Are there still inside covid limitations in Canada? There’s hardly any fans in the stands for a Canada game….
Um didn’t they pack the house for NHL playoffs?

yeah and they go even crazier for the WJC tourney, that’s why I was asking, it makes no sense…there was probably 3,000 fans at Canada’s opening game last night…
it will be intersting to see what Dallas does with RFA’s Jason Robertson and Jake Oettinger. Do they go max term deals to “lock them in” or risk a bridge deal that basically walks them closer to free agency and ends when the cap is expected to start rising considerably?
Another LTIR for Vegas?

The whole Max trade was kind of weird too. Anyone here how hurt his Achilles.

I haven’t, but I believe all trades are contingent on the players passing a physical first? That way you cant trade a known injured player to a team thats not aware of the injury… but its Vegas so all logic is out the door…but a torn achilles is not an injury you would wait any time to get operated on, so he likely injured it while recently training…

Robertson SHOULD be worth $8.5 mil+ AAV, if not more, on a long term deal on the open market. Kid is a certified stud, and was a 40 goal scorer at 22 years old. If Dallas is smart, they lock him up ASAP.
As far as Oettinger goes, he should probably fetch somewhere around 4.5-7 million. It’s tough for anyone to make a call, as he had such a small sample size. He had an above average regular season, but turned into a literal monster in his one round of the ploffs. That’s not something you often see unsigned.
Completely agree. Robo contract should be easy, he’s done nothing but produce every game he’s played in the NHL – he’s a stud. I’m hoping after the season the Boldy comparable is a lot closer to Robertson than it is to freakin Martin Necas.
You hit the nail on the head with Otter, he’s been pretty average over his full career. Good, not great – pretty much on par for a talented but still developing goalie. And then he went and had one of the greatest single playoff series in modern history. Good luck agreeing on a value there – assume it’s gotta be a shortish bridge deal.
Vegas has their cap circumvention in place for this year with Lehner having hip surgery.
These guys think they are in a video game! Good Lord Bedard.

They also dont have a proven goalie on their roster and the FA goalie selection is slim pickings now. The rumor is they’ll trade with San Jose for one of their backups…
Wallstedt falling on the sword for Sweden saying he let his team down, when he has nothing to hang his head about. 38 saves on 41 shots with 2 goals on rebounds his D left him hanging on? Sheesh. He needs to just pack his bags and fly to Iowa embarrassing effort by his team.
WJC Tourney Week 1 MN Wild Prospect Review:
Wallstedt – he’s let in a few soft front of the net jam goals (Sweden’s D is super soft in front of the net) but he’s as good as advertised, smooth and calm.
Faber – he’s as good as advertised, just don’t expect alot of offense out of him or he’s been holding back to cover for Hughes rushing up the puck every chance he gets? (perhaps he adds that part to his game over time like Brodin has) He’ll for sure sign with the Wild when the Gophers season is done…
Peart – he’s looked pretty good (outside of the game 1 blunder that led to a breakway) He’s been most impressive quarterbacking the USA #2 Powerplay unit. He’ll be one of the USA defensive leaders next WJC.
Lambos – has been a huge dissapointment sofar, benched after Canada’s 1st game
O’Rourke – I haven’t noticed him at all during the Canada games…
Ohgren – He’s had flashes, but you can tell he’s one of the younger players out there, good learning experiance for him, I expect him to be a top player in next years WJC tourney…
Petrovsky – One of the best players for Slovakia, could be a 6th round steal if he continues to improve and develop.
Spacek – Typical stay home defenseman, not sure he has a NHL future but will be a steady AHL defenseman…

well said!
WTF – when did the blue line become racist? Seriously had no clue.

This thing blew up here at work. The Wild used our logo without permission. Ugg!
-J.
WTF – when did the blue line become racist?
Yeah, that was a blunder possibly to use that without permission, but I had no idea it was racist or considered white supremacy either. I suppose everything offends someone these days. Sheesh. The whole thin blue line was coined way back in the 1950’s so its not like it was just concocted.
Ohgren – He’s had flashes, but you can tell he’s one of the younger players out there, good learning experiance for him, I expect him to be a top player in next years WJC tourney…
Speaking of Ohgren, I havent finished watching the game from last night, but I guess he threw a big hit on Faber. Prospect on prospect crime!

He also tripped Faber in the offensive zone and the US scored on the resulting Powerplay.
almost 2 full days with out a post, some of you get a time out for the blue line thing?
not much really happening other than the WJC, the quarterfinals start back up today…
Yeah there isn’t much going on. Wish the USA games didn’t start so late. It’s like wild playoff games all over again.
I really hoped Logan Stankhoven would have slipped to the Wild in the 2nd round last year, all the kid does is score goals…

Nah..We talk actual hockey here…
Nice to know there are some folks out there that worry about us hockey rubes when we don’t post for 2 days though.
Like Joe said slow time except for WJ. Hard to judge some of these guys when they play Swiss and Austria. Looking forward to the next round though. I see Lambos got back in today but didn’t see much of the game.
Uh oh US.😬 CZE playing incredible defensive game.
Oh Berard with a dirty slew foot.
Another major this time by CZE.
Wow!
and just like that, the defending champs are out!!!!
I was impressed by Faber in the tourney, his game is like a Brodin clone minus the ultra elite skating, he’s still an elite skater though, he’ll likely be a Wild top 4 guy for years to come.
Peart looked good most of the time on the ice and has a future running a powerplay. This will be a huge development year for him at SCSU if he wants to get to the next level and be an impact player.
Spacek is a steady stay at home defenseman, there’s alot of his game that looks like Middleton.
Now we can focus on Jesper getting past Finland and seeing if he can shutdown Canada.
WJC is becoming alot more competitive as the smaller countries are closing the gap a bit year after year…
The Sammy Walker signing is nice low risk move… adds some center depth in Iowa…
I’m really looking forward to the WJC tourney being be over so I can cancel my NHL Netowrk subscription… If I see that Funeral expenses commercial one more time i’m gonna snap… pretty embarrasing the types of advertisers the NHL sells commercial time to…

IT’S EVERY SINGLE COMMERCIAL BREAK. SOMETIMES TWICE!
