The oilers are offended you didn’t list them as well.

Do you have anymore excuses of why Rossi can only be in between KK and Zucc or it’s just failure by the wild. jester
Pretty sure the horse is dead. Maybe one more whack.

You draft the kid at #9 overall as a future 1C, he plays well enough as a top center in the AHL for almost 2 seasons leading them in ppg (I think he got more than Walker this year?) and you won’t even try him with your top winger to see if there’s any chemistry playing with other highly skilled players? It just doesn’t make much sense for a team that their only other option was to play a guy who was released by the 2nd worst team in the league and picked up a week before the season started because nobody else wanted him…there’s no excuses to not even try it for a game or two, we’re not that good not to try…(and the 1 point Rossi has in the NHL, was an assist on a goal by Kirill)

isn’t that called our PP1 unit? Zuccy kind of plays distributor down in the corner… and isn’t the idea to kind of spread the wealth over a couple of lines so 1 line doesn’t get singled out by the opposition’s #1 D pair and shutdown forwards?

Yeah good point never worked for Colorado or Dallas the last couple years. Loading up a line with your best players to try scoring goals is dumb, I’ll shut up now.

Just saying it’s nuts we have never seen that combo at 5v5. Did KK-Boldy-Zuccy a few periods last season and they had chances every shift together.

242 new PB oops sorry to steal that glory

not disagreeing, just rehashing points made by GMBG and Deano about needing other lines besides Kirill’s to score…

The Oilers have said MANY times they don’t like to pair McJesus and Leon together for that exact reason…they typically only do it when desperate to score or after a PK…

you keep working on that master plan of how Rossi can earn it first…

I’m done arguing it because its going to happen this preseason and we’ll all find out…there’s no future with Hartman at 1C, zero chance they extend him anywhere near the same area code 1C’s get paid….he’ll go back to being a 3rd line grinder and hope for anything near $3aav…

Pretty sure that’s what we have been saying this whole time is to let it play out and see where the lines shake out.

But we got to 242. yay

Buddy I’m not sure what you’re talking about here they played 469 minutes together at 5v5 last year. That’s almost 6 minutes/game over a full 82.

I said they play together every shift after a PK and when they are down a goal in the 3rd…Their coach has said numerous times he doesn’t really want to play them together alot…They also play the entire PP and OT together…

469 minutes together at 5v5 – do you understand how much time that is together? Woodcroft can say whatever he wants but the numbers are the numbers, apparently you’re eating up that BS

That’s an entire NHL season for Ryan Reaves

The topic has been debated for years, of course they score, but they also give up a ton of goals…

As they say F around and find out.
To me Rossi makes more sense in between the bigger bodies of Jojo and Boldy. Ek makes more sense being the big body net front presence between zuccy and Ek.
I also think there is nothing wrong with Freddy at wing at times. Injuries can and will happen so going to have to be able to move around.

I agree 100%. Ek can fit in almost anywhere but the thought of boldy JoJo and Rossi sounds like so much fun! Give it a shot and see how it goes.

I just don’t want Ek relegated to the 3rd checking line again or I might need to unretire the “Stonehands” nickname…The Boldy-Ek-JoJo line was on fire the last month before Ekker got hurt…

    A path to get a 1C…

Why doesn’t this make sense to at least try if you’re GMBG?

Wild gets – Elias Lindholm who has 1 more year on his contract at $4.85

Calgary gets – Marco Rossi, 2023 1st round pick #21 and #64 2nd round pick, Marcus Foligno (Maybe they would want Addison instead of 2nd round pick #64, if that’s the case, then do it)

    How the deal works:
Calgary is going to want a 1st round center prospect back to align with Lindholm leaving (Rossi is our only option) this years 1st round pick is a no brainer to get a deal done, Foligno goes to Calgary to help the money work and allows Calgary to flip him at the trade deadline for more assets (relieving the Wild from having to do it) That leaves $1.75 of Lindholm’s current contract we would need to fit under the cap THIS SEASON, we should be able to find that space or you do what’s necessary to make it work to finally get a 1C on the roster…

Next season we would need to sign Lindholm to a likely 8 year extension in the $8.5 aav range, we could easily fit that under the cap with a combination of next years expected $4-$5 million jump in the cap, Zuccy likely resigned for $3aav and Flower & Goose’s contracts come off the books replaced by Wallstedt and an Iowa Defenseman’s ELC…The only RFA’s to resign next year are Dewar, Walker and Beckman…

What part of that deal doesn’t at least make some sense to try? (taking out the known questions of if Lindholm truly wants out of Calgary and if they would want Rossi and Foligno in return)

This would give the Wild 3 legit center’s (Lindholm, Ek, Gaudreau) all signed for 5+ years and if that’s the case, we can afford to let Rossi go…

The money/capspace shouldn’t be used as an excuse, there are many different paths possible to make the money work…

Dang… lots of NHL action today, seems like some teams are freeing capspace for more moves (possibly at the draft) and other teams with capspace are talking advantage of those who dont.

    Two 1C’s traded today…

Sounds like the Hayes trade has hit a snag but lots of rumors around of other deals too.

yeah, Torey Krug doesn’t want to go to Philly and is enforcing his Mod-NTC list…I think the Avs stold Johansson…

Lots of positioning before the draft, I think we could see some fireworks on Wednesday….

You think they traded him for an AHL player that is a free agent and Nashville still ate half the salary.
I honestly don’t understand the trade for Nashville. I get they are retooling but did they really have to give him away for a bag of pucks and still pay half.

#1 centers traded?? Lol I need to see the criteria for what a #1 is now those trades are glorified buyouts

An actual 1C trade will be this PLD to LA deal, sounds like vilardi iafallo plus. Ironic that I see PLD as Ryan Johanson Jr.

I don’t think galchenyuk is an ahl player but I really don’t see him near the level of Johansson even with the salary retained. Those details weren’t available when I made my initial comment.

It was their only option to unload Johanson other than a buyout simple as that. Galchenyuk being involved is just funny, I would love to know why he got tossed in as a UFA. That’s like a dozen teams in about 5 years for him now

He is defiantly an an AHL player he played 11 games last year in NHL.

But they need to buy him out seems like that is a last ditch effort. Teams are obviously figuring it out a way to not do buyouts.
And yes Johansson and Hayes are not 1C I want any part of.

Ditto. I’ll take Ryan Hartman at a mill any day of the week.
