I wonder if they’ll have Gologoski take Merrill’s spot vs Klingberg in game 2? I thought Spurgeon did just fine running the PP last night (he actually got his shots off quickly) I’d rather have a more safe/stout defenseman (like Gologoski) vs more offense but a liability with Klingberg on the 3rd pair…

Foligno got a good one on RobertsonGus just doesn’t have it tonight but he’s fighting through it and the team D is so good in front of him
This one lived long.

Yeah my ticktok is @rickspielman
No additional discipline for Dumba…
How about Domi?
Per Russo – Danila Yurov signed a 1 year deal with his KHL team….while that sucks imo, the 1 year deal seems like a set plan the Wild blessed, so the odds of him coming over with Khusnidhinov after next season seem high…
I thought Dumba had an awesome game last night, especially after the big hit he was flying around and had some good shots besides his patented slapshot into someone (not the goalies) shin pads.
Just watched the recap video holy moly did Johansson get robbed twice, but Faber saved that game what a heads up play! Kid has ice water in his veins.
Faber is amazing. Can’t believe he went straight from playing for the Gophers, to the NHL, to playoff NHL hockey in just a couple weeks.
Faber really looks great out there. We have to remember he isnt used to still be playing so this is a long season for him. I bet he wears down, but hopefully not.

I think this an over used Cliche, these guys have been playing pretty much 365 days years since they were 12. If anything the physicality could take a toll, but the kid seems have knack for rolling out of the way just in time. he was very impressive las night.
I haven’t looked at the stats, but even though everyone says the Stars were outplaying the Wild last night, I would guess quality scoring chances were in the Wild favor. The wild played a nice box out defense not giving the Stars much in the middle. Oettinger had to make more big time saves, but Gus did have one with his leg in one of the OTs, it is blur so I don’t remember which one.
Faber looked awesome, future looks bright for him for sure. Wayyyyy too early to project out for him, but he looks totally comfortable/capable out there, which makes that Fiala trade feel pretty dang amazing, especially since we knew he was on the way out. How sweet would it be to have a couple smooth-skating shut down dudes like Brodin/Faber on the blue line for the foreseeable future?
Gus really stood tall, which I was worried about because the two PP goals I thought were pretty soft.
Hope Ek gets back and we can at least minimize how many defensive zone faceoffs are absolute 100% clean wins for Dallas. Those two goals basically looked like the ref just slid the puck directly to the Dallas D, absolutely clean. Makes a big difference even if we tie up and the wingers for Dallas end up getting the puck back to their D. That extra second just makes a huge difference for being able to stop/block/take away that initial shot.
Man Dallas fans and sports writers are really fired up today.
Don’t blame them. Imagine if boldy got KOd. We’d be pissed too.
Dallas easily coulda made that game 4, 5 or 6 to 2 in the third period. We had some pretty plays that were almost goals but they had so much more momentum.
^^Too soon
Fans being mad is expected but the Dallas Athletic beat writer is fanning the Dumba villain flames with some “I’m not saying Dumba is dirty but here’s a bunch of dirty hits from him” BS

Yeah that writer is one of the worst at the Athletic. Hes right up there with Lazarus who is just flat out intolerable with his political BS he always finds a way to interject.

Agreed. And Faber played 2 seasons for the USNTDP program who have longer seasons than anyone.

Had no idea who he was until last night and now I’m realizing he is also the bozo who was pumping Robertson for the Calder when The Athletic fabricated that narrative 2 years ago.
Lazerus is a pretty good writer it’s his podcasts that make me want to rip out my ear drums.

Yes he does some fantastic work, its just the stuff outside of hockey that irritates the heck out of me.
Oh I get why they are mad but one of the newspaper writers damn near put a bounty on Dumbas head.

Yeah embarrassing for the beat writers
More Suter smoke from Russo:
The big question is will this thread make it to 6,000 reply’s before the season ends? Or will it make 7,000 if the Wild make it to the Cup finals?

I caught that too when I was reading the article this morning. I feel recently Russo has dropped more and more smoke about Suter being a locker room cancer is his articles this year.
I’m gonna have to look up the Stars articles in the athletic.

This team will miss Dumba when he is gone. I know he is the perennial whipping boy for wild fans but he was great last night was great last year in the playoffs and is one of the few D that plays physical.
That is the part that will be missed the most. IMO

Watching his replacement play big minutes and situations at just 20 years old and with only 3 games of NHL experiance is sure helping though…Faber is looking more and more like the type of defensive prospect that’s a top4 placeholder on a team for a decade+…
How about Faber’s post game remarks about his diving deflection, instead of taking any credit for a great play, instead he mentioned he should have been closer to Marchment so he didn’t need to dive… the kid is mature beyond his years and his play reflects that…
and we still have D prospects Lambos, Spacek, Peart, Masters coming up the next 2-3 years…
