Nazar and Snuggerrud are my guesses for who the Wild picks in the 1st round tomorrow night.

IF Marco Kasper falls and is within striking range of a trade (pick #19 + our extra 2nd?) I think the Wild would move up for him…

The only thing I dont like about drafting kids going to college hockey is the likely hood they burn the 1st year of their ELC as a playoff practice player…

Kasper looks like a JEEK type to me – seems to be a popular name for the upper 1st round lately though. I remember him from Rossi’s WJC when Rossi had covid and Kasper was obviously their best player… as a 16 year old in a u20 tourney.

Give me one of the Russians, Yurov likely isn’t there at 19 but good chance Mirochnichenko is. Trikozov is another offensive Russian to watch in the 2nd round too.

Still want them to take Hutson just for the fan freak out when they find out he’s 140 lbs.

Reports are saying Kaprizov is wanted in Russia and he has reportedly fled to the United States. His name is linked to fraudulent military IDs being sold to players. I’ll try to get a link to an article in here for reference.

    WOW.
A quick google search shows a few articles related to it, even some from 2021.

Hopefully it’s true he’s back here in the states but this is very intriguing. His dad initially said he didn’t sign a military card that he was taking some military related classes and studying from what was just reported on Sirius.

Latest report is he’s back in the states. Wonder what the extradition laws are between Russia and the U.S.?

If KK winds up in the Russian navy stationed in the Arctic Circle like that goalie prospect for the Flyers I wonder if there is a undo button on that Fiala trade??

I wouldn’t mind them taking Hudson with their comp 2nd round pick if he slides, we need forwards taken with our first 2-3 picks though imo… The only defenseman i’d be ok with them taking would be Hudson or one of the 6’5”+ guys….

I agree but being it just happened to the Flyer goalie lends some credence to the possibility.

I won’t believe anything until Russo or Friedman report it. Someone would be stupid enough to make a swap KK for Griner to get her here and she hates the US.

Sure does, and they are kind of bat poop crazy over there right now.

The Flyers goalie was literally drug off the street and pushed into a van. He was at the enlistment center for hours and now no one seems to know his exact whereabouts.

Awhile back Putin went on a rant about “traitors” who make their wealth in the west then want to live in Russia. There’s a reason agents and GM’s asked their Russian players to stay here in the off season.

Billy’s statement doesn’t exactly give warm fuzzies:

“We’re trying to find out as much as we can, but we’re not worried too much about it. We’re not going to push the panic button. We’re just trying to gather information and find out if this is even credible.”

Who was the first of the Russian Five to defect Federov? I remember him saying how hard of a decision it was he was basically choosing between his wife and family or to play hockey here. He was promised everything would be done to get his family here so he made the leap.

Not that it’s actually defecting but Russia is clearly putting pressure on their hockey athletes not to play here. Would Kk choose hockey here or to stay in his home country with his family and continue playing there? I think we know the answer to that.

Even though this may all be a false flag it’s purpose is to put it in the mind of the players. Fedotov was the “this is real” example.

Yeah Russo’s story in the Athletic doesn’t paint a pretty picture. Yikes this could get interesting. I wouldn’t touch a Russian player in the first round I know that.

Middleton signed the Soucy deal. Nice player to have around for 3 more years.

I’m an idiot so I’d take both of them at 19 and 26… and then they’d be sent to Ukraine next week.

4.9 left. For two forwards and a goalie. Don’t see how Fluery signs unless we move a D.

Assume 1.7 for Rossi and that leaves 3.2 for a forward and a goalie. Swap Kulikov for Addison saves 1.3

Pittsburgh extended their backup and it sounds like Colorado is extending Kuemper so that’s 2 big Fleury options off the table. Toronto is still out there

I agree the GMBG statement was a little worrisome because it wasn’t an immediate denial… that being said Kirill was a model Russian for years by extending with the CSKA Red Army team winning the Giygaren Cup and scoring the Golden goal in the Olympics, he’s well liked by the Oligarchs and other high society Russians, it would take a demand from Putin for anything bad to happen…

    I hope….

Sounds like Fedotov and KK were on the same CSKA team at the same time when Fedotov bought his military ID from some high ranking Russian military officer. He has since been arrested for selling the ID’s to many high profile Russian athletes. So it would not be surprising that KK at the very least was approached with the idea to buy one himself.

If any of this is true it could be a way for Russia to hold sway over their elite athletes. You either stay in your home country serve your military obligation and use your talent here or you will be charged with purchasing a fraudulent document to avoid the military.

It’s been reported Putin is in poor health and mentally unstable. It’s just a crapshoot right now over there. I would think someone would have been able to contact KK by now.

Russo’s report also said that Kaprizov had done everything the Kremlin asked of his while he was there before he left for the NHL. He stayed longer than most because they asked him to. He is picture with Putin A LOT so hopefully he is still in good standing. But who knows what Putin will do.

Sounded like many agents and GM’s begged their Russian players not to go home this off season and they all laughed it off. Scary stuff.

And if Putin kindly asks him not to return to the West and that he will be more than adequately taken care of in Russia what do you suppose KK’s response would be?

At the end of the day these guys are pretty loyal to Russia. KK maybe more than most.

Not sure I buy that but you never know. With the success he had the past two years and not being tied down by Covid regs in our country anymore I’d say KK looked like he loved it here. Not sure he’d be so quick to throw that away. The x factor being any type of threats coming from the Kremlin.

Signing Middleton was huge. Just heard on Kfan that Fleury might be getting multi year offers from other teams. Wild just need to jump off the wagon if that’s the case.

If Putin asks you to stay that’s not really asking in the sense you actually have a choice. No way KK would reject Putin in that scenario and leave his family there.

This is far more intriguing than waiting for him to sign we knew he had to this is like a KGB novel. The longer this goes without BG saying he just got off the phone with KK and everything is fine the stranger it becomes.

They still need a goalie next year and maybe the following.
