Florida swapped Huberdeau and Weegar’s caphits for Tkachuk’s, Vegas gave away good players like Pacieretti for nothing to get capspace back and have been doing cap gymnastics ever since and also completely destroyed their management’s reputation in the league…

There can always be exceptions, i’m just saying its less likely to happen with an already established team…

These kids can play great in the WJC and still come up and be a Colton Gillies, Sheppard or Pouliot.

Doesn’t mean anything unless they succeed in the NHL. Hopefully with Judd running the show there is a lot better chance of that, but I’m still not going to put all our stock in our draft picks.

yep, you can say that about every single player… at this point in their development, they’ve (Spacek & Petrovsky) exceeded their draft position as 5th & 6th rounders imo, we’ll see if they continue to make development steps and obviously the final step to the NHL…

This US team is fun to watch. I remember someone bringing up Hutson at the draft and his size but he doesn’t look as small as I thought he was.

he grew 2” since the draft…he was 5’7” when he was drafted…before the draft his agent was telling teams that they did some special bone scan and he was expected to grow another 2-4 inches, turns out they were right. Montreal took him in the 2nd round…

I’ve been a big fan of Judd Bracket and his drafts, it seems he wins draft day every year. But I also think it’s time to take a chill pill on that until one of his draft picks actually scores a goal in the NHL…

The WJC are a blast to watch, but not for Wild prospects. Spacek is the only real bright spot (on a team with mostly undrafted players) since Boldy won gold. Last time the Wild had a big presence at the WJC was when they had Kaprizov, JEEk, Greenway, and Kunin all there. 3 captains, 3 top 10 scorers, and the MVP. I wish we could go back and see what Joe was saying then lol

Pucker up Canada 3-3 less then ten minutes to go.

Love watching Canada sweat it out like this, they’re playing with fire here.

Bedard just choked with an empty net and the GWG on his stick. He finally looked like the junior in high school that he is. I still think he’s the one to end it.

Wow Bedard with a man child move while his teammate is slamming his stick for a pass. What a finish.

    US vs Canada Now.

Bedard was really out there with an NHL defenseman and a center who’s the reigning CHL player of the year and they both just said ok Mr. Junior in High School you go ahead and get your own rebound and go full iso-ball. We’ll just go to the boards and get the F out of your way

Bedard is just stupid good. He is a cheat code in a video game. I watched bits of the game, but I did see 2 of his goals (not sure how many he ended up with) including the game winner in OT. He is not big, but his shot is second to none. I really like Logan Cooley’s game too. That kid can stick handle in a phone booth. USA v CA will be a good game. Hopefully we come out on top its always better to win in Canada in front of their raucous fans.

it’s a little different when 1st & 2nd rounders make their countries WJC team and are impactful (as they are expected to) vs 5th & 6th rounders who are impactful, which is what my WJC posts highlighted…

It wouldn’t surprise me to see both Spacek and Petrovsky signed to their ELC’s this calendar year and sent to Iowa (if they are old enough? i’m not sure)

ELCs can be signed the day after the draft regardless of age.

Just giving you crap Joe. Excitement and positive energy about prospects is really the right way to do it. They are kids and they’re already over-scrutinized enough. Just need to remember the vast majority of these kids are never going to sniff the NHL. Prospects are volatile and the rankings are really nothing more than a best guess by some writers turned scouts who aren’t good enough to work for NHL teams.

Yes, ELC’s can be signed whenever, but the organization is limited to 50 active contracts, so they need to be smart about who & when they sign (Wild is currently 46/50)…I totally agree about a vast majority of prospects will never step a skate on an NHL rink, I just like pointing out the players who are drafted late and exceed initial expectations and continue to develop, those are the diamonds in the rough the good teams seem to always find…

indeed, just sucks it took 6 years to get him here…but it’s nice to get a polished player vs putting up with the needed growing pains of young players (like Rossi)

That Canada Slovak game was very fast paced compared to the US Germany game. The Slovaks are a much better team than the Germans are currently. This game against Canada will be a good test for the US. That Augustine in net played pretty well but he wasnt tested much.

Petrovsky could be signed now and not count toward the 50 contracts until 24-25 season since he’s so young and in the CHL. Spacek would count starting next year since he’s an overager.

USA v. Canada is always a blast. Shut down Bedard and you win, if only it were that easy.

Bedard is from another planet. 90% chance he winds up in the Western Conference and 100% chance it’s not with the Wild. Not to mention a good chance he winds up in our division wearing a Blackhawk sweater. Another block the Wild (and everyone else of course) will have to climb over if they are ever to sniff the Cup.

Because the lottery is rigged or what? Really looking like the Blackhawks win the tankfest for best odds though.

There’s also been some rumors that Bedard will pull a “Lindros” and dictate where he goes, so even if the Blackhawks lose the lottery, that doesnt shut the door on him still ending up there…

and to put on my conspiracy hat, wouldn’t the NHL love to replace Kane & Toews faces with Bedard’s in that major US market….

Couldn’t that theory also shut the door if they win the lottery? And Lindros didn’t pick his spot, he just picked where he wouldn’t go [uh oh Coyotes whistling ] Regardless that’s just Canada media looking for something to talk about.

The NHL should rig this draft away from Chicago just for the extremely obvious tank job they are pulling.
Tanks like that give the league a black eye.
