Its looking very likely that the Eagles will be the NFC’s top seed and earn a bye so they probably won’t run into the Eagles until the conference championship, should they both make it that far.

We are already saying were in the Championship game? The competition is looking weak but not sure I’m going to agree with this. I hope like we all do that they shore up some of the weaknesses and if they do maybe we make it that far.

I agree, I’m just spitballing and theorizing here.

The Eagles might have an easier schedule remaining than the Vikings do. They still play Dallas again on the road and the Giants twice, and a home game against the Titans. But other than that the rest of their schedule is against sub .500 teams.

NFL, Not For Long, the Eagles (or Vikes or anyone) are going to be significantly different teams between now and the end of the season. Whether it’s injuries or scheme or off field things, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that the leader in Week 7 and the leader at the end of the regular season can change drastically. Only 1/3rd of the hay is in the barn.

    September 25, 2022:

Vikings win the North. Next obstacle for the Vikings will be whether or not to rest guys the last few meaningless weeks of the season when they’ve already got the division and a bye wrapped up.

    …you heard it here first

Maybe in most years, but in the case of the Eagles, they have a quarterback who squatted 500 lbs in high school. I know a lot can change in 2/3 of a season, but you don’t just go from being able to squat 500 lbs in high school to not being able to squat 500lbs a few years later. I have reason to believe he squatted 600lbs while he was in college.

Key injuries to big players like AJ Brown or Darius Slay could slow them down as those guys are balling out. But even if the injury bug hits them Jalen Hurts squatted like 600 lbs in college. You think Kirk Cousins ever squatted 600 pounds? I personally think it’s unlikely.

And they just dominate in the trenches, OLine and DLine are just big strong men, not unlike Jalen Hurts, who squatted 500lbs/600lbs in high school and college respectively.

They just won a super bowl a few years ago too, which just seems unfair, because they won with a backup QB in our own stadium, and then like a couple years later they get a young QB who honestly is starting to look like a QB who we’ll be watching squat videos of for many years to come.

It’s like they say in the MLB, squats don’t slump. It’s going to be hard to knock off the eagles as long as they have ‘Sir Squats a lot’ under center.

What’s scary is that Jalen Hurts is so young still, he may not have even reached his final form! What’s going to happen once he squats 650 lbs? 700 lbs? Do you think the league is ready for that? He could change the game.

    AJ Brown or Darius Slay

As I was watching SNF last night, its obvious that its not JUST because of Hurts either. They are really good on the defensive side of the ball too, especially in the secondary. The addition of Bradberry opposite side of Slay makes for a tough matchup for any pair of WRs. Fletcher Cox is still a big run stuffer up the middle. And obviously adding a weapon like AJ Brown can’t hurt.

What does how much a QB squat have anything to do with actually playing QB? I could see a RB or lineman, but QB?

Haven’t posted in some time but it’s good to see the Viking optimism is still out there.

I don’t think the Vikes have hit their stride offensively, AND they are winning games they used to lose. 5-1 is a great start.

Are you saying that it doesn’t mean….squat? How can you put a team on your shoulders with those tiny little bird legs that Cousins has?

Well we could be here talking about how we gave up 450+ yards to the Miami Dolphins, or how we punted 10 times yesterday, or we could talk about how Jalen Hurts can squat 1.5x the body weight of the average IDO user?

Good to hear from you again sir, I remember playing in the IDO fantasy football league with you a few years ago.

I watched Hurts play in college a good amount for both Bama and Oklahoma. That guy has come a long way with his passing game. In college he couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn

Hate to disappoint you Glenn but he had 48 touchdowns, 12 interceptions & a 148.8 passer rating at Alabama. In addition to a National Title in 2017. The kid can play.

Man, I guess you guys didn’t watch the Eagles/Vikings game, they wouldn’t stop talking about Hurts squats, they even showed the video of it like 5 times. It was funny at first, but then was just super annoying lol.

Honestly this might be the first year we didn’t have one. I really love fantasy football and have fun doing it but with two young kids now I hardly have the time to look into it. I miss it but don’t miss paying attention to random Raiders/Jets games just to follow one player jester

I’m guessing Glenn remembers Alabama lost the 2017 National Championship to Clemson. And Hurts got pulled in the 2018 Natty for Tua who led an amazing comeback W.

Sorry was unaware of the squating talk that happened during that game. Luckily I missed that one entirely.

Read some very interesting stats yesterday that I think provide a good reason for why the Vikes have the record they do and have won those close games.

Vikes have committed the 5th fewest turnovers and force the 5th most turnovers in the NFL.

Vikes have the highest average starting field position (32-yard-line) in the NFL and their opponents are starting with the worst average field position in the NFL. I don’t have the punter stats but we all know he’s been putting them in great spots.

Two more intangibles to figure in; one is the new regime. Could go on about what that means but it really seems in general like the team gels better and enjoys showing up every day much more than the last few years.

The more they keep winning the more their culture will reflect that. Compare that to the GB or TB locker rooms, two teams that expected much more and are struggling. The Vikes have the benefit of being a 5-1 team and that should reflect in their confidence.

Those numbers as they pertain to NFL rankings are pretty huge. In my opinion it’s why they can get away with a “decent at times” offense and an “ok” defense and still be 5-1.

I don’t know if its still true, but someone pointed out the week before they beat Miami that the Vikings were the least penalized team in the entire NFL. They also had not been called for an offensive holding penalty once through the first 5 games. Penalties are drive killers on offense and they give first downs to opposing offenses when you’re committing them on defense. IMO, penalties are also a reflection of coaching because if the players are constantly committing them in the game, they’re certainly doing it in practice too. And if they’re doing it in practice, they should be running laps. Other than turnovers, you could argue that penalties are the second most important turning point in a game.

Easy boys. They beat Detroit & Chicago who aren’t much to talk about. Beat a Miami team without their quarterback and beat a Green Bay team without a wide receiver.

They aren’t exactly beating the good teams of the NFL. True they are beating those put in front of them. Things change fast.

    Exactly Dutchy!
They’re a pretty good team in a terrible division. True they’re winning the type games they didn’t last year, but a really good team would be winning against these teams decisively.

For a first year regime it’s outstanding and I think they only go up from here. I really like KOC, not sure Donatell sticks around but I believe the collaborative brain-trust at TCO Center will work out the kinks.

But I think this will be another typical Minnesota “at least were a competitive team” 1st round playoff exit. Hopefully our draft goes better next year.
