You don’t say that about Addison! LOL but for real I thought he was really good against Calgary at the X.

I know! I hated even typing it out. I will try and pay more attention to him tonight to see if my eyes have been deceiving me. I think he has a lot of nice tools.

I don’t think this has been brought up yet. Everyone wants Dumba gone, but since he’s been out, our physicality and wins have been missing. Maybe he is the leader/locker room guy that we can’t get rid of. Aaand he brings a bit of sand paper to our defense. I know he’s not big, but he does throw his weight around a bit (he even generates some offense too).
Adding Dumba and Greenway back might calm some nerves and change these attitudes.

That’s definitely a valid theory, but didn’t they go on long winning streaks with Brodin and/or Spurgeon out of the lineup. Does that logic work both ways?
    [/quote]

I think you just reiterated what I said. Didn’t they have Greenway and Dumba in the lineup during that span?

I most certainly did not, I just pointed out the flawed logic. If they are losing now because Dumba is out, does that mean they won before because Spurgeon/Brodin were out?

Well I should have actually said good at 5v5. He’s been disappointing on the powerplay. But I think it’s a poor choice to have Goli running the 2nd unit and Addison on the wall. Addison should QB the powerplay or not be on it all.

His strength is he’s an automatic breakout at 5v5, and it’s pretty hard to get scored on if you’re not playing in your own end.

I think Simon Johansson will get a look, not sure if they need to officially offer him a pro contract to at least try out for Iowa? If so, we have open contract slots we could use (Czuzman and Lizotte are on their last year in Iowa) There’s ZERO flash to his game, but he could be a good injury callup in the future years like a Mermis… He’s 6’2″ 190, so he’s a Brodin clone, good height but no bulk…Philip Johnasson is done with the Wild and we’ll get the last 2nd round pick this year for our 1st round mistake years ago…

Yes, the Wild hasn’t drafted the 6’4″+ guys you see Vegas and some teams focusing on, but the guys they have recently drafted (outside of Peart as I said) all have thicker frames and are already close to 200lbs as junior players, once they get into a professional workout/diet program they will add more muscle…

it will be interesting to see if the Wild can sign Ben Meyers (UFA) and Jack McBain this month once their college seasons are over with (BC likely to lose 1st round, Gophers who knows?) If so that nails the coffin (it’s already bsically shut) on Sturm’s Wild future (perhaps he’s then dealt at the deadline for whatever GMBG can get)

There’s 2 bigger defenseman (Travis Mitchel 6’3″ & Brandon Scanlon 6’4″) in the top Collge UFA group that could interest the Wild as well…

Meyers is having quite the season. The Wild would be lucky to get him but other teams have to be high on him too.

Meyers won’t be available before the deadline. So doubtful they move Sturm.
I mean it’s not like they would get anything in return.
Can’t see them swapping out fourth line centers like McBain when they can afford both right now.

You can bet Yeo is going to have the Flyers ready to play against the Wild tonight. The boys are pretty much on the hot seat so I expect them to be focused. I’ll take a stab and go 4-2 Wild.

Some opponent is going to feel the wrath of the Wild’s recent frustrations…My guess is the Sabers tomorrow night… I think tonight’s game will be tight…

Sure hope they can find their offense. That’s been the worst part of this. I think you could see our D and goalies bleeding goals but we had an offense that could cover that. The last week we haven’t even been able to pass to each other.

Sabres just beat the Leafs so they are feeling pretty sporty about themselves I bet. Anything less than four points is a fail.

Bronwell: I was like, “They’re giving up already, calling up this f-ing 4-foot-5 defenseman?” Then, he ends up being captain. I mean, what a story. He just writes it himself. He walked in that room, and everybody looked at him as this short little kid. Honestly, when they sent him down to Houston, we did not think we would see him until the following year’s training camp. It was such a surprise. I remember even talking to the guys when he got called up. Everybody was like, “Who’s that guy?” Nobody really knew him. He was a complete unknown. And he’s 32 years old now and still looks like he’s freaking 16, 17 years old.

Bronwell: My 14-year-old daughter used his old sticks and his old elbow pads when he would get new ones. I’d just take his old stick home: “Ash, you got a new stick.” She’s like, “Ah, sick. I don’t have to cut it or anything.”

Some of the better quotes from the Athletic piece on Spurg….

Great article. Yeo thought he was the stick boy! jester

Did I read right that at one point we had Spurgeon and Tyler Johnson in the same camp? That could’ve injected some much needed offense into those teams

Talbot can’t stop a beach ball right now. How are you a foot off your angle when the guy comes in at you from the side? Absolutely brutal.

Da fuq was Talbot doing on that goal? Half his right pad was outside the right post when Laughton came in.

Wtf is Talbot doing on that play? Why are BOTH defenseman cyclying down low at the same time?

This team has completely forgot how to play hockey….

Sheesh Talbot. Needs to work on angles and not getting so deep in the net.

Wow was Cam’s positioning terrible on that goal.
To many cute passes on the blue line already and not just the one the lead to the goal.
