That game last night almost convinces me the NFL is rigged. KOC either did it on purpose or is completely inept. How you play that defense the whole is game is mind boggling. Maybe I giving him too much credit, but I just don’t think he is that stupid. The whole team looked lost.

Team appears again to be a middle of pack team, but it is only 2 games in and it is a long season.

This is a reminder why I don’t pay much attention until December.

Jefferson was absolutely schooled by Slay. Jefferson will be a stronger player … smart kid and will learn from his mistakes.

Vikes had three drives end in the redzone. Threading the needle was not in the cards last night as our receivers were just outmuscled in the secondary.

Sometimes you just hit a QB on the wrong night – Hurts had one of his best games ever … will see if it is sustainable.

Lincoln field is not that easy a place to play an away game.

I am disappointed and thought the performance was pathetic but lets keep in mind the Eagles are a really good team. You think defending Jalen Hurts is easy!!!? If you play man your back is turned to him and he will rush for 200 yards against you. you must play zone an use a spy but doing so exposes holes and they have three terrific receivers in Brown, Smith and Goedert. Hurts was throwing the ball with poise and accuracy all night long. If he is playing like that the Eagles will win a lot of football games.

Im guessing Donitelle was banking on the fact that we could get home with 4 rushers. Well last night that wasnt the case or at least wasnt the case enough. I agree that they should have made some adjustments and brought blitzes more or mixed up the coverage a little more but honestly i think the Eagles team was just better than us last night plain and simple.

My bigger concern was the offense. Irv Smith played terribly and was given many opportunities to make a big impact. I dont know why they didnt throw the ball to Thielan more. They did throw some swing passes to Cook but he was always brought down behind the line. they need to send cook to run 5 yard stop routes so he can serve as the check down option and Irv can run different routes.

Like i said very disappointing game but honestly i didnt think the Vikings would win this game anyway. I didnt expect such a poor performance though.

Lions next week. not so sure thats a gimme anymore. They are looking much improved

Agreed, but the problem with that is they were playing a soft zone on the back end with 6+ yards of cushion. So they ran 3 step and the WR’s took the easy money underneath, with no chance for the rush to get home. At some point they needed to come up and play a press zone or switch to man press, that forces Hurts to a second to third read, but never did.

Philly was simply a better team last night. The better team won. I think every team in the NFL is going to have a game or two like the Vikings did last night. Thats just the way football is these days. I thought going into the season that the Vikings Def. would be a little better, but after last night I’m not so sure. If the Def. doesn’t play better than they did last night, its going to be another long season. The style of the Vikings Off. is to play in a close game or from ahead. Its really not designed well to play from Behind. The running game sets up the pass. Its hard to stick with a run 1st plan when you get 2 scores or more behind. When the vikings rush for only 62 yards and 20 of those are scrambles from the QB, That is not good. 42 yards rushing from the RB’s is not going to get it done !!!!

Agreed. And their playmakers are great after the catch which doesnt help for defending those quick underneath routes.

Im not panicking yet, but as good as they looked against GB they were the polar opposite against the Eagles. That was a terrible showing. The Irv Smith drop was just the icing on the cake. Had he made that catch its almost certainly a TD and a much different game. It was irritating watching them just pick apart the defense who didnt seem to make any sort of adjustments. Hurts impressed me. I didnt think he had it in him, but last night he certainly showed up.

Irv Smith played terribly and was given many opportunities to make a big impact.

He had several opportunities to make impact plays and on third downs and with that long drop that would have been an easy TD. He needs to win his one on one battle against a smaller CB. If he had caught that long pass for a TD, the score would have been 21-14 in the third quarter and may have taken a different turn.

Hurts is the real deal. He’s been a good runner since he came into the league but now it looks like he’s refined his passing too. Kinda looks like a more athletic version of Josh Allen. Eagles might be winning that division instead of Dallas now.

I dont think Dallas is going to win that division with Dak being out.

Initially, I didn’t think so either. However, after watching them on Sunday beat Cincy, they could hold down the fort until he returns.

You could actually argue that Dallas looked worse WITH Dak against Tampa in week 1 than they did in week 2 without him against Cincy. Both games were at home in Dallas too.

I suppose, but Cincy is a hot mess with their O-line. Burrow is going to get killed.

You’re thinking of the last regimes offense for 8 years, there has been no evidence this is going to be run first ball control offense.

Again alert the Preposterous Statement Tournament! Hurts played well last night. The week before against Detroit he complete 56% of his passes for 243 yards and 0 TD’s. He has 1 passing TD on the year. He had easy pickings last night, by (poor) design. He has 23 TD’s and 14 INT’s in his career. Josh Allen had 36 TD’s and 15 INT’s last year. Hurts may end up being good, and having a good year, but he has leaps and bounds to get on Josh Allen’s level at anything.

Ya I should have mentioned it reminded me of Allen when he was in his first couple years in the league, not now (or last year). Minor detail lol

It’s one game. The Eagles got a couple of critical breaks that could have gone for Vike’s TDs but didn’t. I expect the Vikes will bounce back with a much better effort at home vs. the Lions. If they don’t, it will be time for the Viking faithful to worry.

I hope you end up being correct on this one. All I keep hearing is that the Vikings Off. is going to be different this year and that the Def. is going to be better. Neither of these things were true last night.

Its only 2 games into the season. We will have to see what happens over the next few weeks to see who they will be this season.

They flat out sucked. That being said if Irv catches the TD, no dumb TO call at end of half, Dude gets his balance after block FG and scores, NO stupid INT after interception returned to 8 yard line. They still sucked but would have ended alot different.

Maybe a preseason snap or two might help the starters?

Said the packers last week. Very few play starters in the preseason. Those guys get beat up enough during the season.

Not trying to be a smart a$$ but why is it all these “new age” managers & coaches have to change stuff that has worked for decades?

Game plans changed in part because the rules changed. You can’t just beat the crap out of another teams players, run the ball 50x and win 7-3 anymore. Rules benefit offense, therefore offense rules the game. I think it’s also just natural innovation. The game itself has had an influx of money over the past 50 years. With money comes more talent, more interest from bright minds, more time and effort dedicated to putting a winning team on the field. All of that leads to changes as teams try to beat their opponents with new principals.

To cross reference another sport, I miss the pistons of the late 80s and early 90s too but those days are gone

    1. They now play 17 games instead of 14 like they did in the “good old days”

2 linemen weigh 350 now instead of 250

3 medical training and research has advanced a lot in the last few decades.

4 you are paying players 30 million a season vs less than 30k a season.

I agree, on paper the Timber Puppies are a bonafide playoff team. The Vikings…well I still think they are going to be a playoff team, but not as certain. Neither one is really going anywhere IN the playoffs though. You can add the Wild to that list too. Playoff team, yes. Beyond that, no.

Facts: Cooper Rush is a pro and can keep his team competitive until Dak is healthy.

Cinnci spent a bunch of money on the O line after it was exposed in the playoffs. It will take them a little while to play off each other. Burrow and Chase might be the next Montana Rice and that is not exaggerated.
