I think Phil jumped through a time machine for that sweet goal #400!

Only bad thing is the goal call will always be from Leah Hextall…

I missed the last 2 periods of the Wild game, sounds like it was a much better effort overall…

It was a pretty balanced game all 3 periods. Dumba had his best game all year which isnt saying much but he did. Rossi looked good. KK and Zucc had lots of chances but nothing really materialized. PK was good. PP had chances. Fleury was very good.

I saw that the assist to Duhaime was Goudreau’s first point of the season. I knew he was having a rough start but I didn’t realize it was THAT bad. Pretty amazing with all the grade A chances he’s had so far.

No points until last night, but still was a +/- 0 player. Many guys have a ton of points but are -5 or worse.

I watched the 10 minute game recap video, man we still have some of our top character guys like Foligno and Hartman just putting out minimal effort some times…go rewatch the Caulfield goal and watch Foligno’s lack of effort from the dump into the corner 15 seconds BEFORE the goal…that’s just not who these guys are and yet they are still doing it this short season that leads to bad things happening…

Things are getting better, but there’s still some warts that need to be removed from their game and alot of them are effort warts…

Definitely but this was much closer to what we were accustomed to last year so that is an encouraging sign. At times they were stifling. Just watching the recap you miss out on a lot of that you only get to see the scoring chances but there was so many times where they forced turnover after turnover at the Montreal blue line that it was ridiculous.

They finally had their sticks where they should be and were breaking up passes, shots and scoring chances that were getting through clean in the first few games.

I haven’t seen that much stick swinging in the NHL in a long time like we saw the first few games.

Sounds like Jost is sitting in the press box tonight…I was a fan of his but I have to admit, he’s done nothing the first 5 games and i’m losing confidence he CAN do anything in the NHL…

This will be a good road test tonight. The Senators dont appear to be a pushover anymore. They have won like 4 in a row. Hopefully the Wild can build off the last game.
Jost hasnt done much with his chances and I was hopeful too that he would seize the opportunity, but Shaw was impressive when he played so he deserves a look. I have been impressed with the Deweys too.

Shaw with the Deweys is the perfect 4th line, tons of energy, they can be physical and they can all skate… I have to admit, i’ve liked seeing Duhaime up with Ek though too, he’s showed alot more offensive ability then we’ve seen from him in the past, I think part of it was he thought he only way to stay on the Wild was to fight, now that he’s more established, I think he’s relaxing more into the offensive game…if Greenway’s injuries turn chronic, Duhaime should be the guy who slots in for him, maybe permanantly…

Whats wrong with Greenway again? Shoulder or something like that?

Yeah he injured himself again. Not the same injury apparently. It appears to be shoulder.

big boards collision with Ekman-Larson in the Vancouver game, looked to be either shoulder, collar bone or elbow related, skated right off the ice and to the locker room…GMBG mentioned the other day its significant enough to be a likely a 1-2 month recovery but not year ending…no surgery so likely a tissue/muscle injury…

Jost and Goligoski scratched tonight. Shaw in for Jost. I like this move after seeing the way Shaw brought some intensity in the games he has played in.

Yeah, Shaw was fantastic when he played. That 4th line was very noticeable too, but now its broken up a bit with Greenway out, but Im sure it will still do fine.

So the sky is not falling?
    Fluery is not washed up?
They can still score without Fiala?

    Weird
    Not wild.

Well played. It was a matter of time but they have looked pretty good the last 3 games.

Not bad for a team almost 18mill under the cap vs everyone else eh Mahto? lol
Where is TSW to keep everyone from jumping off a cliff. I hope everything is alright.

I never wanted them to be bad. I’m still not convinced Fleury can keep this up, especially with how bad our backup looks to be. Fleury is going to have to play 60+ games of this team wants to go anywhere. I don’t think that’s reasonable. He has been great the last couple games, I’ll give him that.

And for the record, they are still a sub .500 team. They look much more like themselves lately but we are only 7 games in and only have one injury so far. I hope they do well this year but honestly if they make the playoffs it’s a win with their cap situation.

I agree. I don’t expect them to finish where they did last season but I would expect a playoff berth. 3rd in the central division.

How are the Flyers 5-2? They just beat the Panthers last night for their 5th victory. They were a complete dumpster fire last season and traded away their captain. Probably won’t keep up that pace but 5-2 is pretty good for that team on paper so far.

So is Tampa, Rangers, and Blues. Judging a goalie after 1 start might be a bit premature don’t you think? It is kind of like saying Flower is washed up after 2.

Gaudreau while playing well defensively, is going to be a frustrating player on the 1st line because the guy is just not a finisher…Kap & Zuc set him up with a few grade A chances last night and he just didn’t execute…it’s just something we’ll have to deal with until we find somebody better to play between the Bromance. The 1C role on this team is an interesting one with Kap & Zuc because they can have stretches of ignoring their linemate, so maybe for right now a player like Gaudreau is the best option and you just live with the blown chances vs putting a higher skilled player with them who’s kinda wasted/forgotten about? who knows, it’s an interesting dilema…

Kinda surprised Boldy & Rossi haven’t generated a goal yet, I suspect they’ll have a little explosion soon…Love the 4th line energy, finally a Wild GM & Coach put the right style of players in that role…(combined 4th line caphit is $2.4 million vs previous years of it being in the $5-$6 range…)

I knew Flower would bounce back, the guy is ultra competitive and a 1st ballot HOF’er, unfortunately he was part of a perfect storm of bad defense and just not sharp goaltending to start the season, it looks like the Wild is starting to excercise those demons (not all of them yet though)

The Sens are going to become a power house in a year or two, they have all of the pieces in place besides Goalie…
