The last 3 minutes of that game is a good example of how someone like Reaves can mitigate the cheap stuff taken out on Wild players…he probably played at least 2 of those minutes…

you just know the Jets would be taking liberties on anybody they could, especially after we got away with a 4 minute high sticking penalty towards the end of the 3rd… they were pissed off and frustrated and did nothing…

But did they get away with a penalty? The ref clearly saw it and looked pretty confident in his non-call. Gray area play and every fan is going to think they’re an expert and their opinion is the right one based on a quote of the rule they saw on the internet. I’m super excited to read “a player is responsible for their stick at all times” 1000x in the next 24 hours.

I wish the NHL Officials Association would put out a statement on highly scrutinized calls like these.

I really expected a better showing from Winnipeg especially at home. The Wild looked good and certainly played well enough to win. Gustavson really seems to be taking advantage of his opportunity. As mentioned he may price himself right out of a Wild jersey. The Jets are beat up right now but still had a good amount of the core on the ice. They sure looked ragged last night. Some terrible passing really negated some scoring chances for them and when they did get it to click Gustavson was up for the save. Dallas and that Robertson kid up next.

I can see both sides on this particular play, to me it looks like Steel went for the stick lift and missed, Poink also was in the process of lifting Steel’s stick, I think Steel’s stick was already going to hit Connor up in the face, Poink just added alot more power to it… you can see Steel let go of his bottom hand as soon as he clips Conner’s face so he was aware of where it was…

Listening to the game they were saying the Refs were watching Reaves and a Jet player tussle behind the net and that’s why they likely didnt see/call it? After a whistle the Refs can ask the Linesman if they saw it too…

It’s a quick bing-bang play that will get called 99% of the time…Wild got away with it imo…We’ve seen plays like this ultimately get reviewed and reversed when they find out its an own team stick that caused it, but I’ve never seen it reversed when its the opposing teams stick…. The fact it wasnt at least reviewed tells me NONE of the Officials even saw it…

The ref saw it plain as day, it was 5′ from him and right in front of his face. The whole building saw it, the broadcasters called the penalty on TV, the players literally quit playing. That was the most obvious stick to the face this season, there’s no way both referees just happened to miss it. The ref was pointing and yelling why he didn’t make the call. The idea that he was distracted by Reaves is just some common Lapanta and Wes Walz mumbo jumbo. Gotta give Reavo credit for getting after PLD right after I posted about him though!

That was a very depleted Jets team with all their injuries. I watch a fair amount of hockey, especially the Western Conference, and last night The Jets had like 6 names in the lineup I’ve never heard in my life.

The Canadian color analyst talking about this check to the head against Canada after the way he talked about the check to the head by Canada is full on belligerent. Honestly comical.

7 for 10 on the PP. Is that good?

4 on that major penalty alone! So that must be considered 4-4 on the one penalty to make them 7-10 in the game, since I’m pretty sure Germany didn’t take 9 minor penalties.

Freaking Middleton. Just read the great story on him Russo did the other day and how hilarious he is, all the teammates talking about how he’s always naked, and sure enough, he does the intermission interview with no clothes on. Was hoping he was gonna give Gorgy a big sweaty hug. jester

I swear our D are the worst in the league in terms of getting shots to the net… both of Dallas’s goal are because their D got simple shots on net for deflections… ours just dump it in the corners… its unreal

Addison is the only one who tries…

Their faceoff guys are alot better than our faceoff guys… although that last goal’s faceoff loss was on Ek losing a 1-1 battle after Gaudreau got a faceoff draw…

Those were 3 unreal deflection goals, nothing Flower could do…

Haha. Suter’s wrister from the point doesn’t seem like such a bad idea right now does it.

    When he gets it through…no

The vast majority of the time it was drilled into the defenders shinpads and deflected out of the zone…but at least he tries to get shots on net, can’t say that for our Defense besides Addison…

I still am perfectly happy Suter is not here anymore. Walz’s one good point of the evening was that all defensive players need to do is step in front of hit shot and block it. We just weren’t doing it. That’s what other teams did to us when he was here and why he was so awful manning the point on the PP for us. Well, and all the pucks he coughed up at the blue line.

I year ya on that one. His best attribute was never his shooting prowess or his offensive contributions. It was his ability to move the puck and the minutes he chewed up back there. I don’t know how many minutes he’s still playing, but in his prime he often played almost half the game.

Dallas is pretty solid. That’s the first time I’ve seen them play this season.

Dallas has also been remarkably healthy sofar this season (something like only Rupe Hitnz has missed a few games, nobody else)

Will that last? Unlikely…but the Wild was pretty healthy last year and had a breakout season, seems like the same could happen for Dallas this year..

34 saves for Wallstedt in a 2-1 win tonight in Iowa, the kid is really adapting well to North American hockey…

That’s good to hear. Haven’t heard much about him over the last few weeks. Heard he was starting to get comfortable but the team doesn’t score goals so the wins might be hard to come by for him. Probably tough when most of your top 6 is playing with the big club.

vast majority of the goals he’s been giving ip have been powerplay goals and yes, the team has been void of any offensive talent most of the year due to all of the Wild injury callups. They’ve been very patient with Wallstedt typically starting him only once a weekend series, they’ll likely play him more frequently the 2nd half of the season…
