Winger Servac Petrovsky (Slovakia) is having another really good WJC, yet another good forward find by Judd and the boys…

Nice shot by dumba. He’s got the ability hopefully this sparks something he’s been playing better lately.

Only thing better would be on the ice fishing but it’s pretty quiet. Too many kids.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22284December 31, 2022 at 6:42 pm #2170546My favorite line from one of my favorite movies it’s a wonderful life. Why do we have to have so many kids! LOL enjoy them yes it’s a challenge but I just spent a couple days on LOW with my middle son who never fished there ice fishing and he loved it. He wanted to catch an eelpout which he did. Smallest eelpout I’ve ever seen lol
RipjiggenPosts: 11447December 31, 2022 at 7:11 pm #2170549Ha I can handle my own it’s the neighbors kids that make it extra tonight. 7 or 8 lost count out their hopped up on whatever they got into.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22284December 31, 2022 at 7:43 pm #2170555Well that’s still cool. Keeping them out of trouble for sure nice job!
December 31, 2022 at 10:46 pm #2170574Tonight we saw the Ryan Hartman from last year (not because of the 2 goals) he was in the pace of play, he was great along the boards, he was anticipating the puck, etc etc…
lets hope thats the guy who shows up the rest of the season.

Agreed. Good to see him playing with that battle level again. Got rewarded for it too. If he gets back to that level this team could get close to last years results if not farther. The D is playing so well right now. The blues couldn’t get passes to the middle to save their lives last night. Such good sticks by our D. Would be nice to see the PP start clicking again though.
RipjiggenPosts: 11447January 1, 2023 at 9:25 pm #2170674How about Spurg this year. Been an absolute stud. Didn’t realized he played with a sports hernia last year.

I’ve always appreciated small guys overachieving. My previous hero was Curt Giles, although his game was totally different than Spurgeon’s.
January 2, 2023 at 10:44 am #2170708Masterful examples of getting the D up in the play. When you’ve got guys like Spurg and Dumba, Eveson is 100% right, you have to take advantage of every chance you can to let them make plays in the O zone. Get even 1 goal from a D man and chances are very good it’s going to be a good night. Get 2…
Totally agree re Hartman. Hopefully he’s back on the horse for the rest of the season.
I was at the Dallas game last week and WTF? Can somebody please tell me how the Stars can rip the helmets of 2 Wild players but there’s no holding call? Like how do you hold a player long enough to rip his helmet off and yet NOT actually hold him?
The officiating this year is just a cluster ####. No instigator calls, holding is once again NOT a penalty just like the bad old days. Next week are we going back to hand slashing being totally legal again? It’s hard to keep up with Bettman’s “no rulebook” NHL these days.
January 2, 2023 at 10:59 am #2170711BOTH O’Reilly and Terasenko got hurt during the Wild game and were placed on IR, O’Reilly is expected to be out 6+ weeks, Terasenko 4+ weeks which puts them in jeopardy of being traded by the deadline.
January 2, 2023 at 12:38 pm #2170722Really admire O’Reilly as a player. I doubt the Wind are in contention for the most talked about names like O’Reilly or Bo Horvat.
It’s a little depressing to look at just hom much longer we’re going to be in buyout jail.
January 2, 2023 at 12:49 pm #2170724So glad TNT is doing the Winter Classic game, Biz just asked Brad Marchant why he didnt cover his nose with black out to block out the sun on the entire rink! Lol
He also said thank god they are playing outside so Marchand and Bergeron wouldnt sniff all the oxygen out of the arena…
Lol

Yeah and I am not sure that is the right approach either. By that time KK could be wanting out and you are starting over anyway. You may as well take a shot…(not saying every year) but it is obvious what a big center would do to this team right now. The west is pretty wide open imo.
From joes takes of the WJC sounds like the wild are loaded with prospects that nobody else saw coming except Judd.
If Edmonton can make a run to WCF not sure why the Wild can’t.CaptainMuskyPosts: 22284January 2, 2023 at 1:01 pm #2170726Joe you missed the part where said it was too cold for him to lick someone because he’d freeze to them.

lol, I did see that… too funny!
? I merely pointed out two late round picks (5th&6th) were having great tournaments and have been developing well?CaptainMuskyPosts: 22284January 2, 2023 at 1:25 pm #2170733The winter classic looks like it’s being played in hawaii instead of how it looked last year.

After getting to the field early to experience as much as we could, I was so frozen by the opening puck drop the rest of the game my body was in survival mode…

It wasn’t a knock Joe. Just saying they can keep talking about the plan for when the buy out ends. Well that plan is pretty much FUBAR if they can’t resign KK.

I have to wonder if this wasn’t the season that the Wild should have pulled a Chicago Suckhawks-style “tank it” move?
It has to be admitted even coming off of last year that despite the relative weakness of the west, we likely cannot compete with the talent-loaded east and basically making any kind of run is simply not in the cards. We’re in a cap crunch and will be for about 80 more years. As an added bonus, it would have totally driven the Blackhawks and their DB ownership crazy to have competition in this little race to the bottom.
Can you really build a team in Bettman’s NHL without the suck your way to success formula of tanking to get get the #1?
agreed… but if Kirill’s decision on his next contract is solely based on wanting to play for a top team, how could a top team fit his likely $14+ million aav under their already established roster that’s likely already at the cap ceiling? It’s likely impossible…
The Wild can offer him a blank check for the max 8 years and will likely have the most capspace available of any established team in the league…
The prospects we’ve added recently (Faber, Yurov, Ohgren, Khusnidhinov, Wallstedt) should be hopefully replacing older/expensive players by then as well freeing more cap to use for specific roster needs vs trying to fill them with AHLers….
BUT if Kirill wants out, he’ll be gone no matter what we do…
RipjiggenPosts: 11447January 2, 2023 at 2:42 pm #2170746Grouse…Yes the wild can now as they have there top #1 guy. Let’s not waste his prime years. They only have to make a run in the west. Not worried about anybody in the east at this point.
RipjiggenPosts: 11447January 2, 2023 at 3:02 pm #2170749Joe how did Florida sign Tkachuck as a FA. How was Vegas able to afford a trade for Eichel. You make it sound like no team will be able to afford him which I think is silly.
You can always move money around.
We don’t even know who the top teams will be 3 years from now.
Why waste 4-5 years of his prime years? The prospects we’ve added recently (Faber, Yurov, Ohgren, Khusnidhinov, Wallstedt) should be hopefully replacing older/expensive players by then as well freeing more cap to use for specific roster needs vs trying to fill them with AHLers….
We don’t have any older expensive contracts. Maybe Zucc when he resigns, but that is about it.
That’s all speculation just like when Grandlund, Coyle and Nino were going to do the same.
The quote function is annoying today.
January 2, 2023 at 3:34 pm #2170752These kids can play great in the WJC and still come up and be a Colton Gillies, Sheppard or Pouliot.
Doesn’t mean anything unless they succeed in the NHL. Hopefully with Judd running the show there is a lot better chance of that, but I’m still not going to put all our stock in our draft picks.
