Here’s the statement from the team. I think they make it pretty obvious

Ha don’t mind the capfriendly picture

So maybe they go every other game with one of those 2 on the 1st line to finish the regular season?

I’d like to see Nyquist-Dewar-Duhaime in the playoffs. Still call it the “4th line” to keep everyone happy but that’s a line that could really add depth scoring. Foligno-Freddy-Sundquist/Reaves can be the heavy/shutdown “3rd line”

In terms of the bottom 6, I still think Foligno’s play says he’s the odd man out when EVERYONE is healthy…I don’t think Deano will do that, but the stats don’t lie…Reaves has been better than Foligno since he got here…

    Sunquist – Gaudreau – Reaves/Foligno
    Duhaime – Dewar – Nyquist

No chance they healthy scratch Foligno. If he’s out it’s because he’s banged up.

but the stats don’t lie…Reaves has been better than Foligno since he got here…

And what stats would those be? please don’t say plus-minus

I’ll let you pull their stats from the last 20-25 games… Reaves also gets a fraction of the opportunities Foligno does (PP & PK)

Another line combo to try would be Duhaime – Gaudreau – Nyquist

Freddy wants nothing to do with physical play…

So Reaves over Foligno because he’s going to out produce him based on the last 20 games? Ok then

Sundquist and Reaves don’t kill penalties so they won’t have both in the healthy playoff lineup.

    I’m guessing they’ll start with Foligno-Freddy-Nyquist and Duhaime-Dewar-Reaves/Sundquist

The eye test says he’s been better too… I said in my reply Deano won’t do it, but Reaves has outplayed him… Foligno has been bad all season… GMBG should unload him this offseason, use the $ to resign JoJo for a couple years…

I was just curious about what stats weren’t lying because you gotta squint really hard to find a stat that makes Reaves look better than anyone. If you want to limit that to the last 15 games then sure… it’s also been the best 15 game stretch of his 800 game career in terms of production.

Some big time decisions there based on 15 games. How much are you giving Jojo? His last 2 contracts have been 1 year 1.1 and 1.5

That’s like saying BG is gonna bench Dumba for the playoffs. His stats aren’t great but he’s a leader on the team. I don’t see this club sitting their alternate captain because he’s not producing points. This team doesn’t work that way.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a heavy line of Sundquist centering Foligno and Reeves. That line could crush pretty much anyone.
Nyquist with Dewar and Duhaime would be hard for anyone to keep up with.
The top two lines need to stay intact.
That would put Freddy as the odd man out, and we all know that won’t happen.

Right. But this team and it’s GM, value the “great locker room guy” and leadership aspect of a player more than other teams. They’ve proven that for the last couple seasons with who they’ve kept around. And it’s mostly worked, to be fair.

Does Foligno even have any stats in the last couple months? He’s been horrid. How do you put that into stats? And overall on the season? Terrible. No fights in forever. Barely a big hit every few games. 1 goal? Couple assists?

I don’t care about the “A” on the jersey. Locker room guy or not, he’s not helping this team. I’ll take Sundqvist over him in a heartbeat going into the playoffs. Cup cred over no production.

Not going to fret over the possible forward lineups. That will shake itself out barring everyone is healthy. My guess all will play at some point in the first round. Playoffs are a whole different game and some players rise to the occasion some will fold. Heaving depth will only help.

Every team values that. You just hear more about from the wild because you follow the wild.
I mean are you really following the culture of the Senators or any other team.

I think you could ask a player from any winning team in any sport and they will talk about th culture of the locker room.

He is basically on his career average scoring wise. Has 80 more hits than Reavo on the season.

My point is this team doesn’t care about Folingo not scoring enough to bench him because of their team philosophy. What other teams do is irrelevant in this instance.

My guess is the team doesn’t think he is not scoring enough. That is mostly a fan thing because they want last year Moose who doubled his career average in points vs the Moose that he has always been.
Would everyone including the team wish he would pot a few more goals…well ya but it’s also not really what he is as a player.

We can just agree that Moose is not in the press box come playoffs unless he is banged up.

Is Nyquist fast? I read Russo’s latest article this afternoon saying that it looks like he’ll be playing with Foligno and Goudreau. Those two could use some speed with them. I really don’t know much about Nyquist other than he’s generally thought of as a good player.

Yes he can skate. Well he could anyway. To me he could be one to rotate in and out during the playoffs depending if you want to play with more speed or beef and what he may bring on the PP2.

He will be good insurance in case a top six goes down.

We have more than enough leaders (Ek, Brodin, Kaprizov, Zuccarello) who could have a letter on their chest, their wouldn’t be some leadership vacuum if he’s not on the ice…of all the players who had a terrible 1st half of the year, only Foligno hasn’t picked up his game…he’s been a turnover machine all year and hasn’t brought much else to the ice…

and again, I said Deano wouldn’t sit him, just like he’ll never sit Freddy, they are his boys… but if it was based on their play this year, imo Foligno should be the guy sitting out if everyone is healthy…this is also assuming Nyquist looks anything like the player he was in the past…we don’t know yet…

Yeah I don’t see the love of Oscar over Moose honestly except he played well in the playoffs a few years ago. Similar players but one doesn’t exactly play the body.
Oh and he is from Sweden.

I think they all play in RD 1.

I think both sides would be happy with a 2 year deal at $2-$1.5 caphit, the Wild gets a speedy puck controlling winger that has chemstry with their 2nd best player and gets them through the tough cap years with a low caphit for a top 6 winger. JoJo gets 2 years of job security playing with 2 young players coming off career years with more room to grow, especially after 2 consecutive years of scrambling late into the summer as a UFA only to sign minimal 1 year deals..

The risk for the Wild is his injury history…
