I haven’t been out yet. Snow is easily up to a does belly, and I saw a couple fawns trying to run through it, it was kinda sad. I hate bumping them and making them run in this stuff. So, I’m waiting until the melt. Not to mention I just saw 3 bucks on Friday night all still wearing their crowns.
I’m sure glad we don’t have snow like that down here. I walked corn stubble for a few hours today with nothing to show for it, but what a nice day! Hard to believe there can be so much sign and no antlers. The farmer did say when he flips on his spot light at night there’s still quite a few holding at least one side still.
Nice finds John!
Went down to our farm in northwest Missouri this past weekend. Found 9 sheds. Saw 5 bucks with both sides and one with one side still.

Dang looks like you have some freaks, including a unicorn down there!
Does 1 side usually fall off first since they are all the same side but 1.
Put on about 4 miles today. Still lots of snow in some places but we did pretty good. Wish the picture would show the mass of the one better. Very heavy antler.

Nice work deertracker! I’ve been hitting it hard with decent results. Here’s today’s matched set and a big old one froze into the ground. I can’t wait to see the whole thing once I can get it out.
Here’s the shed that was frozen in the ice. The pics really don’t do the mass on this antler justice, but at 82 4/8″ this is one of the biggest I’ve ever found. On the way home from my walk tues I stopped to glass a couple hundred acres of corn stubble I have permission on, and there was a giant carrying both sides and another nice buck with one side still. Apparently I have some walking to do still!
Still plenty of time! (If you see a guy tracking a whitetail in Apple Valley this week, that’s me! Gotta drop any minute, right?) pic is from this week from the home office. I said, “what the hell” on my zoom call. That interrupted things!
Definitely a few carrying still, but won’t be much longer. Here’s a fresh one from last nights walk. It had to of dropped in the last few days, or I stepped right over it last time.
Finally on the board for this year. Did quite a bit of walking since the middle of last week once the snow melted. This one is extremely similar to one I found last year and within a few hundred yards of each other. As has been the case the last two years I go walking for 2-3 hours and cover several miles, only to find a good shed within a quarter mile of my house on the way back.
Spotted these from a distance and I was pretty sure it was a matched set. After I laid them side by side I realized they were from two different deer. The left side antler scores right at 70″. The following day I picked up another 5 point side in a waterway about 400 yards from where the others were found. Once I got it home I realized it was the match to the right side form the day before. Last picture is the matched set.
Pictures ended up out of order. The table shot is the matched set.
This is pretty cool! waytogo yay
Holy cow! I didn’t realize they can just pop right off like that with a good head shake! 😮

Saw this guy with both sides last thursday as well… Covered a lot of miles and haven’t found one yet. probably walked through 300 beds by now. Did see some other foot tracks one day, however, so there’s competition..
I’ve put on some miles. Today I spent 3 hours out in the woods. Nothing to show for it. But have stumbled on to some cool spots to sit. Good excersize for the dog at least
I went out for a bit today. Found a shed about 200 yards from the house, miles later I still only had 1 shed! 🤣 Lots of snow out there for us yet. I also found 4 predator kills.
Snows pretty much gone for us. Little patches here and there. Spent 4 hours out in the woods today, after not being able to fish the Croix. Was hoping to fish for suckered but went for a long hike instead with the kid and dog. Nothing to show but it sure is enjoyable being in the woods
I’ve been reading this thread and thought I’d finally try myself but I’m a bit too early up here to be able to get around much. If I break through the crust (about every 4th step) snow is over my 18″ boots in a lot of spots. Put up some cameras at least but there are more wolf tracks than deer tracks
Me and the dog walked a ton of miles this weekend and picked up 6 total. All were little, or old and chewed, including the little matched set the dog found while I was talking to the farmer.
What the ?!
I have a food plot I can see from the house.
Last night, snowing lightly and there are 2 decent 8’s still holding on to both sides. I assume that means they are really healthy.
No wonder I haven’t found much this year!
I know most of them have dropped cuz I can see the scabs on their heads but obviously not all of them. Still hope!
Friday on my way home from work by Carver i saw a little basket 6 or 8 pointer still hauling around his head gear. 4-8-2022
Up to 5 for the year, not much for size. Found a couple Friday in a swamp. Kicked up 3 nice bucks still sporting head gear. Somewhat odd to me.
I decided to take a break from fishing today, and get out for a walk. Not bad results for late April!
