Well since nobody else had brought it up I’ll bring up the subject that all great Minnesota hockey minds will want to weigh in on.

Will Gigi be back in the broadcast booth this season?

She better be back for her Christmas pageant with Audra

Although I’d love to see Walz and Carter give that a shot

    That was hilarious.

I think that was the most painful thing I’ve ever seen on any Minnesota sports broadcast ever. I mean the Vikings blowing it by missing a last second field goal… Well ho hum we’ve been there before.

The only thing more cringeworthy than that little duet was… Well… Gigi doing color commentary.

Cap going up after next season. This is HUGE news for the Wild, it drops the buyout cap hits from a whopping 17.6% to a miniscule 16.7% …. HUUUUGE

next years $1 million increase was always expected, but up $4 the following year is earlier than projected and helps the Wild immensely the final year of caphell…
I know Kirill’s agent is loving the news…Boldy is likely happier to sign the cheaper 2-3 year bridge deal as well…

Sam Steel is going to push Rossi hard for a roster spot… he’s looked good tonight…

Let’s see if that line can make it through the first shift of the 3rd without getting scored on.

Boldy looks way outta place in this game

Stellar effort by both Wild goalies tonight stopping 40+ shots (both Avs goals were Wild defenseman blunders)

as mentioned, Boldy looks super polished already… he’ll be key on the powerplay this season..

Youngsters Firstov and Milne looked good in their first game. Iowa should have a good team this year…

Not impressed at all with the new 6’6” defenseman we signed…

Powerplay goals. I love seeing PP goals. I don’t care if it is the preseason, I want PP goals and more PP goals.

Jost looked good and I’d just love to have him have a real breakout year and just light it up. You look at a guy like Jost and I just think there has to be more in the tank than what he showed with the Avs, I’d just hope that we get him on the right line and there’s big upside with him.

Of course it’s preseason so the big guns for the Avs weren’t there but the goaltending looked good when you take away the defense blunders that left guys skating in wide open.

It will be interesting to start getting the big guns in there and seeing how Rossi and some others look in a game with a nearly-NHL roster playing.

Rossi: Does he make the cut? I guess that’s what everyone wants to know.

From what I was reading here and elsewhere, Steel looked very good. I havent seen anything myself, but that might be tough for Rossi.

Watching the highlights now and Boldy just looks amazing. The chemistry with Jost and Steel was pretty obvious last night too. That second goal was a Steel turnover then a bonehead play by the D, Gustavson had no chance. Both goalies looked pretty dang good there were a lot of grade A chances.

Boldy better be a PP1 mainstay this year – he was really good there last year when given the opportunity. No clue what to make of Rossi yet, but it sure seems like Steel has taken the spot we expected Rossi to fall into. Kinda like what happened with Boldy and Rem Pitlick last year.

Rossi in a bottom 6 role wouldnt be good IMO. We need him in the top 6 for him to succeed. Its kind of a bummer we got Steel and that might cost Rossi a spot, but you always need depth due to injuries.

Steel looked fast, but made his share of mistakes and was only 6/16 on faceoffs. Boldy and Jost did most of the work on the goals and Alex Newhook was the best player for the Avs so the competition wasn’t the best… I’d like to see what Rossi looks like with the same linemates…Rossi could get the pinch though due to his lack of requiring waivers to be sent down to Iowa vs Steel…. Maybe they give Steel the first 10 games or so, re-evaluate and then call Rossi up if needed…

Sheesh I realize this is preseason but there is no one there. The X was essentially packed.

The more I watch Wallstedt the more excited I get for the future of the wild. They say it takes about 100 AHL games for goalies until teams feel comfortable to bring them up. Just compared to some of the other highly touted goalies like Carter Hart and Spencer Knight even KK he just seems so calm and mature. He has such a level head and calmness about him that he acts much older than 19.

He really seems like he could be one of that lives up to the hype but also one that could handle being a number 1 at a young age.

He’s very very impressive and he’s only 19 years old! Only nitpick about him (and its minor and can be improved upon with coaching/training) is his perceived lack of elite quickness… although his elite positioning could be causing that…

Rossi looking like a kid who’s kicking down the door to a roster spot… has anyone noticed Adam Beckman once tonight??? Not good for him…

I keep forgetting this is Dallas’s telecast because they are fawning over the Wild young guys so much…

I know its only been 2 preseason games for them, but how do you not put Boldy – Rossi – Jost line together to start the season? They are all very sharp to start the preseason sofar…

You hear the die hares use that as a critique. Frankly I haven’t seen it as as he seems to be quick enough every level he has played at.
But damn he looks huge. And so smooth and quiet in his movements for being a tallish goalie.

Steel is going to make the team, that leaves GMBG with a tough decision on keeping Dewar or Duhaime (they’d likely keep Duhaime)

Can Dewar be sent to Iowa without waivers? If not he’d likely get plucked…

I think both Dewey’s need to clear waivers to be assigned to Iowa, but not positive – I am positive both would be claimed though so no way they are sending them through waivers. They don’t need to make that decision until Greenway is back anyway so just see how it plays out the first couple weeks of the season. And there might be more injuries to deal with by that point so who knows what happens.

Brodin and Spurgeon were one of the best D-pairs in the league the year Dumba tore his pec. I hope they get to stay together.

If Sustr makes the team and plays regularly over Addison (like Benn last year) I might have to find a new team.

Miro Heiskanen is so freaking good.

They will carry 13 forwards. Why would they have to make a decision at all.

Yeah that’s only if they trade for another forward without sending anyone the other way like Russo keeps insinuating.
