Yeah noting happened to Beckman, he just isn’t that good. No one had any clue who he was until last preseason, and that’s my point about preseason isn’t real.

Who is the odd man out then with this bold prediction. AVs Wild Blues Preds?

Preds are the obvious choice, right. Goalie gets hurt again and they’re toast. They overachieved by making the playoffs last year and then got embarrassed by Colorado.

Don’t necessarily disagree. I actually kind of like there off season moves however. See if Juicy can play as many games as last year.

IF Duchesne can duplicate his career year, Nashville will be in the playoff hunt due to having 2 scoring lines again (with Forsberg) Nino off to his typical hot start again…Their defense got a bit better with McDonough added as well, I think they’ll be improved if their goalie stays healthy as mentioned…

I get the feeling Dallas will implode with Benn and Seguin getting older and often injured and just not caring anymore. The Stars rely on their defense to drive the offense and they’ll miss Klingberg alot…

I think the Blues will regress a bit this year as well, Binnington is a head case and Terasenko knows he’s playing his last season in St Louis, they needed a long stretch of winning hockey to get back into the playoff hunt last year, I don’t think they’ll sustain another this season.

I think Colorado will really miss not having Kadri to drive the 2nd line and realize early on that Newhook isn’t the answer…also can their stars stay healthy?

I don’t see much improvement from the Jets, their core feels like its burning out…

Chicago and Arizona will be league punching bags all year in a race for the best ping-pong luck for Bedard…

If Flower stays healthy and the young kids (Body/Rossi/Addison) can produce, the Wild are poised to perhaps steal the division, finish no worse than 3rd imo..

Agree with almost all of what Joe said… he may have been hacked.

No way Duchene repeats 40+ goals, they were daring Seattle to take him last summer. Old McDonaugh and Nino aren’t enough to move the needle forward.

Dallas is looking at a Parise/Suter situation with Benn and Seguin coming up. They have some young studs that will keep them on the bubble every year though. JRob, Hintz, Miro, Otter is a borderline elite u25 core to build around. Problem is the rest of the team is pretty terrible. I think their previous coach sucked so they might get a boost from PDB.

Blues is where I disagree – they’re the team everyone sleeps on and I don’t know why. I think they’re equal to the Wild – they proved they were better in the playoffs last year. They actually gave Colorado they’re biggest challenge in the playoffs. Agree they could be cratered by Binnington, but the same thing can be said for the Wild with Flower. Their regular season heater was matched game for game by the Wild and they still only finished like 5 points apart.

Colorado story starts with the goalie but no one talks about that… They don’t have a starting goalie! Kuemper is a top 5 goalie over the last 5 or so seasons based on stats and people questioned him more than they are a dude who’s never been a starter. There’s a reason Kuemper cost a 1st plus legit prospect and Georgiev cost a mid-rounder. Also expect them to fight injuries this year and Kadri was their injury mitigation the first half of last year. Landeskog is already hurt and Mackinnon hasn’t played a full season in 3 years. Kadri filled that void for the regular season last year and they don’t have anyone to replace that now.

Winnipeg might just implode this year and the other 2 aren’t worth mentioning.

The AVs were slow out of the gate last year as well and went on a ridiculous run the second half.
Foresberg year last year was pretty outstanding as well. 84pts in 69 games when he had never been a ppg player before.
I think Granny and Nino reunite and get them in jester

Foresberg grew a sweet stache though so there’s a reason for his production increase. Well that and maybe the contract year thing jester OK you can add him to the list of why I’m not a Smashville believer this year.

Addy needs to bring back his stash. Especially if he is teamed with Merrill.

the other 2 aren’t worth mentioning.

Lol I assume you are referencing that team from the desert and that other team from the Windy City.

Something not mentioned here yet in regards to Nashville is Roman Josi. He tallied 96 points last season in 80 games. I doubt he repeats that but 75 isn’t out of the realm of possibility. I actually thought he would win the Norris, not Makar.

Rangers looked solid tonight. Zibanejad scored on the PP as well as shorthanded. I honestly think he could put up 90-100 pts this year. Igor looked sharp as always, only gave up one goal on a 5v3

I have no idea why, but I love those chrome domes the Kings have.

I’m surprised VGK didn’t wear the gold helmets to match… They’re equally hideous.

Watch out for Eichel this year.

Eichel just gives off the “killed by his own soldiers in a foxhole” vibe…

Imo, the Wild really dodged a bullet not mortgaging their future to get him…

Maybe that’s why I said watch out for him lol. He looks like a younger version of the home alone guy and he’s half way through his nightly 8 ball.

What I actually meant was I think he’s going to get lots of goals and assists this year.

Ive been bored this morning and was hoping there would be something new on the Posted Up with Ryan Carter thing, but nothing real recent. But I rewatched this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JokYFxBJAE and about died. I didnt even catch on to Dumbas initial number “55”. LOL Dumba55! That was in the previous video, this is the second one.

Is this the one where they do the origin of “Jimmy”? Carter is really good with the informal interviews but IDK if they’re doing that bit again? I thought maybe it was replaced by Carter and King doing the official Wild podcast now.

I hope they drop the awkward segments with the Radio guy they did last year. Everyone seemed so uncomfortable with him. I don’t think he’s going to last much longer in general – I listened to a couple preseason games and did not like it.

I really want to like him, but he is such a stiff it seems. LaPanta at least has some personality.

Buffalo signed Mattias Samuelson to a 7 x $4.3 extension. I had no idea who he was so had to look it – 22 yo kid with 50 NHL games and played 22 AHL games last year. Be like giving a 7 year deal to Calen Addison right now except he has Brock Faber’s skill set. Kinda brings the betting on their future to a whole new level. I bet it still works out great for the team.

Saw that deal. He definitely isnt betting on himself with that deal. That could be an underpay at the end for sure, but good for him.

Yeah and he could be a career 3rd pairing guy who’s overpaid, it’s a risk for both sides really. One thing that makes it a little easier for the teams to gamble is the buyout cap hit for players under 26 is only half what it is for players over 26. If they wanted to buy him out it would only be a $0.7m cap hit, less than league minimum.

\The U26 buyout rule is a great point and likley a big factor in the teams thinking when offering them…benefit to the team is it keeps the AAV alot lower for the young player…

I beleive that’s Ulf’s kid isn’t it? wonder if he has the “kneeing” gene in his game…
