Faber could swap out for Addison or Merrill on the bottom pair if he looks shaky…like I said, the Dumba trade return would need to be worth that risk, if all that’s offered for him is a late round value draft picks, you keep him…

You would be alright with Merril or Addy playing top 4 hard minutes in the playoffs. Ooof not so sure about that.

I honestly don’t see much return and he plays out the season but we have a long ways before that decision is made.

Craig Smith on waivers. I think that’s the closest the Wild could get to a free top 6 scorer guy who can score goals for cheap AAV. That’s also assuming he’s 2018 Craig Smith and not washed up Craig Smith, he’s not young and I have no idea if he’s fallen off a cliff. He’s scored around 20 goals a year on 15 minutes a night for pretty much his entire career until this year.

Is he better than Hartman or Boldy? That’s the argument for getting another top6 guy from now on (if everyone stays healthy)

Wild are stuck with the lineup they have now…

Addison looked his best during the few game stretch he played with Brodin earlier this season…and again it’s an option IF Dumba is traded and Faber is signed and can’t plug right in…

what exactly would we be losing with Dumba being gone? Brodin bails him out constantly every game…no argument he gets icetime, he’s also an experianced Vet so that counts for something on Deano’s decision making and like Freddy, Deano likes his comfort guys no matter how flawed they are…

Say what you want about Dumba’s game but there’s a big gap in time on ice between Spurgeon/Brodin/Dumba and the other guys. Yeah not many playoff teams are trading their 3rd defenseman, at least not if they’re taking playoffs seriously.

I think Dumba’s value will be decent, there’s a HUGE need for right-shot defenseman at the deadline and perhaps another playoff team would think he’d be motivated to shine for his next payday in the offseason…If a contender misses out on their deadline targets, perhaps they could get desparate and overpay for Dumba (maybe a 2nd round pick)

We’ve seen head scratching trade deadline returns every year…

There’s been rumblings Vancouver’s Luke Schenn’s asking price will be a 1st rounder…will they get that, who knows?

NHL teams are not dumping their top 3-4 D man that is a captain for a guy that is going to have 2 NHL games under his belt come playoffs.

Dumping their #3 D before playoffs for the ~55th overall pick would be dumb.

we’ll see…Faber’s game should translate well to the NHL as he’s an elite skater and defender, he’s already played against men and ex-NHLers in the Olympics…if GMBG gets the right return and think’s Faber is ready, he’ll pull the trigger, it’s a business and the Wild has numerous players ready to take that A (Ek or Brodin)

    all my opinion

You don’t have to trade Dumba to make a spot for Faber. News flash… players get hurt in the playoffs.

I feel like I’m the only one who thinks it’s glaringly obvious that Kaprizov gets the A next year. He is the team, he is the marketing department, teammates love him, GM and coaches rave about what a great leader he is, do I really need to keep going.

With extended playoff rosters yes, you don’t have to do anything…I’ll put my money on Ek getting the A next year (that guys sacrifices himself for the team EVERY SINGLE GAME) and he’s locked up for 7 more years…I think Kirill could take Foligno’s A if he’s not resigned in 2 years though, then Spurgeon passes him the C hopefully after he signs a max extension…

Putting an A on his chest isn’t going to do anything from a Marketing perspective, he’s already the face of the franchise and the sole reason the Wild have been on National TV as many times as they have been the past few years, if he eventually gets the C then yes…His work ethic warrants a leadership role for sure, but we have no idea how he is in the locker room (he’s absolutely not a problem and beloved by all, but does he ever speak up or hold players accountable? no idea?) or does he seclude himself at his home and doesn’t hang out with other teammates besides Zuccy outside the rink?

I’ve been a big Dumba basher over the years but here’s the big reason why. When he was scoring I could stomach his awful turnovers. But he went in a HUGE drought the last few years. That’s why his value tanked. Over the last couple weeks he has started to pick that up again. I hope it lasts because we could use that a lot from him or it would increase his trade value a bit.

Don’t disagree about Farber’s game, but also a pretty tough spot to put someone in your top 3-4 for two games and then playoff hockey that is on a whole different level. It’s an interesting scenario for sure. Might be a tough sell to the locker room at the deadline however.

Jack Peart looks to be on the 1st D paring with Luke Hughes in Team USA’s WJC warmup game with Finland today, this is likely the opening game lineup…

What a hilarious left turn in the middle there hahahaha.

How many players still wear jocks like that? I thought 99% wear the ones built into compression shorts or pants. If it wasn’t for the jock/shorts combo, I was that guy… including socks, but that’s a whole nother can of worms.

That is absolutely hilarious! The strangest (not that strange) thing that one of my teammates did was not wear any socks. Man when he brought his skates over to have my dad sharpen them we had to put them in the garage. They were worse then my brother’s goalie equipment.

Might be different for hockey but I played baseball through college and we had the compression shorts style but I went back to the regular jock because the compression shorts don’t hold the cup tight enough to your body so the goods sometimes would not stay in the cup. So if you dove or got hit the seeds may or may not be in the cup and would get pinched. Not fun.

Anybody listen to the Reaves interview on Russo’s podcast? Pretty darn good. Definitely seems like a guy that a locker room would like to have and the other’s absolutely hate. Makes sense.

He had a hilarious Ken Hitchcock impression too. Good stuff.

Looked straight out of a video game. I watched that 50x last night and still have no idea how that happened.

How about Makar declining the penalty on Barzal? Impossible to not like that guy.

Yeah it sort of defies physics.

Let’s hope Makar was not one of the guys on the world junior team. shock

Man that’s some gross stuff that came out yesterday. I’m assuming the guy from Ottawa who didn’t get a contract is “player 1”. Why else would they just let him rot?? Most of them, including Makar, have come out and said they’re innocent. So it shouldn’t be tough to nail down a short list of who the other players could be. Steel was on that team so I was thinking that was why he got signed late but I guess his agent did make a statement that he wasn’t there.

If you have Athletic check out the article about Dean and his Junior days in Kamploos. Tells a lot about his style of play.

Fiala with a filthy back hander last night. He’s sitting at a point per game at 35 right now with ten goals. If history holds he should be heating up with more goals coming. Kings got some serious defensive and goal tending issues but they should still show up in the playoffs I believe.
