Fleury to the Wild, pick is conditional, my guess is a 2nd that converts to a 1st if the Wild make the Conf finals…

Official conditions – 2nd rounder converts to a 1st IF Wild make it to the Conferance Finals AND Fleury wins 4 games total in the 1st 2 rounds)

I’m assuming it’s the Wild’s 2nd rounder (not the one we got from Arizona)

Just gotta throw this out there… There’s absolutely zero data or evidence to support the idea that small players get hurt more often than big players. The logic is easy to follow, but the real world says it’s not true. If size is important for the playoffs, it’s because size is needed to be effective. Not to survive.

I’m not talking about “official” injuries, it’s wearing down physically reducing the players effectiveness, so there won’t be an official metric to capture it, because players tough it out…Suter wasn’t officially hurt last year against Vegas, but go watch how slow and avoiding contact he played the last few games of that series…The bigger frames absorb the impacts better and take longer to break down..

Conditional pick makes way too much sense.

Yeah I said hurt, not injured. Every player is that goes deep in the playoffs is “hurt” – injured means they can’t play. Look at the laundry list that gets released after every cup final. Absolutely nothing anywhere says small guys get hurt or injured more than big guys. Things with no “official metric” are the easiest to make up your own narrative for.

Bad day for Talbot. This is a we will have to wait and see deal. I really don’t know if Fluery is much better than he showed in Chicago or if Chicago was just that awful in front of him. I didn’t watch enough Chicago games to get a feel for it. Wonder if he gets the start tonight against Vegas?

Chicago is terrible…obviously there’s no gaurentees with Fleury, but it sticks with GMBG’s opening of training camp statement of “it’s all about f’ing winning” This gives the Wild a better chance for sure…

The same thing as saying small players don’t get worn down more than larger players, i’ll stick with my logic, it agrees with the laws of physics…

for the fans who agrue this isn’t FAIR for Talbot, this is professional sports not your kids High School team where you complain about their playing time…

Talbot knows Fleury is better and will be a pro and be ready if Fleury gets pulled…

Shea Weber, Ben Chiarot, and even your boy Joel Edmunson all disagree with your logic. Injuries are the same in playoffs as they are in the regular season. Physical players get injured more, some players are injury prone, and then random stuff.

Same thing happened to Flower in 2020 when VGK got Lehner. He’s also one of the most loved players in the league. Talbot is a mature vet who’s spent a ton of time as a backup. No way this move causes problems in the lockerroom.

Can we call it a conditional 2nd instead of conditional 1st? Sounds like a better trade. But I really hope it ends up costing a 1st.

True and i think it’s safe to say he is. But BG certainly wants to give Fluery the net and not as a back up to Talbot. I don’t like Talbot as a backup either though and he’s admitted himself it’s hard for him to stay sharp if he does not get the lions share of the net.

Got their big fella D-man. He’s an RFA this summer so do they plan to keep him around?

No idea what happens in net after this season.

They still have Talbot under contract next year, they’ll then hunt for a cheap vet backup or pull up a Iowa guy for cheap as a last resort. They sign Wallstedt and he’ll be groomed in Iowa the next 2 years…

Obviously depends on how he plays, but he’s currently at $725,000aav so even with a small raise he’s still likely cheap to resign in the $1aav range…if he could replace Kulikov it could save the wild $1.25 in capspace…

I think Middleton needs 21 more games this season (Wild have 22+playoffs) or he becomes a group 6 UFA like Soucy was. I bet they try to extend him this offseason, but could be a trade asset if he is RFA and they don’t sign him.

That makes 6 LHD on the team right now, 4 under contract next year if we include Middleton.

I like what the wild did as far as trades. I think the moves put them real close to Colorado and Calgary.
They got faster stronger and IMO improved their weakest position in goal.
Whether it works out that way we will see.

So are we giving up the 5 round pick or are the Sharks? I’ve seen it written both ways on twitter from reliable people.

Sharks are getting their own 5th Rounder back. (Dubnyk trade)

Billy G made a bunch of moves, didn’t give a ton up, improved depth, and biggest splash was to improve the biggest weakness (goaltending). I’ve already talked myself into Flower being the reigning Vezina winner future HOFer and not the checked out 37 year old.

    In:
    G – Fleury
    D – Middleton
    C – Jost
    W – Delori-eh
    2022 2nd (VAN)

    Out:
    C – Nico Sturm
    G – Kaapo Kähkönen
    Rights to Jack McBain
    2022 1st (conditional)
    2023 3rd
    2022 5th (SJS)

I’m all in on Flower. Why not…If it don’t work out you lost one of 3 second rounders big deal.
They make it to the conference final and I think we will be at 200 pages no problem and getting drunk watching the wild in what June/July.

    Let’s go.
