The playoffs are a different game. Way more physical. And the Wild have bowed out early time after time because they got bullied out of the rink. So personally I’m delighted to see somebody on this team play a little smash mouth hockey during the playoffs.

I’ve only had 2 issues with Dumba (I think most Wild fans are the same)

    1) He commits way too many sloppy/mental turnovers…
    2) His 5 year deal caphit never matched his production

The first one he can fix, and I’ll admit the last month of the season he’s been a lot better, but you must admit the first 4 months of the season he was a turnover nightmare…same goes for the previous 3+ seasons

The second point came into play the second he decided to fight Mathew Tkachuck 4 years ago now? Obviously this isn’t something that he/we can change (thank god for him it was in year 1 of a 5 year guaranteed contract), but it changed the trajectory of his career and made him virtually untradeable for 2 years with that caphit vs production in a covid salary cap period…

lastly there was the decision to protect him in the Vegas expansion draft costing the Wild Alex Tuch, absolutely nothing on Dumba to blame for this, but the Wild are reminded of it every time we played against Vegas/Buffalo and it still stings and unfortunatly a big portion of the fanbase won’t let go of it…

Leafs vs Bolts about to start, the yearly minicup finals…. The best part of this series is the utter fear on the Leads fans faces every time Tampa scores a goal…

Joe thanks for posting that Reaves hit on Suter. I had forgotten about that one and it made my day.

I also don’t miss the 70 mph pp killing wristers he was known for.

    OMG Leaf Nation….

What a stupid challenge too, I thought I read Kyle Dubas’s lips to call down to the coaches and challenge it too…

As bad as Toronto fans may feel, it’s not as bad as it would be if Montreal was winning more Cups. jester

Damn! Jets player gets cut on the face by a skate blade and gets SEVENTY FIVE stitches in the trainers room and comes back into the game 20 minutes later!

That’s a career ender for a MLB player… hockey players are just different….

Yeah that was pretty lucky it was just above his eye. Could have been real bad. I mean worse than 75 stitches bad.

I guess we now know why there wasn’t an Avs in 3 option… )

Wow that is a lot of stitches.

I’m always amazed that there aren’t more cuts and slices during the game of hockey. Everyone is flying around at high speed with heavy gauge razor blades on their feet. Its astonishing that injuries like this don’t happen more often.

It’s the upset of the century. My bracket will never recover from this!

Was it playing in Colorado that made Grubauer remember how to stop pucks again?

How many years until everyone is wearing bird cages or full shields?? By 2050?

IDK if the NHL will ever go to full shields. I guess I cant say never, but I would be surprised.

I agree! Mac is not going to go down after the heartbreak a few years ago. Remember that Avs reporter’s question to him? LOL that was classic.

I play in a weekly men’s league and face masks are optional. Helmets are required, but virtually everyone also wears some kind of face mask. One guy does not. Every time I see him flying around out there without anything on his face I just wonder how long it is until he loses his teeth. My wife would literally divorce me if she knew I was out there playing hockey without any kind of facial protection.

I’ve seen way too many cuts to the face, smashed out teeth in mens hockey in my time to never play without a full birdcage again…sure i’ll take some crap about wearing it, but i’m also never driving to the emergency room for some stupid hour of shinny hockey…

I think they will eventually mandate full face protection, but it will take many years of mandating it in junior hockey first and then mandate it for new NHL players like they did with half shields, exisitng players will be grandfathered in…I do know the NHL will soon mandate cutproof undershirts and socks due to arm lacerations and achilles cuts…I purchased a Bauer undershirt with the carbon fiber cutproof neck guard for my 6 year old right after a teammate skated back to the bench during a Mite game with a 4″ skate scrape across his juggular, had that cut gone a fraction deeper we would have had an absolutely terrible situation on the ice..

Perhaps (sadly) it will take a death on the ice to more quickly mandate it in the NHL…

It’s honestly a miracle there aren’t more face cuts with skate blades, all the times you see replays in slow motion and the number of close calls for terrible cuts is amazing…

I don’t think that’s the real cup? They screwed up Adam Deadmarsh’s last name in the 95/96 section, they originally spelled it “Deadmarch” and the fix afterwards looked terrible…This simulator doesn’t show the ugly fix? Unless they redid the entire ring? (thinking that’s what they did)

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Cup#Engraving_errors

I think it’s both tacky and yet cool that the same guy did most of the engraving for generations before handing it off to another guy, I wonder if they drank while on the job sometimes looking at some of the silly spelling errors…look at Joe Sakic’s name…

An article in the Fort Worth Star Telegram talking about how Dallas needs “Justice” against Dumba for dirty hit on Pavelski. Wonder how that will shake out tonight if Dallas will be looking for revenge.

Also plenty of commentary last night watching the other games talking about how physical Minnesota is. Quite surprising actually.

I was a peewee when face masks became mandatory in Minnesota (70’s). I’ve worn one up until this day. I may get crap from younger guys who wear nothing or a visor about my full mask (old school ProTec), but I shut them down when I say my wife will let me play 7 days of the week as long as I’m wearing a mask. Most of them can barely get away for one night a week. Sure, there are times I think about removing my mask but I’m reminded just enough to keep it on. Stitches and teeth being knocked out will do that. My favorite reminder mishap was when a judge lost a tooth on a Sunday night with a full docket the next day. Ahh, the glory of beer league…

Wooohoo we hit 200 by game 2!!

Ekker not playing tonight, this is why I was surprised they just didn’t keep him home…he’ll likely make his debut in game 3 Friday night… Sammy Walker called up from Iowa, this makes me think maybe Hartman is a game time decision tonight??? Sucks for Iowa Wild to lose thier leading scorer for their 1st playoff game tonight…
