Byron Bader just released the NHL Prospect rankings and he has the Wild at #1 and “no one even close”. He goes on to say the Wild’s system is “basically flawless”. We need to lock up Judd Brackett for 30 years. Its amazing what has changed since Fletcher. Remember how the Wild (Fenton) had one of the oldest rosters in the league? Now they arent even in the top 10.
Judd and gang have been nailing thier picks haven’t they…makes the loss of the 3rd round pick next year for only 2 months rental of D-Lo painful…

No, havent heard a thing, but I think that actually is good news in this case.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22831July 19, 2022 at 2:30 pm #2136320Nice….I am seeing them at 2 behind Detroit but maybe I’m looking at the wrong one.
Heard on KFAN that Russo said Dumba has been quietly shopped and their is not much interest in him right now.I have heard that about Dumba as well. I am not sure who Bader writes for, but Scott Wheeler and Corey Pronman are two other writers who will be releasing their’s soon too. Bader had wild at #2 last year.
tswobodaPosts: 8521July 19, 2022 at 2:54 pm #2136330Byron AKA “The Master” doesn’t write for anyone but his own site. He uses 100% analytics model for his prospect rankings and it’s often quite different than other prospect writers like Pronman, Wheeler, etc. His model is based 100% points/game (2nd assist counts same as a goal) and his definition of “star” is any forward over 0.7 pts/game and defenseman over 0.45 pts/game. Not saying he’s wrong, just take those rankings with a grain of salt – heck take all prospect rankings with a grain of salt.
He had Slafkovsky ranked at like number 15 for this draft….
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22831July 19, 2022 at 2:59 pm #2136336Yeah, I particularly like Wheeler and Pronman because they both do a deep dive in their articles. Wheeler I especially like, mainly found him after he was talking about Rossi so highly after visiting him with his Billet family several years ago. https://theathletic.com/681468/2018/12/05/hockeys-home-away-from-home-three-days-inside-the-life-of-a-billet-mom-and-her-superstar-new-son/
Scott Wheeler is by far the most interactive Hockey Writer I have found. You comment on his stuff and he always engages.July 19, 2022 at 3:15 pm #2136346Anyone have details on the Nick Bjugstad deal to AZ? I always liked that Blaine kid.

I beleive it’s just a 1 year deal at like $850k?
July 19, 2022 at 3:22 pm #2136351so was this prospect camp the same thing as the Prospect Games vs the Blackhawks in the fall last year? Covid has thrown a wrench in everything so i’m not sure anymore what is what, I do know they pulled out of the Official Prospects Tourney held every year and wanted to start a annual Prospect series vs the Blackhawks every fall, we hosted last year…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22831July 19, 2022 at 3:25 pm #2136352Yeah they arent doing that tourney they did in Michigan anymore. I think you are right Joe they are just doing something with the Hawks for the foreseeable future. It seemed that all the teams had a prospect camp going on at the same time. I had a FB memory pop up from 4 years ago last week when we went to one of the scrimmages at the X.

I have known many goalies in my life and still very good friends with several. They are all at least a little weird to straight up bat poop crazy.

You kinda have to be to have a puck fired at you.

On behalf of Deertracker I want to say that he strongly resembles that remark.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22831July 20, 2022 at 8:46 am #2136483I sure hope we will see Kaprizov this year. I think the no news is probably good news though since his buddy was snatched up and sent to Siberia and it was published everywhere instantly.

My guess is his PR team is making calls to all of the Oligarchs/Military Leaders who adore him as the patriot who (stayed in Russia to win the Gigueren Cup with CSKA and scored the golden goal in the Olympics) to hopefully end this without issue…My only worry is that they “make” Kirill pay for it by staying in Russia…Russia would likely see HUGE PR blowback from their people and they have enough problems as it is, BUT they control everything that is said and done on the air and in print media so who knows…
If it’s just a 1 year hiatis, it’s a good year to tank a season and get a high 1st round pick….

Saw this today…That was awesome! BG “is that OK?” LOL
Nanne was on KFAN a week or so go and he was jokingly asked how he would sneek Kirill out (like he did Musil)…he said it would be highly impossible in today’s world, too many eyes watching and too much risk…

That story cracks me up every time I hear it. True, it would never happen today and certainly not with Kirill he is far to recognizable IMO.
Ice CapPosts: 2161July 20, 2022 at 11:55 am #2136556I feel it’s not a good thing no one has heard anything directly from KK. If all of this is false reports would he have not contacted his agent or BG to say no worries everything is fine there is nothing to these reports?
I would imagine anyone who has his cell # has tried to reach out to him. Oligarchs, military leaders and so on have no say in it and are dealing with much larger problems than a hockey player at the moment and what KK did in the past counts for nothing in today’s Russia. As it’s been reported this is all Putin and what he wants. Right now he wants to punish the USA any way he can for the sanctions our and other countries have put on him. Same holds true with the oligarchs and other mover and shakers in Russia.
I don’t think KK would have to be held I think all it would take is for Putin to ask him to stay and he would. KK like Ovi and most other Russian players are still loyalists to their country and their president.
RipjiggenPosts: 11601July 20, 2022 at 12:34 pm #2136571I get the Wild (and NHL for that matter) having the perspective of not commenting AT ALL so as to not get anything misinterpreted and fan any flames…and with the Russian government controlling the media narritive there, it’s not like the local news channel will show up at his door asking for the story…I just figured some new info would come out after 1-2 days of chaos and then crickets for weeks…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 22831July 20, 2022 at 12:38 pm #2136572Watch something big will happen while Russo is in Europe on vacation.

I would imagine anyone who has his cell # has tried to reach out to him.Well it’s pretty obvious *something* is going on and it’s not good. My bet is we don’t hear a peep about it until he is back in the states. At least not from Kaprizov, his agent, the team, or the NHL.

Lose the Battle of Alberta
Lose Johnny Hockey

Ice CapPosts: 2161July 20, 2022 at 4:45 pm #2136691Gaudreau and Tkachuk have one thing in common they are both U.S. players with family in the states. I would venture a guess that uncertain travel restrictions back and forth across the border played a factor in these two deciding to leave Canada.

I could see that with Johnny hockey but not Tkachuk, he just wants the money and publicity, his brother is in Ottawa the next 7 years…
RipjiggenPosts: 11601July 20, 2022 at 5:22 pm #2136696Yes but I have also heard the talking heads that he would like to go to the Blues. Either way he had his best year finally on the same line as Johnny Hockey. Guessing that may have played a part as well.
