I think all of Canada is losing their mind over the high sticking fiasco. Obvious call that should have been overturned, I have no idea how they screwed that up with review.
That said I’m glad glad the goal stood. That review was some ticky tack BS, just like most offside reviews, and had virtually no effect on the play

Thank you
I’m sure the team with 37 face off wins won

I had no idea that was even a reviewable play…
Well there’s so many things that we did well last night that I hope the Wild can remember them all.
Totally agree with the others I can’t believe that the refs actually overturned the on ice call on that Foligno goal. That’s the kind of thing that never seems to go the wild’s way in the playoffs or anytime it matters.
The deadline acquisitions that GMBG made this year are so far and away the best the team has ever made that it’s hard to believe.
JEEK. WTAF? I’m dying to know what happened.
Johansson. Who even is this guy? What did he do with that other Johansson?
Zuc. Thank heaven.
Gus Nyquist. Wow.
Just a complete game. Great atmosphere. Everything you could want.
Read a stat somewhere that mentioned GMBG’s trade deadline acquisitions were involved in like 65% of all scoring in the playoffs… that Nyquist trade man….
Kirill is overdue to explode offensively, next game would sure be nice…
Just an awesome game to attend last night. Not sure if I’ve heard the X that loud before or how loud they booed Suter. Couple times it was defining how loud we booed him and loved it. They looked like a complete different team and if Reaves scored I think the place would of blown the roof off.
Hopefully Ek isn’t out the rest of the playoffs but for him to skate off from non contact doesn’t look good.
Why is everyone so stumped on Ek? He clearly wasn’t 100%, thought he was good enough to play through it, played one shift at actual game speed and realized it wasnt. I don’t think there’s a new injury. I think he just wasn’t healed enough.
Evason when asked what he’s liked about Faber’s game in the playoffs: “Everything. You don’t play two games in the NHL and go right into the playoffs and play like that. He is great defensively but even more mentally.”
I think they like him. I don’t know how you couldn’t.
My guess with Ek is that he likely had a hairline fracture in his lower leg that could heal on its own without surgery and he somehow undid all the healing that took place over the past few weeks in 15 seconds and he’s back to day 1 for rehab…

it was literally his 1st push off after the opening faceoff, he most likely skated much harder by himself in the morning skate, game speed had nothing to do with it, just a freak re-injury… just sucks as he’s likely back to day 1 of rehab again…

That’s ridiculous. Game speed especially in the playoffs is going to be different than skating by yourself for two weeks. Not to mention taking different angles and cuts. Freak re injury after probably fracturing a bone two weeks later is not a freak re-injury. It’s rushing back before you’re ready. I’m not saying I wasn’t happy he was trying but obviously it wasn’t ready.

watch the video, it was just a normal skate stride attempt, he wasn’t chasing someone or rushing back into the zone… I guarantee you he skated way harder when he jumped on the ice for warmups or before the anthem…
Its his first crossover push 2-3 seconds into the game….

Ek has a 3-5 week injury and tried to play in 2 – noting freak about it he just wasn’t ready. Skating “hard” in practice is like 95% and cant mimic game speed. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug.
I went through the same crap with an ankle. Could skate all week pain free then come Friday night tweak it 1st period at game speed and barely walk.
I kinda agree on JEEK it didn’t seem normal. Guessing it’s a major setback.
Loved the game last night but let’s see if they are different from years past. Step on throats Sunday and I will be all in.
I agree about game speed being different, but that would have happened further into the game….Watch the video…. What about those first 2-3 seconds screams game speed to you?
The skating coach and staff aren’t going to let him just coast through rehab… he was likely skated Much harder then vs what he did in the first few strides after the opening faceoff…
It’s also possible that his mind was thinking about the game vs his injury for the first time in weeks and dropping his guard relaxed a muscle and re-injury occurred…

yeah, we all agree, don’t let them back into the series…

This is exactly what I’m talking about. In practice you can guard the injury. Once the game starts and your mind stops thinking about the injury and is all game, it better be good or you’re in trouble. You see it with hamstrings and ankles all the time. Hopefully he didn’t hurt it worse, and it’s just a setback.
Seen plenty of videos of EK skating with Andy and he was pushing it real hard and doing way more than what he did last night.
Setback for sure. Boldy probably played his best game of the playoffs and he was playing center. I say keep him there.

It’s not about how hard he was pushing. That’s the thing. In practice you are thinking about that injury, making sure you don’t do anything to make it worse. Once the game starts your mind goes full game mode and you stop guarding it. I’m no skating expert, far from it. But I’ve played sports at fairly high levels and I have come back from injuries too soon and thought I was good because I felt great in practice only to re-injure myself the first few steps I took in a game full speed. I just don’t think it was ready. Obviously. They are lucky they played such a great game down a forward for the whole game.
By the way, Klingberg was the biggest key to the game last night to me. The offense ran through him all night long. He was fantastic on both sides of the ice and looked like Klingberg from 7 years ago.
What an awesome game to be at, crowd was absolutely amazing after the Foligno goal got overturned.
Stars didn’t look great, they only had a few shifts that they really had controlled, sustained pressure in our zone. Seemed like about once per period, while the wild looked like they could have scored another 3 goals pretty easily.
Gus was super solid, but the D really kept things simple for him. There may be something to the thought that they play differently in front of Gus vs flower. Either way, he did a great job with the shots he faced, rebounds almost all seemed to be deflected quickly into the corner.
Johansson is a beast, that dude was just flying around the ice. His goal was an absolute beaut, and I think he hit a pipe too if I remember.
Best possible outcome of that game though, a dominant performance where we also made it clear that we are the more physically imposing team, and made it clear to everyone that they have been diving/weak on their skates all series. Middleton mocking them in front of our goal was absolutely hilarious in person.
Only complain I have is the penalties against the wild seemed reallly weak, you guys would have to confirm, but they seemed super lame. The first holding call the dude like very obviously spun around and fell into Middleton or whoever backwards.
Also, can someone explain the embellishment call on Foligno? I thought that was basically a ‘diving’ penalty? Is it normal for someone to get a penalty for cross checking AND the dude who got cross checked to get a penalty for embellishment?

All it took was a 20 year old to cover up his warts. I think Klinger is a playoff gamer too, the guy fought matt Tkachuk last year in playoffs!
Completely agree with you on Ek

He really looked fantastic and boys that has to be a record. 6 pages in a little over a day!Jojo what a game
So how do all think Fleury will bounce back in Game 4?
if Fleury starts we riot.
