Nice to see Greenway back. That line just plays better when they’re all together.

Agreed if one of them is gone it’s not the same. Likely chemistry but they are so good together. I wonder if they’ve been scored on 5×5 yet? They hadn’t been all season at one point but haven’t seen the stat recently and there has been injuries.

It messes up all the lines if that line isn’t together. Everyone is in the positions they should be when it is intact.

So Greenway is the straw that stirs the drink on the Wild! Whoda thunk it?!?

Certainly not me but you gotta give the kid credit. He’s been the energy for this team for a month or more when he’s been on the ice. I hope he can keep it going.

Look much better in front of the net tonight in the d zone. Now if Dumba would just stop pinching at the worst times possible…..

By the way the Fiala/Dumba score tonight is as follows mrgreen :

    Dumba -1
    Fiala +1

    Lots of game left though….

KK went down pretty awkward on his left leg when he tried that inside out move but got decked. Looks like he’s ok but that looked like it could have been bad when it happened.

I’ve been waiting for someone to step up on him like that. Tough decision though, if you miss him it’s over.

Kind of like the Merill/Spurgeon pairing. Gets a little more size out there with Spurgeon.

What a goal by Fiala. Getting that puck under control.

Sounds like the -1 guy will be on the team next year and the +2 guy won’t. Going to be hard to replace those points.

Colorado lost and the Blues are losing after 2 periods. Coyotes have laid 8 on the Red wings with half the third left! Wow.

Fiala needs to get the hatty now.

I’ve still seen several terrible defensive positioning plays by the Wild all game, difference this game is the Rangers aren’t taking advantage, still lots of bad habits the Wild needs to clean up.

All that said and they are still beating a good Rangers team (with their backup) by 3…

In all fairness I don’t think you can call this one of the Rangers better games. They are not very quick on the puck at all.

They are still giving up chances but the difference is guys are getting sticks on the passes going through the box. They weren’t doing that at all the last 10 games.

Definitely not the case but he brings a unique skill set. 6 ft 6 to a line that is built on size. Duhaime is speed with grit. Big difference in the makeup of that line. One takes time and space away with speed. Pairs well with others that do the same. Greenway takes time and space away with size much like his other line mates.
Lay Greenway Ek and Foligno length and reach across the ice and it covers a lot space.

Also a familiarity comfort thing. Allows the others to play the game they are used to comfortable with built to do. Miss a cog and the other cogs have to make up the work for the broken one. Not something some players can do.

Panarin might be a wizard with the puck on his stick but he has to be one of the worst skating “superstars” i’ve ever seen… just a clunky as hell skating stride, he does have decent tight space edgework though…

Amazing how different a team can play without having to chase 5 as well.

Definitely. Talbot looked a lot quieter tonight. Seemed much more solid.

Sounds like the McBain signing isnt going to happen and Guerin has told teams he is available and told McBain’s agents to provide a list of teams. Kinda bummed about this. He is a huge guy. Thought he would have been a great Sturm replacement next year.
BG says he wants a 2nd Rounder, but how do you think he gets that when the NHL all knows he isnt signing with the Wild and BG is trying desperately to get something?

Unfortunately one of several costly moves that are going to happen because of the cap crunch.

I don’t think this has anything to do with cap situation. McBain doesn’t see how he slots in with current rostered players and Rossi.

Hey I know lets talk about face offs! razz Apparently Deano worked the boys azzes off in practice yesterday which was focused on winning face offs. Seems it payed off as they were 56%. Been awhile since that happened. And oh Foligno’s goal came off a set play by the Wild winning a face off in their own zone and was the insurance goal at the time. They had the Rangers running around in their own zone with their tongues hanging out when Georgiev smothered puck. The Wild lost the ensuing face off allowing the Rangers to make a much needed line change. Otherwise the Wild could have possibly racked up another one.

Oh well on we go. The wings are going to be surly at home tomorrow night after letting the Coyotes dump nine on them last night! Nothings going to be easy going forward.

exactly, if anything signing him would help the capcrunch as he would be a $800k salary for 2 years. This is the risk in not signing college players by their junior year (McBain’s junior season was average at best) if they blow up their Senior year they just need to wait until July/August to become a UFA and play where it makes the most sense for them.

It’s really a no brainer for McBain, sign a 2 year deal with the Wild locked in at $800k aav and be a likely 4th line sacrificial Iowa waiver casualty when needed or sign somewhere like Seattle/Ottawa/Arizona and play every game with a larger aav contract.

I asked Russo to provide details on the LTIR theory for his next Worst Seats in the House podcast, hopefully he answers it.

    answer straight from the source!

Strange that the TSN guys mentioned it though on HNIC…

That’s pretty much what we thought. Weber might be a target for some teams like Vegas though if Stone’s “back” issue doesnt clear up. Since Eichel came they are terrible. Its not his fault though, but they have really faltered.

Well I missed a few games, and looks like that was mostly a good thing (Buffalo comeback wtf?!?!?)

But after last night, are the Wild good again?? Are they finally off the schneid?? Or did they just win because Shesterkin was sitting on the bench?

They were definitely playing more like themselves last night. Cam was fairly solid. I wouldnt say their back yet, but it was definitely promising.

The Wild look much more like themselves yes. But the Rangers looked pretty uninterested most of the time. Slow to get to the puck and just didn’t seem to have the energy. Certainly helped Shesterkin was not in the net. But we will certainly take anything that helps the confidence level right now.

Looking around the standings there are very few teams that are winning 7 of 10 like earlier in the year. I think the season is starting to wear teams down. Injuries are piling up. Blues have lost 4 in a row. If we would have been better the last few games we would be solidly in 2nd.

The trade deadline coming probably factors in to. I’m sure it’s a distraction for a lot of players who could possibly be part of a trade deal it’s hard to ignore it. BG has basically told the team it’s up to them so I guess that would signal he has no big plans to shake the team up until the off season but still you never know. Sometimes BG doesn’t always say what he means.

Just a nod to Mark Parrish. He’s doing the Warroad, Monticello game right now. He seems to be everywhere lately. Bally Sports of course, NHL Network and now doing the MSHL tourney. Nice to see a guy face his demons and win. Hopefully he can keep them at bay. It’s not a easy thing to do.
