Some of these suburbs/cities have special archery hunts. My friend is an avid archery hunter and he signs up for them regularly. On Friday, November 11, in the evening he arrowed this nice buck during a lottery drawn special archery hunt in the city of Shorewood. He is required to pass an annual archery marksmanship certification to participate in these urban hunts. Sometimes they only allow the harvest of anterless deer since the goal is to reduce the herd. But in this case he could take a buck, and it was a nice one.

Used to rent a house in Chanhassen down the road from target, we had huge bucks in the back yard. I always wanted to stick one. But with 3 neighbors being lawyers I didn’t find it to be a good idea.
Yeah, still to this day the biggest buck I’ve ever seen was 5 years ago right behind the office, it was a monster 12 point with double drop tines. Unfortunately, it got hit crossing highway 5 later that week.
deertrackerPosts: 9231November 23, 2022 at 8:41 am #2161136Seen a giant yesterday evening crossing a busy county road in town. It was chasing a doe. We almost had a city hunt this last fall but the city council ended up voting no.
DTNovember 23, 2022 at 9:09 am #2161149I have dreams of shooting a giant fork. Beautiful deer.
DTHe thinks that one side broke off because it only has 3 points. The other side has 5.
Sometimes he’s hunting right in a city park. People will be walking by with their dog and they have no clue he’s there.

Lots of cities do this. It actually a great opportunity to shoot a huge urban deer. Anoka is one place I’d love to get in on. Or any where near federal. Working at federal I’ve seen the biggest bucks of my life.
November 23, 2022 at 11:43 am #2161199On that note, here’s a couple little 6’s sparring out my office window just now.

November 23, 2022 at 12:15 pm #2161215And just a minute ago a real big 10 came thru, making it 6 years since we’ve been here I’ve seen a monster from my office chair. Should be in the woods instead of the office, they are up and moving right now! lol
deertrackerPosts: 9231November 23, 2022 at 1:15 pm #2161239Question for all the Wisconsin hunters how is the hunting pressure near you? I’m not complaining, but it is amazing. How little pressure we have around us. I had to make a run into town today and it’s almost white ghost town. Just no one I would hunting. This is the most peaceful deer hunting season in Wisconsin I have ever experienced.

cool pic. you saw more action from your office than most people do from the stand. good stuff.
deertrackerPosts: 9231November 23, 2022 at 8:34 pm #2161368Ended up seeing a fork at 3. A small 6 at about 350 and a very big buck chasing a doe about 5. Found this giant scrape on the way out. Watched the small 6 pee in it as it passed.

deertrackerPosts: 9231November 24, 2022 at 5:43 am #2161406Good morning. Buck I’m after has used 5 lives so far. Hopefully he doesn’t have 9 like a cat. 5 encounters and can’t get it done. Unreal. Have a great day everyone
deertrackerPosts: 923127eyeguyPosts: 304November 24, 2022 at 10:54 am #2161452Least amount of people out I’ve seen in my neck of the woods. Been hunting this area 30+ yrs, was on handful on the public land opening weekend. Weather was a factor for sure, crazy wind and now it’s foggy, getting hard to see my farthest out tip-up. Wife was able to catch a dandy 10 ptr trying to sneak by this morning. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
deertrackerPosts: 9231Michael BestPosts: 1199November 27, 2022 at 9:54 am #2161835My step son climbed into the stand I shot my buck out of last Sunday and shot this guy this morning a couple minutes after legal shooting light.

Meanwhile this fn buck gonna be the death of me. Everytime out there’s a new rub and about a dozen total in 200 yards. Fresh tracks after the last snow, so pretty sure he’s still alive and nearby. Still never seen him while hunting, just saw him bedded once nearby in the no hunting zone. Running out of time and ideas so I might even break out the climber this afternoon against my better judgment
Michael BestPosts: 1199November 27, 2022 at 11:45 am #2161856Yep muzzleloader buck.
Buck movement has been decent this holiday weekend.
We called coyotes thanksgiving morning and seen 3 good bucks out either looking for a doe or trailing a doe.
November 27, 2022 at 11:49 am #2161857I sat last night with the muzzy, saw 5 but were all on neighbors property. On a side note, when I left my ma’s house about one yesterday afternoon not far from her house a 6 pointer went cruising across the road mid day. Also, a couple nice bucks this past Wednesday by my house were out in shooting hours on the prowl, rut is still happening to some extent
Michael BestPosts: 1199November 27, 2022 at 3:20 pm #2161884Back out this evening, dang nice out. See what happens.
