Well don’t have to worry about keeping the kid out late.

Ha! Fleury didn’t have much of a chance on 2 of those goals but Shesterkin is unreal. Dewar looks terrible

No just don’t think they will get 4-5 on Igor. Especially if you don’t get one 5 on 3.

Look nothing like the team that played a week ago…they fight on their team bonding trip in Iowa?

Not a ton you can do when Igor is this sharp…take some boneheaded D zone mistakes away and against a different goalie and the Wild is winning after 2…

Shesterkin is unreal but I won’t put this on Fleury. Goaltending is what I was worried about going into this season roll back the tape. I’m still ok at this point but it’s not starting out well.

At least we’ll get 81 great games in a row now from Brodin for the rest of the regular season…

D was awful, Fluery looked like a 38 year old goalie (surprise surprise), Boldy gave me some hope.

The Rangers are a really good team with a great goalie.
Also this was no where near the beating that Chicago took from Colorado.

rewatching the 9 minute game recap video on youtube it’s obvious that the Defense group had the worst possible game they could…the forwards contributed with terrible defensive zone coverage too, but the goals were a result of the Defenseman mistakes…imo Flower was at fault on 2 of the goals (Panarin’s goal he was flopping, Chytil’s goal he missed the dump in around the net that led to the goal (terrible Hartman coverage too) but the rest were not his fault…

My guess is that Evason just works the hell out of the players on d-zone/net coverage all practice today…Igor was a big factor in the game as well, but don’t forget the Rangers are one of the best in the East…Rangers coach Gallant summed it up best, one team was playing it’s 2nd game in 2 days, the other it’s first game in about a week, the rust on the Wild’s game was obvious…

I’d bet they open a can of whoopa$$ on the Kings tomorrow night releasing some frustration…

I was at the game and it was gawdawful on every level.

As mentioned, the D was terrible across the whole team including the forwards. Huge gaps and wide open lanes.

The pk. Oh. My. Aching. @ss. How many times did the Rangers pass east west right through our D for wide open back door chances? It was like watching a HS team try to defend. So much for Deano’s focus on fixing the pk. It looked worse than last season.

    Zero physicality. No finishes. Nothing.

    Hartman. Ug.

The D corps were so bad that Dumba may well have had the best game of the lot.

Goaltending. Ug. To make it worse the Rangers had huge blown rebound opportunities, they could have easily hung 8-9 on the Wild if they would have cashed in.

The PP. Ug. And another blown 5-3. I swear I heard somebody yell bring back Suter.

The atmosphere at the X was dead. Fire the game ops people. Nothing has changed since 2003.

I don’t get out to alot of games, they are typically spread out to a couple a year and I absolutely agree, the game ops is no different than what it was 10+ years ago…They need to hire the Not Weird, Wild advertising group to think of new ideas for the game ops…

I thought the Powerplay was fine (They had a TON of shots, Igor just made the saves) The 5-3 got a little too cute though…

The PK…/ovey… I saw no difference from last years nonsensicle plan…Hopefully Deano holds his coaches accountable….

Wild played like it was still a pre season game. Rangers knew the season started. I mean when Brodin looks like it was his first NHL game you know they didn’t bring it.
I believe Tampa was blown out at home 7-3 in the first game last year. May as well get the worst game of the season out of the way the first game.

Yeah, Joe Smith the new Wild dude who covered the Lightning made note of this. They went on to have a pretty solid season for sure.

Maybe that’s where I heard it don’t know. I wasn’t really interested in the cliff diving comments after the game on Russo.

What happened to all those big name players that teams were going to have to dump to get under the cap. 😳

When the faithful are missing THAT, you know it was bad.

And no, I’m not going all “We all gonna die,” on this. I just wanted more from the Wild on home opener that THAT steaming hot mess.

I think I had nightmares of that Kaapo Kakko goal last night. Really hope that’s the worst goal against I have to witness all year.

It will be a very uncomfortable film session for Ek & Foligno when that goal is replayed…Deano and the players should just say “Fu#$ it!” forget that miserable game, get back to work on d-zone coverage basics and release their frustration on the Kings tommorrow night…Its kinda funny, if we had won, would the vibe in the state be we’re going 82-0 this year???

    some positives:
I actually liked our Powerplay mentality, Kaprizov was a shooting machine, we got tons of shots and chances, just didn’t beat Igor…The 5-3 got too cute, but I don’t suspect they’ve practiced it much yet this season…

Boldy took over in the 3rd period and showed us what he’s capable of…he impressed me and looks much improved over last season…

Duh… that was the vibe coming out of pre-season

Kaprizov looked 100x better than start of last year, I forgot how good he is. Boldy is unreal, I really think he’s getting that JRob money. That backhand toe-drag through his own feet peace

Boldy was impressive for sure. KK and Zucc were -4 each and the only reason Hartman wasnt is because he was in the box. Bad game by him.
Their first shift they could have scored like 3 goals, but when you have the top 1 or 2 goalie in the world in the opposing net, nothing is easy.

Took a lot of crap from my buddies at lunch today: “what the hell happened to your Wild? I thought you said they were going to be decent?” I said they will finish 81-1. THey just had to get the taste of a loss to know how much they hate it.
