when is the myocarditus excuse finally over for Rossi? He’s not the first person to lose a few months of development due to injury. We gotta get over it at some point

Well, it’s a serious heart condition that can kill you if you exert yourself too much while sick, so I wouldn’t put it in the same category as somebody who had ACL/Shoulder surgery…It also happend in what was likely one of the most important development years of his career…I’d say after last season his mind & body were probably back to normal…I just brought it up again because it adds weight to the AHL numbers he put up last year as a 19 year old coming off of it….

It’s brought up all the time as an asterisk or excuse for him. He was diagnosed around Christmas and cleared for training in the summer. That’s 6 months and no lasting effects like knees and shoulders can have.

Stalock’s had it twice, and no one cares. Cost him his career in MN the season after he was a starter for the first time in his career, and no one cares. Then got it again in Edmonton, and no one cared. Super jacked to see him back playing this year.

Stone hands with an almost ridiculous in between the legs goal. Hits the far post.

That was a ridiculous shift by the Rangers. They looked like they were on a power play until they finally scored.

Man, if you dont win faceoffs in OT you dont touch the puck…

Kirill was out twice and never touched it.

Just found out that our new nurse on our unit is Jake Middleton’s wife! I was watching the game in our break room and she started watching it with me and I asked if she watched a lot of hockey…… jester

    Then she clued me in.

Sounds like you now have an excuse to wear assless chaps to work. Ha that’s pretty cool though!

Rossi has been good since being sent down to Iowa, the best sign imo is that he’s scoring goals not just getting PP assists…

There was a clip I beleive from last weekend’s games where he won a clean board battle against a monster 6’4″ defenseman, shoved him off the puck into the boards and then fought his way through a hold to the front of the net to get a deflection goal…

    Since I can’t quote a quote I’ll
Just say this about the Rossi love.
You can say this about x times 1000 about players/prospects.
I could honestly care less what you are doing in juniors or the AHL. It really all means nothing until you can translate it to the NHL. There have been thousands of guys that did this or that in lower levels.
There have been thousand of players like Rosssi or in his position. Hell we have had several in the line up for a month the last several years.
Let’s be honest we have no idea what type of player he is going to be at this point.

Pretty cool that she actually has a job. The majority would opt out of working if their sig fig made a pro anthlete income.

There are quite a few that still work. And ironically many are nurses. Joe Mauer’s wife used to work at my wife’s hospital, and there are other wives of local athletes at many of the hospitals in town.

    From Lebrun on Dumba:

    Interest in Dumba
My colleague from TSN, Darren Dreger, reported during our Insider Trading segment Tuesday evening that the Senators and Oilers have shown some interest in pending unrestricted free agent defenseman Matt Dumba. I think that’s another example of the Oil checking in on what’s out there.

The Athletic’s Michael Russo has noted a few times that while the Wild aren’t shopping Dumba because they’re in a playoff spot, he could see the blueliner dealt as part of a hockey deal that helps the team this season.

This screams I need to fill a couple paragraphs and a TV subject so let’s just start writing words. These guys have the easiest job sometimes.

    Poking around on Boeser
Sticking with the Canucks, word is that teams keep poking around on Brock Boeser and are exploring it in a more realistic manner. I don’t think anything is imminent, but teams are giving it more thought and trying to see how they could make it work.

Boeser still has another two years on his contract after this season at a $6.65 million AAV.

The Wild have talked to Vancouver about it, and Boeser returning to his home state would be a good story, but it doesn’t sound like Minnesota feels it can make it work cap-wise.

I finally had a chance to watch the game highlights (I missed the first 2 periods last night) and good lord those were some brutal turnovers by Boldy and Zuccy…

Flower was unreal and bailed out guys bad mistakes all game…it’s a shame he’s got the loss in his last 2 games…The complete confusion by our supposed shutdown line on the game tieing goal is a little concerning in terms of the teams defensive mindset right now, but you could say that about pretty much everybody last night…

I didn’t hear any criticism by Deano for Freddy’s bonehead too many on the ice penalty, it was at least refreshing to see the TV cameras catch Zuccy chewing him out on the bench…Kaprizov only touching the puck the last 8 seconds of OT isn’t ideal…

geez talk about a depressing post, i’ll give myself a Debbie Downer…

I dont think MN could make it work unless there was a significant portion of that salary retained or we sent multiple players the other way under contract.

Dean might deserve to be fired based solely on all the too-many-men penalties. Honestly they have to lead the league and need to knock it off.

In the Middleton Athletic article it talks about his character and his wifes. He basically couldnt afford to live when he was out in San Jose and he felt bad that his wife had to live in such a small apartment. Its a cool article if you have a subscription and Middleton is a really likable guy.

They were talking about this just the other day in NHL. Some teams are really stretching the rules a bit with their on the fly changes. The refs generally dont call it unless there is a clear advantage with the oncoming player. Generally its 5 feet, but its really up to the discretion of the ref.

regarding the trade speculation, the big industry guys (LeBrun, McKenzie, Dreger, Weeks, Freidman, etc) have a reputation to uphold so they typically aren’t throwing random gossip online, they talk to GM’s/Assistant GM’s/Trainers/Equiptment guys/Hockey Ops employees/Vendor employees that directly work with the team, etc everyday and alot of times they are just fishing for info or connecting dots, so there’s some truth to what they report. Lastly, some of the reporting is just too easy to pass up and these guys typcially have a minimum amount of stories they need to get to press each week per their contract, so saying the Wild has interest in 1C Bo Horvat (of course we have interest, we just can’t afford him) is a no brainer easy article to get out for the weeks tally….

I’d imagine it typically plays out like this – reporter calls a Team’s GM and ask him what he thinks his team is in need of for the playoffs, Team’s GM says due to injuries on the backend they would ideally like another puck moving right shot guy for the post season. Reporter brings up a few names like Dumba and the GM says yeah, a player like that could work… Tweet is then sent out or video segment recorded for TSN or HNIC intermission segments saying that Team X has interest in Matt Dumba…I’m sure alot of GM’s then read the tweet/story and just laugh it off as “you went there huh?”…

Another thing is that alot of these reporters have “unofficial contracts” likely paid with Dinners/Cases of Scotch, ect (not income tax reportable) with GMs/Trainers/PR Guys in terms of any breaking news/leaks are given to them first before official press releases are sent out (Adam Shefter of ESPN’s NFL coverage is a prime example of this) I would assume the reporters I mentioned have similar setups with all NHL teams…

Then of course there’s the tons of “basement podcast guys” who will throw out anything online to get clicks and generate ad revenue for themselves…

Haven’t several of them been in OT and during a delayed penalty? Those are the ones that are just plain stupid lazyiness…
