NHL needs to change back to the 1-8 seeding…

Agreed, and I think pretty much everyone agrees except for Gary and his sidekick Bill. Wouldn’t make a difference in the East this year though, the 3-6 teams are in for a first round battle no matter how they seed it.

I would like to see them go back to the 1-8 seeds too. I’ve been saying this for a few years now. Playing the same teams in the first round gets old.

Remember all those years when the Capitals and Penguins met in the conference semi-finals?

I havent watched alot of the Wild this year mainly cause I dont care for the Fluery experiment. I have watched a little more lately. With a little luck KK could have had about 8 goals in the last 2 games. And I now see why you guys are always ragging on Dumba.

Aside from the 1-8 thing I would like them to reseed after the first round.

That was a frustrating 2 periods of hockey to watch yesterday. Although, for what the CBJ are paying that goaltender, you’d think he should be good enough to stop the Wild’s potent offensive punch for at least 2 periods.

I’d consider pretty much any deal that moved Greenway’s underperforming buttski out to be a total success even if we got the proverbial sack of pucks and used goalie equipment. There’s no way Dumba is getting traded, so forget that.

I don’t see what’s so bad about Addison’s play in the D zone. He doesn’t look any worse out there than anyone with the exception of Spurgeon. Have Deano and Billy decided they just don’t like him and that’s that?

I think Addison has been playing D a bit better since he was put back in the lineup when Brodin got hurt so maybe message was received.

Toronto just made a trade for Jake McCabe who has 2 years at $4aav left on his contract. Chicago ate 50% of that remaining contract and it cost Toronto a 2025 1st round pick and a 2026 2nd round pick (there were pick conditions and late picks/prospects involved but they were all minor)

Bottom line, this gives a little idea of what the cost is for future years salary retention…SO in terms of what it could cost the Wild to get Vancouver to retain 25-50% of Brock Boeser’s remaining salary, you’re likely looking at 2 high future draft picks…

Funny story in the Athletic today with Ryan O’Reilly, he jokingly said it felt bad that none of the Wild players reached out to welcome him when he was traded…lol…He felt nobody wanted him in MN…

That dude cracks me up… his Winter Classic Hockey Hair intro video is the best – https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=305880468121253

No thanks. I said it a month ago and I’m saying it again. I don’t think BG is going to do much of anything. You can’t sell high end prospects for a rental like Boesser. BG is going to stand pat until the cap starts coming up. It’s really all he can do. This team isn’t good enough to make a cup run no matter who they might bring in at the deadline.

Boesser wouldn’t be a rental. He has two years after this season.

Well then we would need Vancouver to take a lot more than 25% to make the books work I would think.

hence my post detailing expected costs… I for sure dont want to trade off 2023/2024 high picks, but I’d consider moving 2025/2026 high picks if it could help make the money work bringing in a scorer for a few years… at some point in time you can have too many prospects and it clogs development…

As much as I enjoyed that game yesterday, it just further validates we only have one scoring threat on this team.

Great game tonight BOS at EDM. Two good hockey clubs beating each other up. Fun one to watch.

No words are adequate to describe McDavid anymore. 50 goals and 115 points with 21 games left. He will break 60 goals and probably wind up around 150 points. Is Bedard going to be as good or better than McDavid? Here’s a hypothetical question. If we knew what team was getting the first round pick in the Bedard sweepstakes would you trade KK to get that pick now?

Bedard should be very good, but I really doubt he will be better than McDavid. He’s a smurf. I think his game is going to take a major step back at this level.

All signs point to Kane getting traded to the Rangers today… Have you guys seen the amount of high draft picks the Blackhawks have aquired the past 2 years? good lord…

We’ve discussed that before, it really boils down to a Known vs Unknown, We know what Kirill is in the NHL (Top 5 player) and we don’t know his contract future with the Wild after 3 more seasons. We don’t know how Bedard will pan out in the NHL, but we do know the team who drafts him has contract control over him for at least 7 years…

I’d take Kirill without thinking twice…any player has control of thier future after 7 seasons (UFA) so they either re-sign or they don’t, it’s out of the team’s control…

Yep. Put me in the keep Kirill camp. You just never know with draft picks, even someone as highly thought of as Bedard.

Matvei Mitchkov is just as good as Bedard imo, whatever team takes him will be happily rewarded, they’ll just have to wait for him…I could see Chicago taking him at #2 since their rebuild is still 3-4 years from being done…

He’s 17… should be a junior in high school right now

How much did you grow after 17? The kid cant be 5’6″. Doubt he will reach 6 feet tall. Funny they list him at 5’10”, but no way he is that tall.

I think the listed 185 lbs is more hilarious…maybe he has Lane Hutson bones…that kid grew 3 inches the year after he was drafted…

Still think he is going to be a heckuva player. I mean Jack Hughes isnt the biggest guy and he is a dang good player. I was perusing youtube and happened across some videos of these 8 and 9 year olds that are just plain ridiculous. The one is 12 now. One kid is from the hockey hotbed Alaska, while the other is from the other hockey hotbed Texas. Roman Marcotte is the one from Alaska and Kaden Galatiuk is the other one. I guess he is 12 now too.

yeah, I pay ZERO attention to these young youtube “hockey stars”…Parents with money can get the best coaching and as much icetime as they want and you’ll see these younger players progress at a much faster pace than other (normal) hockey kids…The other kids will catch up fast though as they get older and once kids are allowed to take the body everything changes…

Not sure on height but I gained 25 lbs between my junior and senior year of high school. Just saying it’s a little early to call him a smurf. And who cares if he makes 6′ tall?! Bedard is just getting to the age when kids put on muscle mass.
