Poor Montreal, they thought they had the #17 pick in the draft when the playoffs started due to a trade with Florida, now that pick will be #31 or #32…

Dallas extending their season a bit last night. More hockey, now FLA will be even more rested.
May 29, 2023 at 8:39 pm #2205432This is the end of the line for the Stars. They are down 4-0 in the second period. The building is lifeless and the fans are booing them.
Prepare yourself for the desert versus the swamp in the Stanley cup finals.
May 30, 2023 at 8:27 am #2205467Kudos to Vegas for taking the risk of trading for Eichel pre neck surgery..it sure paid off for them…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23377May 30, 2023 at 8:32 am #2205470How awesome is it that the Stars get destroyed in front of their home fans and booed! Norm Green still sucks!

It never gets old. Loved watching the game even more as Vegas ran up the score.
However… I wouldn’t be planning the victory parade just yet if I were Vegas. I don’t see a lot of 6-0 wins coming their was my against Fla.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23377May 30, 2023 at 9:13 am #2205486Vegas is good no doubt, but if I were to put money down it would be on the Panthers.
May 30, 2023 at 9:19 am #2205488Glad Dallas lost. But, can someone explain to me why they don’t play game 1 until Saturday!?

Their goal is to stretch it out as long as possible. Happens every year. Last year the Avalanche didn’t win until the last weekend in June but the playoffs were delayed because of a number of postponed games in Canada earlier in the season.
May 30, 2023 at 10:18 am #2205506I got more pleasure out of watching the Dallas fan reactions to getting smoked out of the playoffs than I should have…looked like a bunch of them regret those recent jersey purchases too!
May 30, 2023 at 11:19 am #2205515so the Wild “promoted?” Brett McClean to the Iowa Wild head coach job… not sure how I feel about that move…what has he or the other Wild Assistant coaches done the past few years that has impressed anyone? They were in charge of the Powerplay and Penalty Kill (I beleive Brett ran the powerplay?) too much inconsistency and times when it looked like nobody had any idea what they were doing…
So now he’s in charge of developing the kids we expect to help our cup run starting in 2 years? Feels to me like they mailed this in…
Coincidentally, this means the Wild will get a new Powerplay coach, so that’s good…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23377May 31, 2023 at 10:27 am #2205771Some minion proposed a Marco Rossi for Willy Nylander trade. Aside from the fact that the Wild already lack center depth and dont need wings how on Earth would they even afford him? Some of these people are just dumb.

Yeah, that same poster also said the Wild could afford doing it because they already had good center depth with Ek, Gaudreau and Steel…folks just looking for offseason clicks is all…
tswobodaPosts: 8723May 31, 2023 at 12:29 pm #2205802Sounds like they offered McLean the Iowa job weeks ago and he just accepted it now.. So they obviously wanted him, not just a fall back. He was the Powerplay coach the last couple years so yeah not a great first impression but not sure that’s a reflection on how he is as a head coach or developing you guys. Russo mentioned in a recent podcast that all his previous players love him and everyone has great things to say. Could be a NHL head coach one day. Now do they fill the open MN seat with a big name associate coach or another lifelong assistant? I’d love to see Scott Stevens coach again but I think he basically retired after his last stint here.
Gustavsson contract sounds like it’s not going to be an easy one. He had some very good numbers last year so they do have a bit of leverage there.
tswobodaPosts: 8723May 31, 2023 at 12:34 pm #2205806Kyle Dubas talking about the Tkachuk-Huberdeau/Weegar trade in the exit presser and then the Maple Leafs replacing him with the loser of that trade is hilarious. Feels like Dubas won that very public break-up.

This is where Doug Weight could be hired..

How different would that trade get looked at had the Panthers NOT snuck into the playoffs and went on their magical run though? Yes, Tkachuk had alot of points this season, but he also went from Johnny Hockey to Barkov, Huberdeau wasn’t so fortunate…The whole Dubas/Shanahan/Toronto post season thing got wierd for sure…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23377tswobodaPosts: 8723May 31, 2023 at 4:20 pm #2205859Don’t think this is the position but at some point Koivu is going to get an actual job with the Wild coaching or management staff.

Yup it’s revisionist history for sure, the trade was an A+ for Treliving when it happened. But the trade never should have happened… Tkachuk wanted a long term deal in Calgary 4 years ago but was only offered the bridge. Just thought it’s ironic the team built around young superstars hired a GM who just squandered 2 young superstars.
May 31, 2023 at 5:08 pm #2205873say the Gustavssson contract talks go south, where do we trade him and what kind of return could we get back?
Here’s a scenario – Trade him to the Kings for 2021 2nd round pick Francesco Pinelli and a 2nd round pick in 2024…
May 31, 2023 at 5:29 pm #2205877Maybe they wanted to get a coach on the staff that could actually help the special teams and asked McLean to take the job at Iowa.
June 1, 2023 at 10:06 pm #2206225The Wild’s Cadian Bankier just got absolutely smoked in a fight tonight in the Memorial Cup tourney… he came to the defense of a linemate’s huge open ice hit…he probably shouldn’t have….
Late nights fist fights half pipes and dirt bikes can I get a hell yea???? pic.twitter.com/P01dhoKyB2

Yikes, might want to show up to a fight ready to go there young buck!
June 5, 2023 at 8:27 pm #2206749The route is on in Vegas tonight. 4-0 Knights in the second period. Bobrovsky has been yanked for Alex Lyon.
June 6, 2023 at 7:41 am #2206793I don’t follow hockey as closely as most of the guys in this thread but I’ve watched several playoff games after the Wild exited. The Wild have a loooong way to go!!
I have a friend who is a big hockey fan in his mid 60s. He said, “I just want them to win it during my lifetime.” I hope he has a long life.CaptainMuskyPosts: 23377June 6, 2023 at 8:05 am #2206801Yeah I expected a much better showing for Florida in this series but at this rate they will get swept.
June 6, 2023 at 8:15 am #2206805I think Florida bounces back…all Vegas did was hold serve at home…Florida got undiciplined and paid for it, sound familiar Wild fans?
