Awesome deer and awesome story.
Great you and your dad were together.
Holy smokes that old boy has some mass!! Congrats Grouse! We just started hunting 157 by Brook Park and need to touch base with you about some food plot stuff.
Grouse that is a fantastic deer! Congrats. Is that the stand you were in behind you?
Great buck Grouse and you have the patience of a saint. That’s a deer, and a hunt you won’t forget!

Yes. That’s dad’s tower stand in the background.

Congrats Grouse! That’s a very fine trophy. Great story and sharing it with your Dad is fantastic.
Grouse I know you put a ton of work into that property so you deserve it! Well done.
Another little buck, fork horn, tonight. Can’t figure out where the big brothers are hanging out.
Pretty sure I found the rub line of the big brother(s), but haven’t been able to even see or hear him while hunting. I was worried someone else shot him (hunting public), but went out this morning and he came down the trail he is supposed to a couple hours before I got there. I think he’s holed up in a swamp/willow thicket most of the time and coming out at night. The old grunt call hasn’t called him out, so I think it may be a waiting game at this point…
10 pages and we aren’t even to Wisconsin gun opener yet. We average about 10 pages a year so great participation. Thanks everyone.

Way to go Grouse.I congratulate you on a very nice deer.
Take that Mr.Big.
Pretty fun sit tonight in western Mn.
A chilly 21 degrees with west winds of 15 to 25.
Ended up seeing 22 deer, 4 bucks including a couple of big guys that wouldn’t come closer then 350 yards. Ended up with 2 different does at 5 yards and a basket 8 pointer at 5 yards a couple of different times. He was grunting a chasing a doe around and then eventually gave up on her.
Here is a doe at 20 yards.

I’m dealing a with the same thing right now, but tonight he slipped up and I spotted him. 4 minutes left of light and he came out of the thick, but then turned right back around. I was on the ground 200 yards from him and just had 10 doe come by me within 20 yards, I thought he was coming to follow. I’m heading in early to get him before he goes to bed. I hadn’t seen a sign from him since last week, I assumed he was dead.
This mornings set up is a pinch point along a travel corridor. Doe bedding to the north and doe bedding to the south.
This guy popped out 250 yards south of me. A couple of grunts and he came trotting into 15 yards. Waited for him to turn and walk into my shooting window. Shot was 20 yards quartering away.
Deer ran 60 yards spraying blood the whole way.

Between the two Nebraska bucks and now a Minnesota buck, I’d say you did well this season. Your gonna be eating venison twice a week until August lol

Thank you!
Yeah this has been a good year for me.
The last 3 years I have been on the struggle buss. With being crazy busy at work I didn’t get to hunt a whole lot. This year I took a new job and got off the road for work and it shows. Was able to hunt a bunch from Sept 1st till now.
Now it’s time to call coyotes.
Yesterday was a super slow day. Sat most of the day and did some speed scouting mid day. Got on to a decent spot for the evening sit and only had one doe show up at sunset. No shot opportunity sadly. Setup in a swamp tonight that I know the orange army wont go to. Also got some good news that the giant 10 I shot a few weeks back survived and showed back on cam.
Feels good to be back at it after a week in fl! Hoping there’s a couple left after the first gun season.
I wasn’t able to capitalize today. Could have shot 40 some doe, but didn’t see my buck again. I for sure thought he’d pop out tonight from the swamp but he never came to his own party. I guess I’ll get out the muzzle loader
Bigwerm, here he is. These are from before the snow. I’ll load more later.
Bigwerm, couple more for you. Little guy, the bigger one, and one of his ladies and her fawns. These should keep you happy for the work shift.
hese should keep you happy for the work shift.
Haha thanks! For those wondering Jojo lives near my work, so we PM about the City of EP deer herd often. And if the city would allow a city bow hunt, instead of hiring sharp shooters, we would have some $ spots.

Used to rent a house in Chanhassen down the road from target, we had huge bucks in the back yard. I always wanted to stick one. But with 3 neighbors being lawyers I didn’t find it to be a good idea.
