There’s so much smoke on Goligoski it likely means he’s going to be dealt…he wants to play and his contract allows him to be cut next year with no cap hit…

They will need to find anothe NHL D to make it happen. Clock is ticking. jester

I look at it this way, our prospect pool is in such a good spot that we can afford to take some home run swings on guys vs taking safe picks…the more swings you have, the better the odds of hitting…or like I said, if somebody they have ranked super high slips, it might be enough ammo to jump up and grab him earlier than your pick…

    I don’t disagree.

First round talent in the second round this year, sure. maybe. That’s not what Pronman is saying at all, but whatever.

I can’t believe they got that for Greenway on his current contract. Jeannot’s value was way high because he’s paid league minimum and won’t get much of a raise after this low scoring season. Greenway’s contract is negative value and they got a 2nd for him – that’s excellent.

I didnt mean it is ALL first round talent, but most years many of the players drafted in the first round dont pan out anyway, but there will be a ton of guys in the second round this year that will be regular NHLers. Not sure why that is hard to understand. Im not the only person saying this, it shouldnt be a surprise to you.

I agree having another NHL level backup instead of Mermis would be nice…They must really beleive Faber can step right in and play…

I know you did – it’s 2 different perspectives. Wheeler doesn’t really predict the draft very well though… he more so does deep dives and writes cool behind the scenes stories on prospects.

Pronman is their Mel Kiper draft guru – constantly talking to scouts and teams around the league to get the best prediction on how the draft will go. He was the only one to get close on the top 5 last summer.

Pronman has said elite elite elite top 5, above average top 10-15, and then pretty much normal after that.

I was basing my comments off what Wheeler slots his prospects into categories and its about the best draft Ive seen him do since I have followed him.

I like the thought of these extra picks and the opportunity to move up to get even more of an impact player. I am sure that is what BG is eyeing here. I sure hope Goli gets moved no official word yet, but saw he was presented with options. Id have to guess we would almost need someone back but maybe not if Brodin is healthy, but lack depth after that.

This has absolutely been the wildest trade deadline I can remember. Coming into today there were 43 trades. There were 20 all last year. Probably got close to 60 at this point with some still trickling in.

wow, that Sundqvist is THICK… Deano should start him and Reaves 1st game of the playoffs and say “OK guys, show us what ya got”

Really has been wild. Today was probably slow-ish compared to most deadlines but the amount of trades in the last week or two is absolutely crazy!

Klingberg was fantastic a couple seasons ago. He is a defensive liability though for sure.

yeah, pump the breaks a bit here, this isn’t the Klingberg from a few years ago…what we paid will be key, hopefully not the 2nd we got for Greenway

Don’t care what we pay, they’re gonna effin put him in Addison’s spot. He is basically 30 year old Addison but has also given up on even thinking about playing defense

lol, I think it’s funny Russo was sent to cover Carolina’s Deadline War Room, they’ve done nothing… and MN making all of the trades..

Klingberg costs the Wild a 2025 4th rounder, Andre Sustr and the rights to Nikita Nesterenko (who’s a Jr at BC and likey going to go the UFA route next year like McBain did)

He’s a junior they don’t need to sign until summer 2024, and he’s been a good player.

The Wild have had no plans on signing him and it was said he was probably going to walk regardless.

I get that but I’m hoping in our system he can get back to that. He was never in a great defensive system…..

Nesterenko??!! Not saying he’s great, he’s maybe a C level prospect. But he’s a year and half from being able to walk and there hasn’t been any of that talk on him.

100% I am actually surprised Capfriendly isnt updated yet with the Klingberg trade.

yeah, i’m guessing that’s what GMBG thought was well, not much given up so they took a chance…I would have prefered some beef instead…

I just read it last week someone asked about him and it was either Joe Smith or Russo that said as such.

They wait for the official league posting, not twitter

case in point, the JVR fiasco about 30 minutes ago…
