Wayne retired at 38. Ovi will have to play till he’s 40 to pass him.
He is showing no real sign of slowing down either so he will likely be able to play into his 40’s.

Add 20% to Ovechkin to adjust for Era and he woulda passed Wayne-o last year.

Wayne debuted when he was 18, Ovechkin at 20. Pretty sure Ovi would have score a lot more goals at 18 and 19 than Wayne would have at 39 and 40. He had like 10 in his final season.
3.5 goals per game per team during Gretzky’s career and closer to 4 during his prime. 2.9 during Ovi’s career, that’s more than 20% difference. The silly thing would be acting like the era they played in didn’t affect goal and point totals.
Addison health bomb tonight. Bold move for a team that’s been winning games because of the powerplay. But I will say his 5v5 play has been underwhelming, and that’s coming from the creator, president, and CEO of his fan club. Just a tough move to take him off the PP
Yeah but nobody before or since has celebrated winning the Cup like Ovi. He had a pretty good shine on every time he was on tv for the next two weeks after the Cup win! Pretty impressive!
I will always have the Great One as #1 overall, BUT there’s ZERO chance the Oilers could keep half of their stars under a salary cap if they had one at the time… I mean their top 6, 2 defenseman and goalie are all in the HOF….
Its a fun argument/discussion to have…

That was so funny to watch! He really got into it.
When Ovi touched the cup for the first time was the only time i’ve ever shed a tear from a hockey game, I was so happy for him and he looked like a 5 year old on Christmas morning! The pure joy and relief on his face as he knew his career would no longer be defined by not winning a title…
The dancing in the fountains and everything was just absolutely glorious.
That Caps never ending team party was epic and for me the player to remember Oshie. Adopted MN boy from my era and he got to share the cup with his dad during his Alzhemier’s battle. And Osh can out-party just about anyone which was documented many times like in the fountain.
How could I have I forgotten about Oshie!? That was unreal moment for sure!
Speaking of the great one – today I learned he rattled off a 51 game point streak while averaging THREE POINTS PER GAME!!! What a mutant.
I got to see Gretzky play the North Stars when he was still in Edmonton right in the middle of their Cup runs. He could skate and stick handle the puck by himself for a solid minute. Of course the unwritten but well understood rule of the day was nobody runs Gretzky. He was basically the one and only super star of the time and he was good for every team in the league by selling tickets that otherwise would have been empty seats. The NHL did not want him out with injury.

Oh I don’t think it didn’t play a factor. I meant more silly trying equate quantify what have you between different eras. So many different factors.

That’s pretty crazy. He also had 73 short handed goals and 149 short handed points. Some of his numbers are just crazy.
Sami Walker called up, its about time he at least got a look, hopefully Petan is on the return flight to Iowa…
Joe smith reporting Duhaime and Hartman expected to practice when they return home. Could be a huge boost.

Cramarosa went back to Iowa so your boy is still around. I’m sure he’s in the lineup tonight. Walker likely later on the trip

practicing but from what I’ve read they really don’t expect Hartman back anytime soon.
It has to be sooner than later if he is going to practice with the team and not just skating like he has been.

I hope so but it could just be a conditioning thing. Guys skate with a red jersey for a long time before coming back.
