it don’t really matter for me I’ll be at Schells brewery for Oktoberfest! Doubt much tv watching is on the agenda! toast

I hope that’s the PP2 unit tonight. Maybe sub Foligno in for Duhaime net front.

Addison is the best PP quarterback I’ve seen in a Wild sweater. He just oozes poise and confidence with the puck on his stick and is actually a legitimate threat to shoot. Not a floater for a tip or rebound, but actually shooting with a purpose. That threat opens everything up for the half wall guys.

He surely can fire the bomb from the point. Man he was fun to watch.

Most interesting preseason I can remember. Going in it was all about Rossi and does he make the team. Then Beckman and Duhaime showed up and totally stole the show. Add in Addison and Boldy and now Pitlick and it’s like, “Who the hell is Rossi? Never heard of him.” This could work out really well contract wise.

    Benn looks terrible.

Rask. I take back all–err–well, several of the bad things I’ve said about him. And on a freaking power play no less.

it will be interesting to see if the Wild go up big early tonight (against a JV Hawks team) if Evason experiments with some lines just to take advantage of the situation and keep the players interested in the game. I can see him putting Rossi between Kap and Zuc just to appease the fanbase and maybe even give Marco a little confidence boost before he’s likely sent down to Iowa…

we’ll see, should be fun to watch!

Benn is our 7th defender and will likely spend 5 of every 6 games in the press box relieving Merrill.

Rask is still Rask, there’s no hope for any improvement, he was in the right place at the right time for his goal, go re-watch the Blues 3rd goal and tell me wtf he was doing in front of our net resulting in a deflection goal? I wouldn’t be surprised if GMBG is working the phones seeing if he can negotiate one of the bottom feeder teams with a ton of capspace into taking him (we’ll likely need to include a draft pick sweetener) just to eliminate the need to find a place for him (and give us $2 million is capspace back, we’ll likely need to retain 50%)

I don’t see them moving Rask. Why waste giving up any picks when he is gone after the year. They don’t need the cap space. Mgt seems to like him and he can move up and down the lineup and play center.

You always need capspace, especially in a flat cap world and around the trade deadline when you can get picks back as a broker…I’m mostly thinking that moving him (giving up no more than a 5th round pick (of which we have 2 of this draft) is in order to give one of the younger guys a spot to play in…he’s for sure gone after this season so why hold up a younger guys development for him? with Pitlick signed we now have a plug-in center option…

I think it sort of makes sense to move Rask, but I just dont know if its worth it. Yeah, we would have to retain salary and give them a pick, but is that worth giving a kid a shot over having a veteran or just burying him in Iowa or just scratching him? We will see, there will be injuries this season so it will play out somehow.
I really would like to see Rossi between Boldy and Fiala. Basically flip Gaudreau and Rossi in the projected lines. Rossi with Kaprizov and Zucc would be fantastic too, but I think flipping Gaudreau might be the better option.

I think we know by now that the coaching and management staff don’t view Rask the same way fans do. He’s not going anywhere, and I’m pretty confident Fiala would rather play with Rask as his center than Gaudreau. Fiala and Rask actually did well together last year, and Gaudreau does absolutely nothing for me offensively. Gaudreau is like the version of Eriksson Ek that Joe sees, “no offensive skill whatsoever”. Not a good player to stick Fiala with.

There’s 4 young forwards (Duhaime/Beckman/Boldy/Rossi) playing tonight and 4 regulars (Sturm/Greenway/Rask/Pitlick) that are sitting out. That leaves 1 spot open for those 4 young guys. I see Bjugstad as the 13th forward for most of the season so the young guys can either play or be in Iowa. Maybe Pitlick was picked up as a 13th forward too, I have no idea what to think of that move other than they don’t plan on putting him back on waivers.

I think the Wild’s belief in Rask is ONLY because they haven’t been able to move him at all and were stuck with him, but being in the last year of his deal should remove those trade barriers…

I think Ek does have offensive skill from 0-5′ away from the net max…He’s great at using his size and effort to get to lose pucks and jam them into the net, but relying on him to score outside of that zone or shot type is fruitless imo, I think playing with Kaprizov and Zuc will prove my theory about this in the first few games (he’ll fail on attempts they get him outside this 0-5′ scoring zone, but be successful on jamming lose rebounds & deflections from their shots)

That’s Ek’s game and I wouldn’t rule out that his success in that small area around the net turns out to be just as good (if not better) as last years output just based on the volume of chances Kap & Zuc create.

Everybody from the media to the GM to the players seem to think Gaudreau has some offensive skill. I’ve heard BG, Russo, the draft wiz guy we hired from Vancouver, Fiala, and Foligno all say he has a lot of underrated offensive skill, especially playing with Fiala because of some previous chemistry.

How true is it? I don’t know but that’s what they’ve been saying. I would be hard pressed to think Fiala wouldn’t pay someone to get Rask off of his line for just about anyone at this point.

I haven’t see it yet, but I did hear he had a hand issue early on in camp…all I know is that he looks bigger than his stats say he is…I think Fiala’s line will be the mad scientist line all year until they find people who sync with him… I feel bad for Fiala because it will effect his numbers for sure, maybe that GMBG’s hope for his contract sake?

I agree. I don’t see Rask going anywhere this season. Just no upside for the wild and/or a team that takes him. Wild are not going to need the cap space this year as I don’t think they are buying a rental at the deadline. I think they stick Pitlick with Fiala and Gaudreau, Rask and Bjugstad are your alternating forwards to start. All of who can play some center. I think Duhaime makes it as he is more suited for a non top six role and has more of an advanced defensive game then the other young guys. It’s a long season and injuries are going to happen so the solid depth the wild have now could be very helpful this season.

Bringing the kiddo to the game tonight so will probably be distracted on who actually played well.

put a shock collar on the kid for behavior purposes. Only JOKING of course. This will be fairly close to opening night roster. Fun to watch.

    Joe!

He won the draw and scored on a rebound a foot away from the goal (lol check out the replay, he damn near missed the net!)

Thats going to be his bread & butter this year, rebounds in the crease

This game should be a blowout by the 1st intermission.

Ha it’s great open seats all over they are just trying new seats in our section. He is in row five now I’m enjoying a cold one in row 15. Don’t worry Momma driving.

Is that EK’s first career PP goal?

How do you almost miss the net but score Joe.😂

Be nice if LaPanta and Carter would try calling the game instead of having five minute conversations about other things.
