Because when Ek Zucc KK and Boldy in on the first PP it doesn’t leave you with a lot of options after that.

It leaves you Dewar, Shaw even Reeves or even one of the other defenseman.

Ovi with 2 empty netters in the last minute of their game tonight, he now has 795 career goals, 99 behind the great one….just unreal and to think he lost a full season’s worth of games due to a lock out and covid shortened seasons..

Petan’s guy scores 20 seconds later…how the F do you let a defenseman skate past you down to the net from the blueline??

Was his wing but plenty of break downs there starting with Freddy not moving the puck. Ending with Merril just basically getting in the way.

Just watched it again. My God that was a lazy shift from all 5 guys. Freddy had multiple break out spots and he just skates into the corner and loses the puck. Then literally the other 4 watched.

Have always been a Ovi fan but he’s no Gretzky no matter how many goals he put’s up.

Gretsky was great and its really tough to compare, but what Ovi is doing in today’s game is more impressive IMO.

Ovi is still over 1400 points behind Wayne. Which is pretty crazy.

It is. I think they said if you took all his goals away Ovi would still be a ways back.

There’s not really a comparison, is there? Ovechkin will be the best goal scorer of all time but Gretzky will always be The Great One. There’s no discussion there.

Oh and Ovi missed his rookie season due to lockout so it’s 2 full season’s he’s missed due to lockouts and covid.

But Gordie missed like 10 seasons by trying to earn a real salary in the WHA. And how many did Jagr miss playing overseas plus 2 lockouts?

Wayne retired at 38. Ovi will have to play till he’s 40 to pass him.
