Sammy Walker out of the Worlds with a shoulder injury. Russo says he should be ready for camp.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 15, 2023 at 3:45 pm #2202687Even if the Kraken lose, I’ve been impressed with them this post season. I don’t get to see many of their regular season games being they are mostly a 9pm start time, but taking down the Avalanche and then taking Dallas to 7 games is pretty impressive for an expansion team in its second season. I remember when Vegas made it all the way to the finals a few years ago and then lost to Washington in their first expansion season too.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 15, 2023 at 6:15 pm #2202721Remember the Avs in 3? I was the first to say this team is pretty deep no superstars but there’s a reason their still alive. I think they win tonight. A lot more player playoff success than stars.
May 15, 2023 at 8:35 pm #2202743It is shocking to me that Robertson only has 2 goals the entire post season and Dallas may be on the verge of advancing to the west finals.

Deep, and very good in the middle of the ice, unlike a team we watched all season…..

Wait are you saying Seattle has good centers?!
The xfactor for Seattle was Grubauer finally woke up this playoffs and gave them average goaltending for the first time in the history of their franchise. They remind me of Carolina but with slightly less talent. Play fast, forcheck like crazy, pucks on net, and hope for the best.
Cool run for the Kraken, an all expansion WCF would have been hilarious and maybe a little depressing. I guess we settle for VGK against the coach they just fired and the guy they tried to trade against his will and had to take back.

Yeah hes been a ghost out there. They hardly mention his name.
May 16, 2023 at 10:05 am #2202832not seeing any “Fxxx YOU” in Rossi’s game vs Denmark right now… dissapointing…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 16, 2023 at 10:13 am #2202837ESPN+
Ok, He just made an awesome play for a 1st assist to bring Austria within 1, 10 minutes left in the 3rd…he’s basically playing with linemates who likely wouldn’t make the AHL, so there’s that…
tswobodaPosts: 8521May 16, 2023 at 10:21 am #2202841Ever watch Kopitar play international? It’s hilarious he would play 40 minutes a game and take every single faceoff. Rossi is 21 but maybe someday he and Kasper can carry Austria each playing half the game. I remember in the WJC Rossi played that Kasper was the obvious best player for Austria as a 16 year old. Is Kasper playing this WC?

That’s kinda the norm for the smaller countries with any established NHL player(s) They play EVERYTHING… I think Kasper is hurt…
May 16, 2023 at 2:07 pm #2202918Fun trade idea proposed on TSN regarding Austin Mathews (not Wild related)
TO MONTREAL –
Auston Matthews
TO TORONTO –
Cole Caufield
Mike Matheson
5th overall pick 2023Would you do this trade if you were Toronto? I would in a second…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 16, 2023 at 2:33 pm #2202929If I was Montreal heck yeah. Not sure I would if Im Toronto but they are likely not able to keep their core 4 anyway so maybe. Sounds like Dubas may be out. Contract is up and it doesnt sound like he wants to come back because “his family has been through a lot” not sure what that means.
RipjiggenPosts: 11601May 16, 2023 at 2:47 pm #2202931It means being GM in Toronto. I just an article from today that he says he doesn’t plan on going anywhere. Guess we will see.
May 16, 2023 at 2:54 pm #2202935Dubas should be out imo…he’s failed to surround his superstars with the proper role players for the playoffs and failed to address the goalie position year after year all while mortgaging future draft picks…I agree the market he’s in is tough, but that also affords him luxeries other GM’s don’t have (huge local endorsement deal opportunities for players, huge coaching staff, unlimited funds for buyouts, AHL contracts, etc)
tswobodaPosts: 8521May 16, 2023 at 10:41 pm #2203025Coyotes are toast in AZ after the vote tonight. Need to force a sale there.
I hope that means Cooley at the Gophs for 3 more seasons
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 17, 2023 at 8:13 am #2203049They should move to Houston. Texas has an emerging hockey market and Houston is what the 4th largest city?
May 17, 2023 at 8:15 am #2203050I’d like to see them move to KC, although I think the Texas markets are much bigger…Thrashers proved GA isn’t sustainable and I think Quebec is a pipedream…
May 17, 2023 at 8:16 am #2203052I hope that means Cooley at the Gophs for 3 more seasons
his agent likely wants him to burn through his ELC asap to time the huge cap increases expected in 2-3 years for his next contract…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 17, 2023 at 8:22 am #2203054It would be cool to bring back the Nordiques. Quebec City is beautiful I hear would love to make a road trip there for a Wild Game.
May 17, 2023 at 9:28 am #2203076looks like the NHL Network poached all of the good WHC games…they are showing the USA vs Austria game right now…ESPN+ gets all of the scrub country games…
May 17, 2023 at 10:46 am #2203116with a clear picture of where the Wild will draft next month, here are a few players “likely” to be in the 17-21 range (Wild could possibly include 1 of their 2nd round picks to move up 4-5 picks if they wanted to)
1) Calum Ritchie
Center | Oshawa Generals (OHL)
6’2″
187 lbs
Canadain2) Samuel Honzek
Center | Vancouver Giants (WHL)
6’4″
185 lbs
Slovakian3) Dmitri Simashev
Defense | Loko Yaroslavl KHL
6’4″
201 lbs
Russian4) Nate Danielson
Center | Brandon OHL
6’1″
185 lbs
Canadain5) Colby Barlow
LW | Owen Sound OHL
6’1″
187 lbs
Canadain6) Gabe Perreault (Likely going early)
RW | USDP
5’11”
165 lbs
USA*) Oliver Moore (Likely going early)
Center | USDP
5’11”
176 lbs
USAI’d take Oliver Moore in a heartbeat if he somehow slips, but I don’t see it…Danielson is likely gone early too..Ritchie is probably the safest bet if drafting a center in this range, Honzek is a very interesting player, the size is crazy, his draft ranking dropped a bit after a mid-season injury last year, so he’s maybe a bit undervalued…I’m not a fan of the big Russian D Simashev, his skating just isn’t there imo and then there’s the KHL issue..

it gets clicks and the base all riled up…i’m not talking about Rossi anymore until I see him at training camp…safe to say this is an important offseason for him to develop his body and game enough to shed the “AHL only player” label…it will be upto him…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22813May 17, 2023 at 12:40 pm #2203153Yeah it sounds like hes staying here over the summer and I am sure that is going to help tremendously with his strength which he lost so much of during the crap he dealt with. Sounds like that is the biggest issue with him right now.
