F’ing Gaudreau is worthless out there… he’s just lazy… not sure what Deano continues to see to keep playing him 1C?

Flower power! This game will put a dent into those stats… this is a game he needed to steal and he did, Seattle is no slouch anymore, they play hard!

Maybe we should bring Rask back…

lets not go that far
I focused on watching Gaudreau when he was on the ice last night and I just dont get it… he’s actually a very lazy player and very soft defensively, yes he’s in proper position but he’s basically just a body getting in the way…. Rossi needs to be given a multiple game shot at 1C, what have Kirill and Zuccy done 5-5 since playing with Gaudreau? Nothing… their points have been primarily on the PP…

November 12, 2022 at 9:47 pm #2158886Jesper Wallstedt just friggin scored for Iowa!!! Oh and he also stopped 37/39 shots for his first AHL win!
Not a bad night huh?!? The future looks bright in goal!

November 12, 2022 at 10:56 pm #2158891I saw that too. Get him up here we could use some depth scoring.
RipjiggenPosts: 11623brandmoneyPosts: 282November 14, 2022 at 4:33 pm #2159301I am still really shocked at the lack of puck possession Rossi has shown. We heard how good he was and how great of a stick he had and he almost never has the puck. I get that the NHL is a different monster, and he’s playing low minutes, but I expected a little more.
RipjiggenPosts: 11623November 14, 2022 at 5:37 pm #2159321Patience grasshopper…he could probably use some time in Iowa to get that confidence back unfortunately to many injuries to do that…
What is perplexing to me is all the centers that didn’t want to sign here for lack of opportunity. Pretty sure Myers McBain and Sturm would all be playing right now.
November 14, 2022 at 5:41 pm #2159322Patience grasshopper…
I get that, and I wasn’t expecting him to look like KK or that level, but we really haven’t seen anything from him. You aren’t surprised at how little he’s shown?
RipjiggenPosts: 11623November 14, 2022 at 5:43 pm #2159323A little but not really…tough position to play as young as he is. I think he is trying to play a responsible D game and isn’t thinking offense yet.
November 14, 2022 at 6:10 pm #2159325I’m really surprised he hasn’t been given an extended (more than 1 game) tryout at 1C. Yes he scored yesterday (it was all because of Kaprizov) but Goudreau hasnt done jack crap as the 1C (Kirill and Zuccy have been scoring mostly on the PP) give Rossi a shot to play with like minded offensive players and at least see if he can find some chemistry…
I agree his confidence is waning and injuries are keeping him in the NHL, a stretch of 10-15 games in the AHL would do him wonders right now but there’s no better options for the Wild…
But this team is poised to start making a cup run in a couple of years, so getting the growing pains out of the way now is ideal even though we want them winning…
His inexperience was almost disastrous in OT last night when he gave up playing D and his man cut towards the net and got a good deflection off in the last seconds… i’m sure that didnt sit well with Deano and its plays like that likely stick in his head with Marco and sways his decisions…
November 15, 2022 at 12:18 pm #2159471Mason Shaw given the “You can find a permanant place to live” talk by GMBG and given a real jersey number #15
The dude is a work his butt off/prototypical 4th liner with upside to spot start on the 2nd or 3rd line IF needed…This likely spells the end for Jost in MN, will be interesting to see if GMBG can get anything for him…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22882November 15, 2022 at 12:36 pm #2159474Yeah, I was really hoping Jost would do something, anything, but he has done nothing. Shaw works his butt of and considering the multiple ACL injuries he’s had its easy to root for the kid.
November 15, 2022 at 1:16 pm #2159480I give Deano credit for changing up the lines tonight, but he still refuses to try Rossi at 1C…This is Rossi’s best chance at some offense though…we’ll see how he does…
Zuccy – Goudreau – Kaprizov
Boldy – Rossi – Foligno
Shaw – Ek – Dewar
Beckman – Steel – DuhaimeRipjiggenPosts: 11623November 15, 2022 at 2:22 pm #2159495Yeah the whole Jost/ Sturm thing is a bit perplexing. Wild offered Sturm more term and money that he got from the sharks in FA. Maybe he thought he had more opportunity for bigger role there but that is all hindsight. I get why BG moved him for something but Jost is what he is. Just like Steel.
At some point BG needs to find a real 1C and it needs to be at least a year before KK contract is up or he is going somewhere that he can play with one.

Sturm was likely betting on just having a more prominant position in the next few rebuilding years in San Jose and pad his stats out to hopefully cash in on the biggest UFA contract of his career when he turns 30..I mean the guy was getting PP and OT playing time the other night, his butt would never leave the bench in those situations if he stayed with the Wild…his thinking was probably that the Wild would eventually sign a 1C, then if Rossi panned out, he’d likely only have the ceiling of 4C with Rossi, Ek and multiple C prospects ahead of him in the system he’d be competing with…
GMBG will finally have the capspace to offer a huge deal to a 1C in the last year of KK’s deal…KK can then be extended that same season if he wants to stay…KK’s next contract will likely be in the 8 x $14 million aav range if he stays on his current pace…
RipjiggenPosts: 11623November 15, 2022 at 6:07 pm #2159553Yeah only problem with that is what kind of 1C is hitting the market.
November 15, 2022 at 7:39 pm #2159570Wild still don’t like playing in Nashville I see. At least Middleton dropped the gloves and took out some frustration.
November 15, 2022 at 7:40 pm #2159571This is ugly so far. The Preds have their number lately.
That goal by Nino was dirty though.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22882November 15, 2022 at 7:44 pm #2159572That one line from Nashville is a load! All sorts of trouble for the wild.
November 15, 2022 at 7:59 pm #2159573Yeah only problem with that is what kind of 1C is hitting the market.
I believe there’s several UFA 1C’s that COULD be available in 2025 offseason if they dont re-sign with their teams… There’s several in 2026 as well…
Obviously they gotta want to sign with the Wild, but it certainly wont be due to lack of capspace…
November 15, 2022 at 8:31 pm #2159584Almost every check by the Wild are lazy stick checks, every check by the Predators are plastering our guys into the boards….
I hate the Nashville games, they are just a bad matchup for us..

That’s the Wild historically. Last year they changed. We are back to it this season.
I have to say, I’d really like to see Addison unleash a slapper once or twice a PP so they have to respect it. It’s a hard slapshot too. That 2nd PP unit…

I was thinking the same thing.
November 15, 2022 at 9:44 pm #2159591Pretty boring game. Power play was totally inept, 0/5. Not a good start to the season thus far.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22882November 16, 2022 at 8:10 am #2159618Nashville is a heavy team and they avg the most hits per game while we are like 26th. We have had Foligno, Greenway and Duhaime out for large stretches of this season and that is much of the reason why we havent been very physical. This lingering Greenway issue is concerning.
