The only team I can remember that’s jumped up the lottery multiple times is the Blackhawks. Everything can be rigged and look legit.

    What about Edmonton’s 2010-2016 lottery run of picking #1, #1, #1, #7, #3, #1, #4?

They were legit terrible I don’t think those were lottery years or at least all of them. The Blackhawks have jumped up in the lottery like no other team.

Blackhawks have moved up in the lottery 3 times since 2000 with their biggest jump coming in 2017 when they jumped up 9 spots to get Kirby Dach at #3. Moved up 4 spots to get Kane and 2 spots now for Bedard. I have no idea about other teams but I bet moving up 3x is close to the top but definitely not the most and certainly not if you’re counting how many places they’ve jumped up in the draft order.

Stuff like this doesn’t help the optics, why decline comment? Just be upfront with it???

“NHL and broadcaster Kevin Weekes both declined to comment when reached by The Athletic for comment/explanation about the early on-air revelation that #CBJ  were picking No. 3 ahead of deputy commish Bill Daly flipping the placard.”

I saw that too! That was ridiculous! I was like WTF they didnt even show CBJ at 3 and went to commercial! Then when the Blackhawks were awarded number one I go “I F*cking knew it” so loud my wife is now pissed at me because I woke her up and scared the dog.

I actually feel bad for Bedard. Think of how many people hate him or at least kinda dislike him now compared to this time yesterday.

The NHL/Weekes screwing up the draft lottery show is exactly why the NHL can’t pull off rigging the draft lottery.

I actually gained a lot of respect for Bedard listening to his interviews before the lottery started. Sounds like a well grounded kid which is pretty great for someone who is going to be a superstar.

I wonder if in 15 years someone will make an IDO thread ‘Blackhawks End of an Era’ and we’ll all be like Hall of Famers for 30 years and only 5 cups, what a bunch of losers!

I hope he’s a complete bust. No offense to Bedard himself.

    Agree 100%

Yesterday he was my favorite player. He’s definitely been well groomed on how to do hockey guy interviews

I didn’t watch it live as I would rather do literally anything else, but the optics are so bad and the NHL and ESPN can not get out of there own way it’s comical. When they announced Anaheim the guy had the placard upside down.
Gary had to show 3 newspapers to prove it was happening that day because so many think it is rigged. jester

The chances of him being a complete bust are almost zero.

I still have my doubts on him being a generational NHL player, I think he can be a top line player, but fringe all-star at best imo..he’s an average skater (great edge work but lacks any separation speed) with a small body frame, yes his hands & shot are absolutely elite, but he’s going to have to really work to get open and fight through checks to get shots off, He could be lethal on the PP though…It will also be interesting to see what UFA’s Chicago can get to put some talent around him the next few years, I think they have like $40 million in capspace next year…their prospect pool will likely be good with all the 1st & 2nd round picks they have aquired, but they are likely 3-5 years away from playing in the NHL…

I mean Tyler Johnson & Jason Dickinson don’t instill alot of confidence on your 1st line…Reichel looks like a good young player though…

I swear they said one of the lottery teams had 3 first round picks in this years draft, but I cannot seem to figure out how it is. Thought it was Anaheim or CBJ.

It’s the Blues from ROR and Tank. Nashville, Chicago, and AZ have a ton of picks too. The first round is basically all central division teams so that’s nice.

Dangit! They are going to get a load of players this year. I see that Nashville has 13 draft picks. Holy smokes!

    Joe wtf man come on…

Just too many unknowns for me to just annoint him the next McDavid…I said top 3 forward on any team and allstar player every now & then…Now his projection would likely get to the next level IF Chicago drafts other good players & signs UFA’s to play around him, but those are unknowns at present…I compare him to Jack Hughes except Bedard has the elite shot and Hughes has the elite speed…I watch Hughes alot and his speed is what saves his a$$ most of the time from not getting outmatched phycially, guys just can’t catch him…Bedard is shifty, but he wont pull away from defenders…

I believe Nashville has every single one of Tampa’s picks for the next 3 years.

I get that Bedard might not live up to Crosby/Ovi/McDavid but there’s a hell of a gap between generational and fringe all-star or top-3 forward. That is Kevin Fiala.

Can you post Alexis LaFreniere’s scouting profile for us?

Its hard to put that kind of pressure on a 17 year old, but I have seen enough tape on him to think he will live up to the hype. With his shot, its absolutely lethal. I think his skating will improve too when getting into their program. It just sucks that he is going to that trash franchise.

So who do you compare him to right now?

and maybe I used the wrong wording with “Fringe” allstar, if Chicago doesn’t get any other elite talent then he’ll likely represent them evey year…

If this is your thoughts on Bedard I am really really worried about Rossi now.
He will be lucky to even make it to the NHL then….

True, but we need some of those prospects to start making strides in the AHL at least.

Don’t forget this is the best draft of all time even though the top pick may be a fringe all star. So we should have no problem getting our 1C of the future (Sarcasm again captain)

Did you say that about Crosby and Ovi when their teams were both bottom 5 their rookie seasons? The #1 pick goes to bad teams, that’s kinda how it works. Chicago isn’t going to be bad on purpose forever.

yeah, i’m worried too… smaller framed guys typically need an unstoppable motor/drive to succeed in the NHL, sofar Rossi has shown none of that in the 19 or so games he’s played…and again, my argument with how the Wild have handled Rossi was all about just NEVER giving him a look with our skilled players (besides Boldy who didn’t do much of anything with/without Rossi the 1st half of last season) so save the “You Flipped on Rossi” comments…
