There’s gonna be a whole lotta national media and analysts that come out of the wood work this week on the Vikings. Until now, they were not thought of as a “contender” because of their lack of quality opponents/wins. That tune will change heavily this week.

Congrats to the Vikes! toast I think they are getting better by the week. Vikes and Eagles have to be the favorites in the NFC.

they had the 13th most difficult strength of schedule so they haven’t been playing cupcakes. Buffalo in my opinion is the best in the NFL so to beat them in their house speaks volumes. Philly has one of the easiest strength of schedules out there so far too…….Any given sunday

Erin has a wrist wrapped so isn’t throwing the ball. But they are only getting beat 28-14 and the faithful aren’t booing yet.

On a side note, the center for the Cowboys grew up and played high school football 60 miles from Green Bay. I bet a special game for him.

The vikes were down 17 pts and I said we’re still in it. I also was doing my laundry and folding it when much of the good stuff happened but OMG that catch by Jefferson!!! My goodness

It is hard to deny this is a magical season. This game could very well be a preview of the Superbowl. How epic would two 0-4 Superbowl teams be especially after that game today? The Diggs v Jefferson storyline is awesome and JJ definitely won that contest today.

That was the best regular season game I’ve ever seen! So many awesome plays and huge swings in momentum, my beard got significantly more gray from that game I’m sure. rotflol

That was for sure one of the most entertaining football games I have ever seen. When they were down 17 I said they were still in it and I believed it. Cousins did not have a great game, but came up clutch again when he needed to. That one INT was hideous. I still cannot get over that JJ catch. One of the most impressive ones it was like a contested Tyree catch from that Superbowl years ago. Still not sure how he managed to come away with it when the defender had both hands on it! Kid’s a stud!

The JJ catch was reminiscent of Odell Beckham’s one handed catch when he was a rookie on SNF. Even the Diggs one handed catch was insane too.

Here’s hoping that the Commanders pull off a massive upset tonight over the Eagles.

My uncle won his 7th state championship (as coach) against this guy’s team his senior year.

Interesting note about the Cowboys center…he played his senior season as a RB/FB, MLB. 4 months after walking across the stage at graduation he was starting for the Badgers at CENTER, on a Big 10 offensive line. He went from ~230 – 305# in 4 months shock He’s a great humble guy that was crazy talented.

The opening line for the Dallas-Minnesota game next Sunday is favoring the Cowboys by 2 points on the road. That is a slap in the face. The Vikings are at home and they have a better record. Apparently people still aren’t sold on the Vikings.

Good, I hope the Vikings are dogs the rest of the regular season. Hasn’t been an issue thus far.

So I haven’t seen any meaningful discussions online for both the no call for 12 men on the field the Bills had for the Cousins sneak stuff play or the “prevent defense” the Vikings played the final 45 seconds that allowed the Bills to march 65 yards for a chipshot tieing FG?

The no call for 12 men is just inexcusable for the NFL Refs to miss, isn’t that the sole responsibility of the back judge every pre-snap? I know the NFL put out a statement saying they screwed up by not reviewing the 20 yard out pass in OT that obviously hit the ground, but no mention of the missed 12 men call? That would have given the Vikings 1st down on the 1 vs Cook getting stuffed for a loss…

and the Vikings prevent defense? Can somebody explain to me the mindset of it? Are the Vikings coaches just willing to give up the FG vs the threat of giving up a TD? is that the play? I heard it mentioned on KFAN, but they got sidetracked on a different topic and never brought it back up…

That’s literally what EVERY team in the NFL does when its 3rd & long or the game is nearing the end with a slim lead. The Vikings are not the only team that plays this way.

As to why everyone does it? Well the idea on 3rd & long is to keep everything in front of you and then make a tackle before the opposition can reach the 1st down sticks, thus forcing 4th down and a punt. Why teams play prevent defense when they’re only up 3 to give up big chunks of yardage? Not really sure. As you stated, they’re probably more worried about getting beat deep for a TD instead.

Why not play the DB’s outside/in towards the mid-field protecting the sidelines, the 10-15 yard out routes are uncontested, if those guys get tackled on the field it’s likely game over…i’m asking because i’m not a football expert, just looking for a good explanation…

Vikings win the North. Next obstacle for the Vikings will be whether or not to rest guys the last few meaningless weeks of the season when they’ve already got the division and a bye wrapped up.

Let’s bump this up from September 25th.

The Vikings are headed to the SB. The Eagles are great but rely on a ton of inexperienced guys at key positions. The rest of the NFC is a dumpster fire. Maybe the 49ers can make some noise…but they still only have Garoppolo at QB. The Cowboys just showed how they’re not for real.

    SB Prediction:

    Chiefs 34, Vikings 24

Its a legit question. I wonder about it too. The defensive coordinators that call it have the real answer. lol

Because you can’t give up a deep TD down the middle and lose the game. Every team does it in that situation.

I get that, I’m arguing for playing the CB’s to shade the sidelines more vs the middle of the field where the LB’s and Safeties are playing…I get the strategy when the offense has a good chunk of time remaning or at least 1 timeout left, but with 45 seconds left and no timeouts, if you make 1 tackle on the field its going to eat a majority of that time left…

I also get that if the team needs to score a TD, you’re a little more ok with it as the field to defend gets alot smaller the closer to the goaline they get, but when protecting against a FG it’s basically giving up imo…

It certainly is frustrating to watch, but the bend don’t break strategy seems to work for them when it counts. I think the main reason for it is that they don’t have the cornerback talent to play more aggressively.

Another stat that I want to throw out is a Kirko stat. For as bad as he was in the first half, he was 12 for 14 with 232 yards and a TD on third and fourth downs. Last year’s Kirk, doesn’t turn his performance around after a half like that.

His stats aren’t on pace for what they were last season either. He only threw 7 INTs all of last season and already has 8 now halfway through this season.

And yet he’s coming up big in the important parts of games. Which is a big reason why they are 8-1. Everyone complained that he needed to be more aggressive well, guess what comes with that? Not to mention it’s a brand new system for him.
