Should we be worried if Jost won’t fit in with the team/locker room?

I really love how Dean incorporates ALL the coaches in the locker room talks. This builds the coaching staff as a team and players wont loathe the head coach so much. Not sure if Boudreau or others did this but its certainly obvious since Dean took over.

How is Greenway drinking a red bull before a game!?!? I would be puking after the my first shift if I was him.

Rouso wrote an article early this year that Deano started this when he took over and it was a big change in the locker room for the guys.

Pretty sure Deano gave the pregame speech for the Winter Classic and hasn’t been let in the locker room since.

Didn’t really notice Jost out there aside from the fishbowl. Wouldn’t be surprised if he takes the rest of this season and even part of next to really hit his stride. Hartman, Foligno, and Fiala all took about a full season with the Wild before becoming the key players they are now.

But isn’t he currently at 999 and tonight will be 1,000 ??

Everything I was reading on Twitter was making it out that tonight was 999 and they were doing the celebration in advance of his 1000th game. I didnt look at game logs to confirm however. Perhaps they were just making a big deal out of nothing seemingly as he is likely moving on. I bet he signs back on with the Flyers however after the season.

Yeah you’re right, HockeyDB still shows 999 today. So HockeyDB was either wrong or for some reason updated the games played hours before the start of their game.

Actually I looked it up and it is truly his 1000th game tonight. They havent played since Sunday. So much ado about nothing then I guess.

Oh I was thinking they played and had the celebration last night.

Omg the Lightning gave 2 x 1st round picks for Hagel… GMBG should get on the phone and see who he could sell with these prices!

That is a haul! They sold him high, the dude is shooting 22%!

Tampa with the “overpay” to keep their dynasty train chugging along. The bargain contract for 2 more seasons is what Tampa paid for. Paying a middle 6 player 4th line money for 2 more years will allow them to keep RFA’s like Cirelli and Sergachev.

It’s interesting to see everyone calling this deal so crazy. Tampa essentially swapped their 2 LATE 1st’s for Chicago’s 2 EARLY 4th’s – 75 picks between them. The “prospects” were 4th line cap dumps. One of the best deadline deals in recent years is Tampa giving up a 1st plus for Blake Coleman 2 years ago. Everyone freaked out about that overpay at the time but it turned out to be a great deal for Tampa. Hagel is on a cheaper contract for 1 more season than Coleman.

Ryan Hartman is the closest comp the Wild have.

But yes, absolutely well done by Chicago. Hagel was an unsigned free agent, so would be like if the Wild got that for Nico Sturm.

Yeah the Hawks GM did well on this one for sure.

Once these guys start to decline, Tampa could be in trouble with draft capital I would think. You’re not typically replacing guys like Stamkos with 4th round picks.

You’re not typically replacing guys like Stamkos with 4th round picks.

You’re typically not replacing them with 28th-32nd overall 1st rounders either. Tampa already hit the draft lottery with Stamkos, Hedman, Kuch, Vasi, Point, etc. and now doing whatever possible to win as many cups as possible with that group. Tampa is in dynasty mode and using their future 1st rounders to help them win now.

But yeah their prospect pool is bare bones and will be for the forseeable future. That’s the cap era NHL cycle.

Also correct. Pile up the championships and ride the slide and rebuild. TB/FL matchup would be a blast to watch.
You guys see Eichel got hurt? Took a puck to the hand. Vegas is in trouble. They are not in a playoff spot right now.

Very true about Tampa just maximizing their window at the expense of their longterm future…

Still if i’m GMBG and teams start calling about guys like Dumba or Fiala and are offering to pay through the teeth for them, I’m listening…

Side question- odds that Mark Stone miraculously gets better and swaps LTIR with Eichel again?

I’m sure it’s just an LTIR cap circumvention move to make room for Giroux, right? whistling

The battle of Florida last summer was like 6 full games of 3-on-3 OT. Just crazy non-stop rushes back and forth. The Florida Man style of hockey I guess and exactly what you would expect from an all Florida playoff series. It was a riot to watch.

Not many teams that are in win now mode have the cap space for either of those two.
Tampa can afford to go aggressive because they want another boat parade.
You are not worried about future assets. You are looking what it takes to win now.
    Must be nice…

I just ordered the big rig t-shirt from the hockey lodge. That commercial is hilarious and BG is priceless at the end. Greenway!

Sturm turned down a contract offer that was allegedly higher than what Jost is making. No brainer trade.

Talbot looking good so far. Couple sneaky saves that had been going in previously.

Glad I’m not the only one noticing this. We can replace him with a million guys that can fire a slapper over the net. He steps up at terrible times, seems to have zero situational awareness out there.

Scary game where the Wild totally outplayed the Hawks but we’re just 2 crazy bounces away from losing…

After all these years watching him, Patrick Kane is still a magician with the puck, does the guy ever NOT make the right play? Never a bad pass…
