Ehlers was backchecking and going to avoid contact – Hartman concussed him.

    That’s not dirty?

He was on a beeline right at Hartman. Hartman just stood his ground after dishing off a pass. Hartman wasnt even moving except to make the hit.

It’s not Hartman’s fault the guy has had multiple concussions and takes a Mauer level hit and gets concussed. I’ll restate that the check was clearly shoulder to chest.

And as Musky stated, he ran into Hartman. Hartman was ready for it.

Stopping like that is not a hockey play and the only reason Hartman stopped on a dime was to put a shoulder into Ehlers chest. The normal play there is to curl up and join the rush but he stops dead to take out Ehlers and it clearly caught him off guard. Ehlers had zero intention of ever making contact with Hartman.

We can agree to disagree. Hartman made a touch pass and was skating the opposite direction of the rush. You think he’s supposed to curl in less than one second after he touches the puck and get out of the way of Ehlers? I don’t buy it. I’m sure he’ll probably get a game or two because it’s Hartman but I think the 2 min interference was the correct call.

Meh, its a nothingburger to me. Should Hartman have just gotten run over? That is what the likely outcome would have been had he not reverse hit him.

The hit came 4 seconds after Ehlers *tried* to put a late hit on Kaprizov. Hartsy was trying to send a message (that message is pain) and he did. Now he pays the price. As does Ehlers.

Watch the replay. There was zero contact if Hartman didn’t initiate. Ehlers wasn’t going to touch him.

In 99.99% of all other neutral zone re-groups the center getting a pass keeps moving with his forward momentum. Hartman stopped dead on a dime and lowers a shoulder. Why?

It was definitely intentional and a bit dirty, just like the cross check on mojo.
    I liked it however.

    1 game is my guess.

Saw this tweet, no noticeable limp by Ekker, for sure didnt have surgery and not in a leg/foot cast… Ekker is more machine than man now…

Agreed, well put. You can love Hartman and still admit he’s a rat and sometimes that comes with consequences. He’s been fined or suspended 3x in the last two years, all 3 were earned, and all 3 are from sticking up for Kirill. You gotta love that.

Great to see Ek with no boot. I’m surprised by that

Was the famous “Bird to Kane” defending Kirill? I thought that was just because Kane is a huge douche.

Reverse hits are illegal now? Serious question as that Hartmann hit on Ehlers looked like a pretty standard reverse hit, just in the open ice.

if you have possesion of the puck its fine, but when you don’t its a whole lotta interference…

Also, we’re going to need a lot of play by play posts, or a long playoff run (insert jokes here) to reach 241 pages boys. Keep grinding! rotflol

Hartman is a lot like Marchand. Got a lot of grit and opposing teams and their fans hate them both, but they would take him on their team in a heartbeat.

Yeah I can understand the interference call, even tho Hartman had *just* passed the puck, but looked like a pretty routine reverse hit otherwise imo.

Yeah we are going to have to up our game to pass last year’s post count, but I think we are actually ahead of the pace we set last year.

My prediction is a 1 game suspension for Hartman. Clean hit by Ehlers on Kaprisov.

guys just can’t skate around the ice blasting everybody, the puck has to be directly involved in the play otherwise any hit on another player will be called for Interference…Hartman knew exactly what he was doing and passed the puck off last second to make his eventual hit look legal, but it wasn’t…

1 game for Hartman announced. And no you can’t open ice check a guy without the puck now or ever.

Russo just tweeted that Johansson is sore, but expected to be OK so that is good. Guys do play with cracked ribs though.

have you seen the madness the Wild are in trying to get enough players to play tomorrow night while still trying to give some guys rest/protection nights off? Iowa has their last home game tonight complicating things…

Yeah its pretty wild. Nashville is a heavy team so they dont want any stars to be playing. Seeing Walker and Swaney called up.

But season and playoffs started late last year, right. So how many pages were we at game 81?

Ehlers tried to run Kirill right before that and the puck was long gone, Kirill protects himself and it’s a standard hockey play with no penalty. Ehlers comes down intent on hitting Hartmann, who chips it away at the last second and reverse hits Ehlers who did nothing to protect himself. Interference and a little cheap, sure. All I’m saying is it’s not worth a 2+2 and possible suspension imo.

All I am saying is it was a penalty and a bit of a cheap shot. Puck may have been gone when KK got checked. Ehlers never had the puck and was not close to it.

guys are allowed a little leeway when finishing their checks (mostly because they couldn’t fully stop their momemtum when going in for a check) it’s the refs descretion how much space/time after they get rid of the puck before they can no longer be hit and an interference penalty is called…that unwritten rule doesn’t apply to the guy who had the puck though…
