if Ryan Reaves gets put on waivers (likely) do the Wild put in a bid for him? He’s the toughest guy the league and can obviously increase our physicality, but he can also be a jacka$$…It stops Foligno from having to fight and surely beats spending a 3rd round pick on Deslauriers last year…

Hey guys I’m baaaack! The artist formerly known as icecap! Man you guys need some help turning some pages! 17 games into the season and just barely turned 52 pages! So here are my observations to this point. We miss Kevin Fiala more than BG or DE wanted us to believe “no big deal other guys will step up”. So far not so much. Fiala sitting at 18 points in 19 games and a -1. KK with 19 points in 17 games and a -6. If we want to say Fiala is off to a slow start we’d have to say the same thing about our favorite Russian. Speaking of which I wondered how he liked being called out by DE about playing east to west and not the right way after a brilliant pass going to east to west that even Freddy Hockey couldn’t help but put in the net?

After a injury free season last season the karma gods are looking the other way this season. While the injuries don’t help, did anyone really expect all these guys to top the career years they had last year? I know I didn’t so I’m not surprised that they are where they are so far this season. Regression was predictable if not unavoidable.

Rossi, oh boy what’s going on with Marco? I think DE and maybe BG has a hand in it too but they are terribly mismanaging this kid. Get him in that 1c spot for at least ten games and see what he can do. They’ve sheltered this kid way too long, time to see what we got and maybe he’s not what many thought but it’s time to find out. Maybe he’s a AHL beast and that’s his ceiling but I think they are ruining his confidence by not showing any in him.

Fluery is finding out that doing the crappie flop in front of the net all night actually hurts at 37 years of age. Father time may not have completely caught up to the Flower but he’s about ready to put a horse collar tackle on him.

Where did BG bury the body known as Gologoski? We signed him just to put him in the press box? So this is money well spent?
Seems like yesterday many were over the Greenway experiment and it was time to move him on. I was one of those. Now it seems we are hanging on his return to save the day. I’m skeptical at best he can make that big of a difference. He’s been out long enough his first ten games are going to be basically his training camp.

All’s not lost plenty time to turn this around as other teams in the division are experiencing a similar start. I still see the Wild making the playoffs but not making much noise after that. Carry on…

Jost on waivers… for sure getting claimed. What a disappointing year he’s had.

Welcome back T! We’ve missed you! Jost will get claimed for sure, but yeah, I am disappointed he hasnt done much. Steel and Shaw have been pretty good moreso Shaw than Steel. I feel they bring more than Jost can.

if Jost gets claimed they’ll have the capspace to add a significant offensive piece if desired…I think GMBG will wait to see how the rest of this home stand plays out before making any major decisions..

Where did BG bury the body known as Gologoski? We signed him just to put him in the press box?

I’m convinced he and GMBG had a handshake agreement to sign the 2 year extension after last years 1 year $5 deal with the full intent of getting him to 1,000 games played and then spot start when needed and then finally buying out the final year of the deal and he retires next year, there’s ZERO caphit penalty if they buy him out (due to his age and the contract structure)

all the talk of being competitive these 3 years the cap penalities are maxed was just that…all talk…GMBG isn’t stupid, he knows its impossible to fully compete when you only have 70% of the money everyone else has to spend…We had journeyman Goudreau on the 1st PP last night, Shaw on the PP2 unit…these guys are journeyman AHL’ers and we have them on our powerplay because we can’t afford better players…

I’m sure GMBG HOPED he could get guys to duplicate last years career years this season, but we all know how that’s going…We take our medicine these next 3 years, accumulate draft capital, get the young guys growing pains out of the way and then start the cuprun when the caphits are gone and we can afford to overpay for UFA’s to plug the roster holes that still exist…

Who would they even be interested in I wonder. I agree they will need to see how this homestand goes to determine what should be done, but they need to right this ship soon before some other teams get hot and they will be fighting the uphill battle.
I still cant believe people on Twitter all up in arms about trading Sturm for Jost. I mean, he turned down a contract so he wasnt going to sign here.

i’m thinking a pending UFA some other struggling/rebuilding team is looking to dump, just a early season stopgap if GMBG still thinks this team has a chance…I think once all off the injury callups are sent back to the AHL we’ll end up having close to $6 million in real capspace..

Mason Shaw just took his job, just like Dewar took Rask’s last year. I love Shaw and think it’s a great story but it says a lot for the team that he’s been the best story so far this year. They just have no oomph and no one who wants to score a goal aside from the PP1 guys.

Hope this move can give them a much needed spark and breathe a little life into the locker room.

I just worry about Shaw’s longevity due to having 3 ACL replacements in 4 years…He’s the perfect 4th line guy though!

A lot of those in the lineup right now coffee

Which makes it even more perplexing Jost couldn’t find a role

No…the last thing they need is an untalented 4th liner healthy scratch guy. They have plenty of those.
Well 4th line at least. Not sure they are tough.

Not sure how they have coddled Rossi Icecap but rarely do guys get drafted at center and start 1st line day one.

Definitely don’t think Greenway is the savior but when you have zero forward depth or prospects not having him and Hartman who are actually NHL caliber hurts what you can throw out there for a line up.

Jost will probably get claimed but will most likely continue what he has been his whole MHL career. Being a role player that shows a flash every blue moon.

    Welcome back TSW.

IDK, just seems the Wild are one of those perpetual “just wait until our prospects develop” kind of teams. I don’t think Rossi is going to live up to the hype. At least not on this team and that’s the problem with “hype” it’s usually overdone and it just makes it easy to fail. BG appears to be one of those either I like you or I don’t GM’s. If he likes you you will get paid to do nothing. (See Gologoski) If he don’t he will publicly bad mouth you before he trades you (See Fiala). He picks strange bed fellows. He will cling to Dumba like grim death.

Handshake agreements with aging ineffective players do not win you Stanley Cups. We get the Canes tonight. At least Nino can’t score on us…again… What is it with these ex players? First Fiala hangs three points on us in his first return, then Sturm lays a goal on us then Nino comes to town and opens the scoring. I get these players are motivated against their old team but damn…
I expect the Wild will beat the Canes tonight. 4-2. toast

Rossi getting the press box tonight. Sounds like Greenway still out and Petan rolls in.

Will Sammy Walker get a shot this year? I know it’s been a hot topic about not pumping up ex-gophers but could be cool to see if we’re just gonna keep picking through 20 year olds all season.

what did they say they’d be able to afford for salary at the trade deadline? Wasn’t it like 8M player?

If the Wild put Dumba and Goligoski on waivers, that would be another $8 million in cap space between the two of them.

They were one of those teams. That group didn’t materialize. When BG took over he had 0 prospects.
Still has some work to do in that department especially up front. I don’t think people realize how KK finally coming over changed the landscape of this team. If he didn’t I am almost 100 percent confident the team gets blown up and they are in full Coyotes/blackhawks previously AVs’ lightning style rebuild. Probably finishing bottom five for several years in a row.

Nino wasn’t a BG move. Sturm turned down a 5 year for more money by the Wild. Goose is Jamie Benn replacement that I will take all day.

They also tried to trade Dumba this off season. Nobody wants him for that money that BG didn’t sign him to.

Nobody is making 8 mill at the deadline. So yes they could add more than one piece.

IMO BG has these next couple of years to mold a team he wants during the cap strapped years. If in two years after the buyout years they are not contending for a cup he will be out.

They can afford anybody at the deadline without needing another team to take on capspace, BUT its all about what draft picks/prospects they would be willing to give up… if the Wild are out of the playoffs by the deadline they will sell off Dumba and anybody else not part of the youth core they’ve established.

Before Jost and all of the injury call ups, we were projected to have like $12 million to spend at the deadline…

It’s probably closer to $15+ million now… but will we be in a position to need to now? Lots of games left to figure that out…

After beating Chicago at home 6-1 tonight, the Bruins are now an impressive 11-0 at home this season (they are 16-2 overall through 18 games).

That’s 25% of their home games already, and they haven’t lost. What are the chances they go undefeated at home this season?
