and is Deano going to make ANY changes to our powerplay strategy or are we going to keep wasting opportunity after opportunity…

They look completely clueless on what they want to do…There were a couple of times Kirill never even touched the puck..we got the 6-4 PPG at the end to help the stats, but its just a mess.

Yes, Dallas has a great PK, but somebody is open at all times on the PP and we cant ever find them…

Refs have been complained about since the beginning of sports. They’re always going to miss calls, sometimes it helps your team and sometimes it hurts. Media loves to talk about them and it always feels like they’re getting worse and they’re out to get your team.

I have no problem with Moose’s play. In order to be effective that needs to be his game. Two terrible calls on him. Reavo can’t keep up with pace of play in the playoffs so he isn’t going to be that guy. ( yeah yeah I’m not Reaves guy but he really slows the energy speed of that line) Miss shaws speed on that line in the playoffs as an option. Sorry but it’s true. Probably would like him on the pk as well.
KK needs to bury in the first on the break away. Moose could have too in the first period. Plenty of opportunities with odd man rushes specially early on. Series is super tight. Game 5 is a big one but think it is going 7.
Captain is leading the team in blocked shots. Just sayin.
KK lack if scoring has nothing to do with his injury or skating. He was Skating just fine but was giving the puck up to much vs just trying to be a beast and score.
Bummer there only game early enough for kids they couldn’t pull it off. Lots of young fans there tonight. Pretty sure my 6 year old is going to drop Suter Sucks at school tomorrow.

First time I had a chance to watch an entire game this series.

As others have already stated, Minnesota had their chances to score first in that game. Three 2 on 1’s and 3 breakaways, all stoned by Oettinger. They said during the pre-game that he was like 17-1-3 after a loss this season or something.

Looks like Tuesday is a 7pm central time zone start. Thank the lord.

All my thoughts were already stated. Glad to see we were in it and competitive although the energy just wasn’t there in the 3rd period until we pulled Gus. Powerplay was embarrassing and PK just as bad – but the fact that we were even on the PK for those two goals was ridiculous. In all fairness, that late trip on Dallas against Zuccarello was also a garbage call and it let us pull within 1.

Can’t stand the Stars but happy for Oettinger, watched his post-game interview and he seems like a really soft-spoken and humble kid. If Dallas moves on, I’ll be routing for him, not them.

As bad as the refs were for us there were pretty bad for Dallas too. There were two bad calls that went our way too. Our PP was so terrible we couldn’t take advantage.

Going into the series, we expected Ottinger to steal a game, he just did, but at least it wasn’t a shutout, we’ve had success scoring on him all series, so the Wild just needs to do more of what makes them successful, be physical and stay out of the box. I expect the Wild to really bring it to Dallas on tuesday.

The PK was expected to struggle a little bit as Dallas has a top 5 Powerplay, they got a flukey goal kicked in and a bad decision by Jojo to go pick up his stick leaving his guy Seguin alone in the top of the slot, Gus had no chance.. Our Powerplay has been terrible and the coaches NEED to make some changes to it for next game…You gotta think Kirill and/or Boldy are ticking timebombs in terms of scoring goals, lets hope that starts tomorrow night…

Look around the league, lots of series likely to go 6 or 7 games…

213 pages in and I’ll finally make a comment. I agree with a lot of what’s been said about yesterday’s game. I thought they did what they needed to, but the bounces just didn’t go their way. It sure is nice, for once, to have the Wild known for their smashmouth style of play. That hasn’t happened before. If before the series we were told it would be tied at 2, I think most of us would’ve been happy with that. Lastly, if they can make it out of this series, I think they can play with anybody in the league. Just need some key guys to bust loose!

Jojo taking the puck 1 on 4 to enter the zone on the PP has worked about 10% of the time, and yet they keep doing it. Not sure why they keep banging their head against the wall instead of him offloading to someone on the wing on the blue line to enter the zone?!?

yeah, the PP in general is a cluster F right now and that goes with the zone entry, my personal favorite last night was Klingberg basically skating it upto the offensive blueline with a clear entry into the zone but then passing it back to almost our goal line for Jojo to skate it back up again, Klingberg should just be taking what the defense gives him, if he can skate it in, just do it…

This is something Deano and staff MUST address by tomorrow night…we can’t keep going 0 for on the powerplay (yes I know we scored on a 6-4 last night)

The series is over now I am afraid. The Wild needed to go up 3-1 and failed. I said it going into the game and now after I feel the same. Yeah they are still in it, but I just dont see them pulling it off which sucks.

Musky pulls a Debbie Downer?!? I think they win the next 2…that was Ottinger’s moment of the series, I think our offense (mainly Kaprizov and Boly) bursts through the next 2 games…we’ll see…

Different team/different players, I’ll be dissapointed if Deano and Staff don’t make any PP changes though…

They’ve outplayed Dallas most of the series, they just need to stay out of the friggin penalty box..

definitely need something from KK or Boldy. They’ve been quiet although KK’s best game of the series was definitely last night, so he’s trending in the right direction

I wouldn’t necessarily say that. Although I haven’t watched the entire series from beginning to end, I would say each team had a dominant game and each team has a close game. Dallas was better in game 1 and lost, while Minnesota was better last night and lost.

They better not stick Fleury back in there tomorrow though.

Didn’t think they could get to you, this one hurts

Wild have been so much better 5v5, even Deboer knows it. Just look at how they started the game yesterday forechecking with 4 guys and giving up countless odd-man rushes. That wasn’t mental mistakes that was just how the Stars were playing – they know they have to completely sell out to score 5v5 and are relying on the goalie to keep them in it. Last night he did.

It’s a great series 2 good teams, let’s enjoy the ride. Kaprizov Boldy combined shooting percentage 3.3% they are beyond due.

Going to see Black Aces called up today, starting with Wallstedt this morning

Most of the penalties last night were not even friggen penalties that is what is so irritating. Neither of Folignos penalties were a penalty. He gets a trip for checking a guy right after he passes the puck. Maybe interference, but a trip? The one behind the net he gets highsticked to the face and gets a penalty for hitting the dude? Come on.

I know, they played well last night just didnt capitalize on their chances. They played good hockey 3 of 4 games so maybe they can pull it off. Are the next 2 on the road or do they do 1 and 1? I forget.

I would argue that both of the penalties called on Dallas in the third period were questionable too though. “Make up” calls if you will. So it goes both ways.

The difference is that one team is able to capitalize and the other is not. The Stars have better special teams. They were 2nd overall in the league in combined special teams during the season, and that stat is bearing out thus far in this series now too.

Make-up calls for sure but when the refs get whistle happy to meet their penalty quota that kills the Wild. The special teams disparity and 5v5 play disparity is massive in this series. A true make-up call would be putting the whistle away for the next game.

Our Powerplay is atrocious to say the least. I know Dallas is good on the kill but every time we go on the powerplay I find my rage coming out

The Wild can beat Dallas if, and this is a big if, they change.
I don’t know if the coaching staff is up to it or if the players can follow through.
#1. Gus has to play, no Fleury.
#2. They need to figure out this power play. What they are doing doesn’t work, it has to change.
There is no actual plan to manipulate the defense into a position of weakness. It’s just a free for all hope for the best.
#3. They need to shoot on Otter like last night, but with someone ready for the rebound.
Ottinger was giving up huge rebounds when shot at from the left side closer to the top of the faceoff circle. The rebounds popped out to the hash marks on the right side.
He did that the whole game. Shots from closer to the center got swallowed up.
#4. They need to have the hot hand taking faceoffs when they are critical. Last night with the game on the line, they had their coldest hand taking the draw against Dallas’s best. Gaudreau was 29% Steel was 67%, Steel was on the bench and Gaudreau lost 3 in a row with time running out.
If the Wild don’t change they will lose and it will be on the coaching staff.

Agree, seen this movie before. It’s way to familiar. Chance to put a strangle hold on the series. Opportunity after opportunity and just can’t finish. It’s not a Debbie downer deal, it’s a history has repeated itself far to consistently. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Will keep beating this drum and will die on this hill, if Boldy and KK don’t show up on the stats sheet with goals, they loose this series. Disagree, look at the stat sheet. Doesn’t matter how hard they are playing. To win a game you have to put the puck in the net. You score, you win. You don’t, you loose and compliment their goalie. Between the two they have 4 games each and 1 goal. Not good enough just cause they are seemingly playing hard. Both have had opportunities and failed to finish. Ottenger has been good, but he’s beatable. The hot goalie conversation is a tired, old excuse.

Ref’s have been bad for both sides. If anything through the series we have probably benefited more than not from the ref’s. Yeah, it’s frustrating, but no chance they are ruining the series for us. We are ruining it for ourselves with an absolutely horrible pk and pp.

Steel vs Sundqvist, dumb. Steel has zero net presence. We desperately need a net front presence in front of Ottenger. Damnation I miss Ek! Pull Reaves and put in Sundqvist.

Whomever scores more goals wins this series. Sounds obvious and dumb. But if we can’t score like last night, we loose. That falls squarely on your leading 2 scorer’s. Between them through 4 games, 1 goal off a deflection on a pp. Not good enough, don’t care how hard they are playing or who the goalie is. They’ve absolutely had grade A scoring chances and done nothing to capitalize on them. Again, look at the stat sheet. Other players have had less opportunities and are ahead of both of them in goals with less ice time or chances. Looking at the numbers if they loose game 5, Boldy and KK should have their ice time severely limited if they aren’t producing and others are. Don’t like it, don’t care what names on the back of the sweater, the stats don’t lie. And don’t care how hard the defense is playing against them. Both have had enough opportunities. Both have had enough ice time. Both have coughed up pucks or passed to absolutely nobody. Both have looked very unimpressive when it mattered and it shows on the stat sheet. Doesn’t mean I don’t want them on the team or dislike them. Just like Flower. Still like him and he’s been a good backup this year, zero doubt about that. But Gus is just playing better. Same with KK and Boldy. If they aren’t producing, which they aren’t, let the guys that are have more ice time. Especially on the power play. Yeah they can start the pp, but the pp has been brutal with the first line.

Amazing how anyone else besides Boldy and KK make a mistake and they get scorched. KK and Boldy have made numerous mistakes game in and game out, it’s crickets and other players take the blame. Sometimes it’s well deserved on other players. But so are the mistakes and poor execution on puck control on the 2 leading scorer’s. The sloppy, terrible passes to empty ice is redonkulous from both players. Love them both but that crap has gotta get cleaned up by both of them. It’s on them alone. Not the other team, goalie or insert excuses here.

Hopefully they got their slump games out of the way and can torch it up the rest of the series. Hartman and Zuccy have had some good games and Hartman is not close to 100% and having to fight for everything he’s put up on the stat sheet. Zuccy is on the stat sheet and not had a great series. Defending KK and Boldy and saying they are having a good series just doesn’t hold any statistical water. Yep, there’s stuff that doesn’t show up on the stats sheets. But games aren’t won or lost by anything other than goals on the score board. Pretty simple, to win this series they absolutely need to show up in some capacity that shows up on the stat sheet in goals/assists. If both are way down that sheet, we don’t win another game no matter what the rest of the team does. There’s been enough scoring from the non scoring leaders to give the team a chance. Gus was good enough to win last night. That loss isn’t on Gus at all. If they loose the series it won’t be goaltending. It’ll be scoring ineptness by our top 2 star goal scorer’s. Again, 1 goal between your scoring leaders through 4 games, not good enough to win this series. Has zero to do with how hard they are playing. Has to do with capitalizing on opportunities. Nothing personal, just factual and historically repetitive in the post season for the wild.

The series is tied 2-2, Dallas (the higher seed) has had just as many issues in their games as well (they can’t score 5-5) One of the best goalies in the league stole a game, you could say Gus did the same thing for us in game 1…

Pretty much everyone in the hockey world/this thread predicted this series going 6 or 7 games, we’re right on track for that now, to expect a 4 or 5 game series with two pretty even teams wasn’t going to happen.

It’s now a 3 game series, obviously tomorrow nights game is critical, but it’s not going to end the series either way…Let’s see if the Wild players previous year playoff experiances come into play and they can elevate their game when the pressure rises…

After tonight’s games it’s likely that at least half if not more of the Playoff series will be tied up 2-2…
