I still haven’t seen how the puck popped out to Hartman?
Wild players were so tired in both OT’s, can’t believe they hung on… they showed some true grit tonight!
My 3 takes from OT…
1. Kaprizov might be hurt
2. Hartman is due
3. 900 start times are not good for work productivity on Tuesday.
Fixed it for me… let’s go
Faber already more playoff contributions than Fiala last year lol. Love that dude already.
Nice to get a fortunate bounce to win the game, need a few of those if we’re going to go deep.
Couple grade A chances for both teams in OT, but a few shifts really looked like Dallas was gonna end it after extended zone time.
Hope a two day break can heal Kaprizov a bit, he definitely looked slower out there in OT.
And how about TWO successful penalty kills in OT with probably zero face off wins on either lol.
Love Hartman and Gus kept them in it through OT.
52 saves for Gus man what a night
I’ll have to catch up with this thread tomorrow but LFG.
Didn’t look all game.
The rat
What a Game!! I couldn’t quite make it till the end, but happier than hell to see the Win!!! Couple things I liked was the speed of the game. Both teams came out flying. The first period looked like a typical first playoff game and took most the period for everything to settle down, if you want to call it that. KK97 for the tip! That was great! I also liked how well the Wild responded in the second after two quick power play goals. They didn’t let up like teams of the past. Faber is legit!! Love the kid even more. Also, no one can say it doesn’t pay to have Revo on your team. That game could have gotten out of hand very easily. Great win by the boys!! Oh, and I hope someone takes Suters head off!!! Such a F’n cheap ass!
I fell asleep at the start of second OT, so not only did I get to watch the game winner on Twitter, but my 2 year old was up at 430 am!!! #GritFirst
I don’t watch a ton of games throughout the regular season but try and tune in for the playoffs. It sure was great to see the heart they showed in this game. It sure seemed like they we outplayed in the overtime’s. Great to see them Get the win in a game it sure seemed like they were going to lose. I was both surprised and happy to see Gus Get the start in goal. I think he played a hell of a game and was a big reason for a tough win. Hope they can keep it rolling.
Gus really played well in the second half of the game after giving up two kind of soft goals that he stops most of the time. Do you guys think they will give him the nod in game 2? I’d hope so – let him get some momentum.
I hope someone kicks Suters @$$. He loves targeting kirill
Let’s hear it for the Gus Bus! Outstanding goalie play on both sides. Wild penalty kill was embarrassing for those first two Dallas goals, but they were their only goals. Gus made some elite saves and kept us in it in OT. Was the right choice starting him. Faber with a clutch stick deflection in OT as well.
While the Wild were overall outplayed in the OT’s, but let’s not forget the unreal save Ottinger made on Johannsson early in the first OT, 99/100 times that’s a goal and we would have won the game early on in the first OT…
I think the goalie rotation will be lose a game and you’re out…if you build momentum, you stay in net…
my guess is that after Foligno/Reaves watch replays of the cheapshot crosschecks Suter was handing out all game, especially to 97, they’ll have a little between whistles chat with him in game 2, stop that crap or you’ll need to answer the bell…even if he turtles the entire fight, those guys will pound on him…
The Wild will likely petition the league to watch him closer too…nothing new though, he’s been doing tha his entire career…The Wild got away with a ton of penalties too though (Foligno’s leg whip on Robertson out of nowhere is a good example where Dallas has a complaint regarding thier stars being targeted…)
I dont know how you guys could stay up for that game kudos to you. I couldnt finish the second period we were still down 2-1 at that point. Woke up expecting to be disappointed to see a loss, but SOB we won in 2 OT! Never would have made that. Suter needs to meet the fists of someone. Seeing those cheap shots on Kirill and right in front of the refs and no calls!
Suter’s never going to engage in tough guy stuff it’s a waste of time and energy to chase him around thinking about it. Just end up taking a stupid penalty so I hope they’re not dwelling on it. If an opportunity presents itself yeah bring him some pain but don’t come in with the plan to get him. At least that’s what I hope the players are thinking. As a fan… I say rip his head off.
Domi should have a hearing or at minimum a fine today. He full on suckered Dumba twice I’m still amazed Wild didn’t get a PP there. Domi has a history of sucker punch suspensions – he thinks he’s tough like his dad… as long as the other dude has their gloves on.

Not going to lie, it was tough. I didn’t make the finish, but did make it about half way through the 1st OT. Then up at 3:30 for work.. Seeing the W makes it slightly easier to function today, although I’m reeling..

Of course he’s not going to square up and drop the gloves, I’m just talking about engaging him in a scrum and escalating it a bit, he’s not going to just take it, so they would likely get matching minors, there’s alot of ways of making his life miserable on the ice without getting a penalty…4th line needs to make finishing their checks more of a priority, Dallas’s defensive corp is terrible after Hieskenan (who played almost 42 minutes last night!), keep pounding them and they’ll cough up the puck more…they’ll see the missed opportunities in the video session today…
LOL scrums are exactly what I’m talking about. Suter’s stayed out of scrums for 18 years – we had a front row seat for half of them. He’ll go straight arm and look the other way every time – if someone tries to escalate it’ll be extremely obvious and the refs made a point last year of taking only 1 guy.
If an opportunity presents itself then yeah absolutely take it but I sure hope they’re not running around with an itchy trigger finger.
I think one of the usual posters (Grouse maybe?) have complained about those cross checks in front of the net for years, and I agree it’s long past time to get them out of the game. On a related note, Kirill isn’t the guy that should be posting up in front of the net, especially on a PP, he’s better with the puck on his stick and just no need to have your best scorer getting beat like a rented mule.
one of the biggest takeaways I saw from last night was the consistant generated offense by Boldy & Johannsson (Freddy was invisible) if we continue to get that secondary offense (and get Ekker back) we’ll be in good shape for the playoffs…

They’ll get in his kitchen, keep it consistant and he’ll get frustrated…

totally agree! it seemed like every time they brought the puck thru the neutral zone, they created a scoring opportunity
I made it until OT and then hit the record button. Watched the rest this morning. Awesome! 2OT what a way to start the series.
Gus was a little shaky to start but it was his first playoff game ever so kinda got to expect a little jitters. He settled in very nice and was the reason we were able to last that long and get a fortunate bounce to Hartman.
Huge win!!

X3 Boldy, Jojo, and Krill all had tons of chances and were driving the offense. Those are the guys we want getting looks.
Nyquist was noticeable in a good way last night too – such a sneaky good pick-up there

Yeah, I was really intrigued with that pickup. If lineup changes are needed he could fit in on the first line.
Foligno got a good one on Robertson
Gus just doesn’t have it tonight but he’s fighting through it and the team D is so good in front of him
This one lived long.
