Need someone to play D on that line.Yeah, that makes perfect sense.
I mean Zucc has 10 pts through 5 games and is a -7. Kk is not far behind those numbers.
Zuc and Kap always get the empty net minuses too though so it can tilt their +- stat a bit, but yes, they haven’t even been at least average defensively yet…
My worry with Goudreau in the middle between them is he doesn’t even have the ability to burry open nets sofar
Well nobody playing center has on that line thus far. Hasn’t really slowed them down to much but goes to show how week they are still down the middle.
Meh. Jost is just a guy IMO. What has he done to deserve time except be drafted high 6 years ago. He doesn’t deserve anymore of a shot than any other center they have.
I don’t see an above average skill in his game.
Jost has been terrible. He’d get a shot if he looked good but he’s terrible.

lol, who hasn’t been terrible and can play center?

Fair assessment I guess. I do kinda like the fact of Gaudreau on the top line to shore them up defensively a bit. Rossi would be fun too, but lets see how this experiment goes. Boy Dumba is just plain horrible now. I wonder if Dumba playing so poorly is what has drug Brodin down. He is uncharacteristically bad too. Is he covering for Dumba?

I’d rather they keep Rossi with Boldy, I’m fine with trying Goudreau at 1C as an experiment, just needs to be more than 1 game (which is all Jost got)
Didn’t Brodin get a new D partner after the Rangers game? and he still played terribly… I’m fine with Deano messing with all of the D groups, nobody has played well (Middleton has been servicable, but has taken some dumb costly penalties) and they haven’t found the right combos yet…at least Goose got his 1,000 games played handshake contract clause out of the way and can watch from press box now…
GMBG did a recent interview and spoke a bit about how the effort being put out hasn’t been good enough and some guys (he was totally inferring Hartman) might have been riding on the success they had last year into this season, he also talked about guys not sacrificing themselves for blocked shots (the analytics don’t lie)…for a team built around Heart & Character being major trade marks, there were some strong words used by Management describing the tough start.
The good news is that if they win 2-3 games in a row this mostly becomes moot as they’ll be right back in the middle of the division…
You’re right I think Brodin spent some time with Merrill didnt he? He has still be bad.

Yeah, of all the players, his game has been a mystery to me sofar…it’s just feels like some kind of funk with most of the players on this team…maybe it was the way camp was run?
Could be a decent game in Montreal tonight. Somehow the habs are outperforming expectations at 3-3. Caufield and Suzuki are both looking good, as is a man the Wild are very familiar with: Jake Allen.
One more guy to look out for is Arber Xhekaj (they call him Wi-Fi due to his last name). He worked at Costco a couple months ago and now he’s performing in the big show. The kid has showed a lot of promise, and has already dropped Zack Kassian in a brawl. He can really do it all as a defenseman, and is a dark-horse Calder candidate. Should be a good game at Bell Centre
I think we’ve seen enough of Jost to know who he is…..
I think we saw enough of Dumba two years ago and thought we knew who he is but somehow he’s gotten worse every year. The REALLY scary thing is Brodin is coughing up the puck even more than Dumba so far.
I have also figured out why Dumba is so awful. It takes him legit 3 seconds to pass or shoot the puck. Anytime he winds up for a big shot (which we need him to do) a defender from 20 ft away has the time to skate over and block it or take the puck off his stick. He just doesn’t have a chance anymore. He might not make it to the end of the season with this team.

I have never noticed that before, but now that you mentioned it, I can’t unsee it.
Of course you’ll have to forgive me. I’ve been distracted by his poor passing, giving up odd man rushes and general lack of situational awareness.
Rossi coming out slinging I love it.
Agreed. I like seeing him letting it go from the circle on the power play. Seemed like that was the design too. He is looking a little more comfortable tonight I think.
Rossi absolutely looks better the last couple games. It’s impossible not to root for this kid but he deserves to be here.
Holy an icing and the puck never made it across the line. Never saw that before.
Dumba is having his best game so far. Doesnt necessarily say much but he has been good overall. He’s made a few mistakes but nothing like the other games.
Yes, I guess I just had to rag on him since it’s been awhile. He did have a solid game. That’s a big win for them but more because of how they did it. They really locked down the D after the first period. Good to know they can still do that when they try a little harder.
Stone hands powers one into the empty net.
yep that was a great effort.
Fleury had a good game. Rossi looked pretty good. Early to say, but we needed that win.
I saw that the assist to Duhaime was Goudreau’s first point of the season. I knew he was having a rough start but I didn’t realize it was THAT bad. Pretty amazing with all the grade A chances he’s had so far.
Not really going on limb here, but before the season started I picked Col NYR in the finals this year. After watching this game, I would LOVE to see a 7 game finals between these two (obviously wild first buuuut). Absolutely electric teams.
Oh gawd, Leah Hextall doing play-by-play right now on ESPN for the Sharks vs Knights game… I guess she’s back at it…
