I hope Bunting wins it just because of all the crybabies complaining about Kaprizov being 23 last year. Bunting is 26 and made his NHL debut in like 2018.

Holy crap I didn’t realize he was that old but that is hilarious.i hope he does too.

Pavelski off the market just signed a one year deal to stay in Dallas. Sounds like JT Miller is going to stay put as well.

This just increases the price for Giroux, hopefully the Avs overpay bigtime

I think the Av’s probably will over pay for Giroux but like the Wild they have more than one problem. I don’t see Kuemper as a Stanley Cup net minder no more than I see Talbot as one.

Glad to see Dewar in over Sturm tonight. He wasn’t good last night.

Whatever “jump” Bjugstad had when he came back from injury is long gone now…

Did I see a 4F/0D powerplay in the 1st period?? Great work by Deano and just a cerebral snipe by KK.

I think Dewar has been around the puck a lot and more noticeable playing center. Made some nice plays tonight.

Maybe if Sturm were out there to lose that 6v5 draw then CBJ wouldn’t have scored chased

it was either a dumb or selfish play by Ek to skate past the defense on the boards there…

Joel Edmundson is off IR and back to playing, he’d be a great pickup for the Wild this year and years to follow…Big size and mean & nasty…

I’m not a big fan of the amount of outdoor games the nhl has. I feel like they have too many each season now. Seems like they have been adding an outdoor game or two each season the last few years. Am I wrong?

The ice is generally crap or covered in snow and play just slows down way too much. The contests never seem to be representative of the standard indoor games – just whack at the puck and hope it bounces your way.

That being said, the jerseys are typically sweet and the atmospheres are cool too. I’m all for the winter classic, but all the others just seem kind of overrated to me.

Wild had cool Koivu warmup tribute jerseys. Brought my kid thought it might not start on time but 40 minutes come on now

Kunin should have let the other guys get trampled by the Moose.

We’re getting shots from up high with 3 of our guys down low but NONE of them in front of the net! Simple goalie catch and faceoff, rinse and repeat for Nashville…

You know it might seem elementary, but another benefit of having larger D is that they just consume more space to block shots and clog passing lanes, Nashville showing a perfect example of this tonight…

Every game that passes it appears more and more likely that the first round opponent will be the Blues (again). Although its possible they could drop to a wild card seed and get the Avs or Flames instead, which would be even worse.

every team goes through 1-3 bad stretches a year (Vegas is in a worse 10 game stretch right now than the Wild have been in)

    BUT

outside of a Rangers game that played their backup and looked disinterested from the opening puck drop, this team is a defensive nightmare right now and really isn’t showing much signs of pulling out of it…

and more interestingly if you look at their entire season sofar, they’ve been pretty much a defensive mess from the start, they’ve just been outscoring (or getting lucking 6-5 late in games) and getting wins to overcome the shoddy defensive play…

I’ve been focusing alot on just watching our D lately and Merrell and Goligoski are just a hot mess, there’s no sugarcoating it…they’re soft on the boards, softer in front of the net and their break out pass are either flips up the boards or off the glass or a flip high into the neutral zone…Dumba has also been making alot of bad decisions every night that leads to turn overs and chances given up (no surprise)

Kulikov has actually been pretty good, he’ll have the odd turnover here or there but it’s almost always in situations where the D need to try and make something happen because the forwards aren’t…

Brodin & Spurgeon have been pretty steady, but even they have been prone to alot of turnovers and bad spacing in front of the net (mostly becuase they can’t/don’t want to physically move anybody)

The good news is that it’s alot easier (and cheaper) to improve your defense vs offense. GMBG must know he needs to get alot bigger and defensively sound on the backend, it will likely come at the expense of an Addison, Kulikov and Dumba, but it NEEDS to happen for this team to compete moving forward.

The “value” contracts like Goligoski and Merrill are starting to play to their value. Although at 5M Goligoski is hardly a value. Kulikov can still move his feet and can stick handle his way out of problems but not the other two. Spurgeon and Brodin are looking like defenseman starting to feel their age of playing a lot of minutes and taking some beatings.

Dumba is Dumba and his play is going to be on a continual decline going forward. He kills offensive zone pressure by continuing to take bad shots when he should be looking to continue to hold the puck in the zone or creates turnovers. I still feel he’s on this team for the next couple years at least.

The tactic of pulling goalies early and scoring two to win or tie has run it’s course and the pendulum has swung the other way and the bag of tricks has gone empty for Evason. Bruins coming to town on Wednesday followed the Blackhawks and Vegas. Can we hope for four of the six available points?

Dumba’s attempted check from hell the other night vs Columbus in OT tells me everything I need to know about where his head is at…why on earth would a defender try to do that in their defensive zone 3 on 3 in OT is beyond comprehention…He missed and took himself and another teammate completely out of the play and ultimately got bailed out by the goalie…Lapanta’s confused “Dumba??? What was that” comment cracked me up, because it’s exactly what I was thinking as well…

Merrill is intended to be the #6 or #7 defenseman moving forward, I can accept that once he gets his minutes cut back… Goligoski was a swing and a miss, at least they didn’t extend him…I think Kulikov will get deal this offseason to free up much needed cap space, we’re stuck with Brodin and Spurgeon for 6 more years, they will be fine when paired with larger D partners to take some of the wear and tear off them…

If we could start next season with a Defense corp like the following, i’d be extremely happy:

    Spurgeon 5’9″ $7.57m- Joel Edmundson 6’5″ $3.5m
Brodin 6’2″ $6m- Nicolaus Hague 6’6″ $2m (i’m guessing he signs a modest 2-3 bridge deal off his ELC)
    Addison 5’10” $800k- Merrill 6’3″ $1.2m

total cap hit = $21 Million

vs this seasons $27.5 Million caphit

I picked Edmondson and Hague because they fit the need of big size and nasty attitude upgrades and I think they are actually attainable via trades..Hague (23 yrs old) is a RFA on a cap strapped Vegas team that already has their D core signed long term, Edmundson (28 yrs old) has 2 more years at $3.5aav on an aging Montreal D corp…

Yeah its been a roller coaster ride lately. We are not even posting as much now that they are losing. Winning is more fun.
Looking around the league a lot of teams have been struggling. Only like 8 teams in the league are over .500 the last 10 games. This condensed scheduled is going to be interesting down the stretch.

Friedman on TJMS says there is a lot of interest in Jack McBain, he’s heard Winnipeg but he’s also hearing Montreal and Arizona as well. Montreal and Arizona make sense because they are both looking for centers, they both have opportunity and they both have lots of picks.

McBain for Edmundson straight up? ;)

Arizona has like 5 x 2nd round picks this draft…

He does that at least once a game and is directly responsible for one or two more odd man rushes because of bad pinches. This is why I want him out instead of Fiala. He didn’t seem to be interested in the game yesterday either though….

If BG can swindle for Edmundson hes got larger stones than we already thought he had.

I could see Dumba getting traded to Arizona as well, he helps get them to the cap floor, they could use a veteran D man to help out their youngsters and then he gets them more assets next trade deadline.

Maybe McBain and a 2nd for Edmundson? Or McBain and Kulikov?
