2nd son and I are out. Nice and frosty. Had a bit of action so far. A fork and a small 6 put on a fun show just 20 yards in front of us for 10 minutes.

1 doe so far. Lots of shots around me. Most from the same area. Sounded like most were misses.

That’s a weird place to keep your hat.😂

I like the fork G2 on that one.

Lots of deer movement this morning along with a lot of shooting around me. I need to get my doe tag filled asap before I need to pass another nice buck. Im sitting on a large bench just off lots of thick bedding.

Second afternoon in a row of absolute chaos. Even with the pouring rain, buck chasing does everywhere. At one point yesterday I had 5 bucks chasing at once.

Well hopefully patience paid off, though I am thoroughly disgusted again with rage broadheads. Lost a huge buck years ago when I first tried them. Had a flashback tonight when I retrieved my arrow. With all the great reviews, tried the new NC Rage. I watched the pass through a little forward of what I would like. But any ther rage broadhead that passed through and didn’t open.

32 yrds – few drops of blood at impact, at about 20 yrds a couple drops and again around 40 yrds.

Backed out for the night flame

What a glorious day to be in a stand. Easily the nicest weather for an opener in years. 43 degrees, partly cloud, virtually no wind. Saw a couple smaller bucks today plus a doe and a fawn. Tons of pheasants.

Good luck on the recovery Randy.
Haven’t shot the style in your picture but did shoot the +p on a few animals with good results.

I started using SevR broad heads last year. They make an 1.5” cut and a 2” cut. Have to order them strait from SevR.
So far I like them a lot. Very very tough head that penetrates very well for a mechanical.
They do have a rubber band on them but if you set your quiver up to handle them they work awesome.

Sitting here waited ng for light and just stewing on this. I love DRT fixed blades. I’m out and couldn’t find them locally and opted to try these no collar rages. This is the last mechanical I’ll ever try. Deer has to be dead, was a good hit. But no blood trail in wet crap is tough….then if the coyotes found it first.

There was more blood on the shaft that on the ground

Well, day one ended with no deer being shot. Right when I was relaxing for the evening, all gear put away, My oldest tells me he hit a deer on the drive home. So, we got it and had it all gut and hung by 11. ” Camp meat”…. 🤷‍♂️👍

Time for day 2! Good luck everybody. Cinch up your straps. She’s gonna be a blustery ride today!

Back in the same stand as yesterday. I bumped a deer on the way in yesterday afternoon and that was it. Hopefully the park clears out a bit after the weekend and I can start bouncing around a bit.

Saw these two last night. The small 8 ended up chasing a doe out of my field at last light. Allowed me to sneak out.👍

Good luck Randy! The hunting public crew ditched using mechanicals too for the same reasons.

Still looking and feeling discouraged. Just ran in to check some trail cams to see if I have any pics after I shot. Nothing.

If I was greedy and carried my bow with me, I could have shot this guy about 10 times today.the fact I’m out walking around hasn’t phased him

Here is my favorite blade DRT. This one has been through 2 deer so far

Randy do they still make the DRT? I haven’t seen them around. Shot a couple of elk with them and had great results.

Yup, ditch the mechanicals! I had great luck with slick tricks as suggested on here years ago. Flew like field points and killed the deer! I truly hope you find your deer as that’s the worst feeling ever!

Had a deer blow past like a tumbleweed. No clue if it was a buck or a doe. Seemed to have 9 legs. 🤷‍♂️

Holy hurricane out there today. I stuck it out until about 3pm and then a birch tree near me went crashing down. That was enough of a sign for me to leave lol

Shot a doe tonight, unfortunately the arrow defelcted and the arrow smells like guts maybe caught liver to. I have tomorrow off so I will hunt somewhere else in the morning and then take the track up
