Ekker not playing tonight, this is why I was surprised they just didn’t keep him home…

Think they just brought him down to cause smoke in what lineups they roll out?

Hartman had a charlie horse they said last game?

Walker would be top-6 winger insurance. Couple guys there with some bruised ribs for sure. If Hartman is questionable they are pretty thin on centers. Think Sundqvist can play center if needed.

Ek traveling but not playing is perplexing to me. Resting at home instead of a hotel and skating with Andy Ness is a lot more important than bluffing their lineup. He has to be close to playing just not quite there.

Havent heard anything on him lately.

He was skating with Ek on Monday, he’s close…They have Nyquist who could easily slot into a top6 role…

If only we had somebody willing to put the hurt on Suter to keep his crosscheck bs in check….

The problem is that after the officials went deaf, dumb, and blind in G1, now they will be watching Suter like a hawk for any signs that the Wild retaliate.

That first crosscheck on KK by Suter was right in front a referree. Some asked how he missed it, but you can see on the video that he didn’t miss it, he just didn’t call it.

Unfortunately, that won’t happen if the Wild target Suter. Suter had better hope that the Wild don’t get up or down by 3 because he’s going to pay the price then.

I’m still shocked and stunned that the officials actually got the Dumba call correct. For once. AND they made the correct call on the retaliation, which almost never happens. In the past this was exactly the kind of call the Wild would have gotten screwed on.

And yet they still can’t call an instigator penalty. Go figure. It’s like one of those hypnotists shows where the hypnotist makes somebody forget their own name. They just cannot figure out how to call the instigator penalty even though it’s as clear-cut as any rule in the league, they just can’t do it.

    Faber. Wow.

The awesome thing this year is the Wild are no longer a team that can be just dominated physically. Setting aside cheap crosschecks in the back, we’re giving out as much as we’re taking or more and it’s not going to be a strategy to just beat us into a pulp as teams did in past playoffs.

I just have a feeling that Game 2 is really Game 7. If the Wild can figure out a way to win tonight, they can take this series, but let the Stars up off the matt and that would give me a bad feeling that I’ve seen this movie before… Putting Dallas in a must-win situation coming into MN would be exactly where we want them where letting them turn this into a best of 5 series, I can see that going bad for us really easily.

I too agree that the Wild going up 2-0 in the series would be exactly what the Wild want to do.

But I will go one further, if the Wild can go up 3-0 in this series, I’d argue that that’s almost the best possible outcome after the first three games. Going up 2-1 after three would still be pretty decent, but in my opinion going up 3-0 puts you in a better spot overall for the 7 game series.

How about 1-1 or 3-1? Any thoughts on 4-0?

Isn’t it always the goal to go up 2-0 or 3-0? Doesn’t seem like anything unique.

Do you really think it matters if Ek is at home or on the road at this stage? I’m sure he is getting rehab on the road too. Maybe he wanted to be with the team?

Definitely taking games early on the road help, but you still have to win your home games. Going up 2-0 would be huge, but 1-1 isnt bad either. Werent they up 2-1 on the Blues last year only to choke it away?

I’ve always heard there isn’t a problem until you lose on home ice. If that’s the case, the Stars are in trouble already.

Even if Dallas wins tonight, Minnesota splitting there the first two would be an accomplishment.

I was about to post that. St Louis went up 1-0 and then Minnesota responded with 2 wins.

Russo says Sundqvist in and either Jojo or Freddy is out.

Deano had some weird comments on Ek saying “everyone is available”

I’m thinking mostly of the facilities and rehab equipment differences, I don’t know the NHL protocols around if the Wild are allowed to use the Stars rehab facilities and machines (zero weight pool, muscle stim equipment, etc)

also we don’t knwo what the plan was, one theory was if the Wild lost game 1, Ek would have played game 2…

I dont know why he keeps saying that everyone knows Ek is likely out.

likely Jojo is banged up…I think Deano just meant IF they had to, Ek could play, but if he’s not needed to fill a lineup, he gets 1 more game off…

Did you listen to it? He didn’t mean anything he was just weird and awkward about it to be coy.

I think being at home makes a huge difference in recovery. Sleep and nutrition are so important and that’s a lot easier to do at home than traveling. Rehab facilities make a difference as well. There’s a reason injured players usually don’t travel

Wait i thought it was Hartman lol

This time of year good luck getting any good info from coaches and players, it’s all speculation until the puck is dropped…Media made it sound like Hartman played the last period Monday night on one leg and Jojo looked like he was hurt after every shift…

If it’s JoJo I hope he’s not out too long, he’s been an absolute spark for that 2nd line. I feel like a lot of our best chances towards the end of the game and OT included him.

    This made me laugh.
Russo commented that Freddy was banged and laboring pretty good.

Hell after watching some Game 1’s I don’t know how these guys survive a series.

I think it’s gotten alot worse over the years with bigger/faster players (more violent collisions) and the emphasis that EVERYONE needs to block every shot taken…the days of the shot block specialist are over (Craig Ludwig)

Be fascinating to see how the game unfolds tonight. Dallas could come out guns blazing or the wild could. First team to worry to much about retribution to much vs playing hockey might be to focused on that and start making huge mental mistakes. No way the ref’s let them play, should be a tightly called game. If not, could be a blood bath.

Dallas will come out with crazy energy, they are absolutely desparate, Teams going down 0-2 in a series typically lose it, the numbers are pretty staggering…Wild just need to survive the first 5 minutes and not add to Dallas’s energy… Deano should start the 4th line…I don’t think the Wild will get caught up in any shinanigans Dallas might try…

Lou Nanne was on Barreiro yesterday saying he didn’t think there would be a ton of retribution, and thought it’d be a pretty clean game, as both teams are looking big picture and the importance of winning.

Have they announced starting line ups for tonight? I saw some projections, but that included Hartman and Johansson

No updates from the Wild after their 3.00 “projection”.

The projection says Gustavsson in goal. Interesting after a 2 OT game.

The goalie situation is interesting. Me? I’d roll the entire way with Gus only take him out if he struggles and we need a spark.
